I prefer Fuller a thousand times over a punter. Should be a good scheme fit.

Default This front office has got to go.

They have gone from bad to outright foolish. There's no excuse for what they did in the fifth round.

There goes Washington. Really wanted him for depth.

Rambo gone too. I'm thinking Fauria here to replace Heller and groom for 2014. Just wish he was a better blocker.

Fauria is a guy I had going to the Lions in the 6th round in my mock. Hopefully they do the right thing and take him since he is very talented and helps fill a current/future need.

Before we got Reggie Bush, I had considered him as a 3rd down running back. He's listed as WR on our draft tracker. He is a tweener and can be a run and shoot type slot guy.

Williams was one of the players I thought the Lions could end up with late in the draft. Not the TE I wanted since Williams is basically a blocking TE. But the Lions seem to be obsessed with those.

It was alright but could have went better IMO. We drafted a punter(Sam Martin) in the 5th round and even though he is good, I thought that was a reach. We also drafted Devin Taylor with our 4th round comp pick, which is good because I had him going to us with our 5th round selection. We also finally drafted a WR(Corey Fuller), which was a decent selection but not the one I wanted. Then we got Michael Williams to use as a blocking TE and we also signed Joesph Fauria as a UDFA which is who I wanted to get in the 6th round, but we still got him in the end. Fauria should be a very nice weapon for Stafford. I think getting Williams and Fauria is a sign that they probably won't resign Pettigrew and Scheffler after this season.

I like the punter pick actually. Nic Harris killed us last year with field position. I think it was a huge problem.I like the two TEs they picked up with Williams and Fauria. Nice to see they picked up the Western Michigan QB. Solid draft.

Update No. 2 (10:18 p.m. on April 27):

The Lions have added five more undrafted free agents: QB Alex Carder, WR Travis Tarpley, OT LaAdrian Waddle, C Skyler Allen and DT Michael Brooks.
As for the draft, we got 3 starters(Ziggy, Slay, Warford), a developmental starter/insurance (Taylor), a punter/kickoff specialist, a couple weapons that help balance out the offense, a special teams linebacker who won't be arrested for DUIs, and some TE depth with a blocking and a receiving option.

Pretty solid draft. I would have avoided corner and gone somewhere else with the 2nd round, but I can't argue with improving our secondary with a talented cover guy with speed like that.

I think Devin Taylor will work out well for us. I don't think he will be great but a solid contributor for the next few years. You can't teach that size and athleticism. If he only had a mean, nasty streak...but then if he did he would have long been off the board at that pick.

hopefully Washburn can turn him into Kearse-lite.

I'm thinking that we should have our QBs take turns throwing footballs at pictures of his mom. Maybe edit porn videos to include opposing QBs being with his mom. Actually, we should do this with every DE on the team.

I'm thinking this will help them bat down balls so they won't hit their moms in the face, and give them an extra edge when trying to get to the QB.

...maybe they already do that with Suh...it would explain some things.

Love this draft. They have committed the last 2 years to improving our dreadful secondary, I like our new DEs and the fact that they are adding bigger players there. We went for guys who could help on STs later on(your best bet at these types sticking on the roster) and also got some guys with solid upside. Riddick and Fuller can really be playmakers and Taylor has a very rare combination of size, athleticism and production(in the SEC). Williams is a perfect fit here at TE, good Heller replacement.

and dammit,we needed a P, sorry for those who don't like it.

Overall I like the draft. We walked away with 3 day 1 starters. Compare that to last year where we didn't have one.

You don't see many holes in the team right now. Sure our LT is still a TBD but atleast we have the ability to put our 1st round pick there from last year. Teams have gotten by with worse and Reiff has the ability to surprise us all.

I love the Michael Williams pick. He can fill the role Reiff played last year and also could surprise some people in the red zone with a couple TD grabs. Also can help out our OTs at times when we play Jared Allen and Peppers.

I enjoyed seeing picks at needed positions. Agree on 3 starters, only iffy one was Slay when several other impactful defenders were still on the board ( ie Arthur Brown) guess we will see what Whitehead, Palmer, Levy are made of @ OLB. Lions clearly a liking them, I'm not sold however? Slay at top of 2 means he hits the field over developing Green & Greenwood (maybe even Bentley?) so although starting CB will come from that, it seems like 4 picks over 2 yrs for 2 spots was a bit wasteful. Either way, Ansah is going to be awesome with Fairly, Suh & Jones! Big Larry is going to open up holes on 3rd & 1, Reiff will be steady T, Bush will be the speedy X factor on the edge they missed last season, Quinn & Slay are going to track down balls in the secondary & a punter finally. Hallelujah! Holes were filled for sure, nice work on paper.

looking into the UDFAs that we picked up...

Fauria obviously I expect to get a shot or be stashed on the practice squad.
Skylar Allen looks like he could be a decent backup center if he sticks.
Waddle and Holtz are alright but won't stick. Waddle is a pure RT/G and Holtz is more of a technician.
Neloms is a good cover guy but has no shot unless they need special teams.
Tarpley and Wilson are undersized slot guys.
Carder can challenge for the 3rd QB spot.
Steven Miller is another undersized potential punt return guy that won't make it.
Alex Elkins...

...I won't count him out of the mix, he looks scrappy and a hardworker.
Jon Morgan is a thumper inside
Michael Brooks has talent, but has never put it together.

Some interesting options. I'd say Fauria, Skylar Allen, Carder, and that Elkins guy are my favorites to push for spots.

I hope we don't regret the OT picks we passed on at crucial moments during the draft.

Watch the careers of Menalik Watson -- he could have been our Round 2 pick -- and Luke Marquardt (available in the 6th) to see if either outperforms his draft position. Also watch Terron Armstead, a player I was convinced we would pick in the 3rd.

When we have the packers in our division we need to be 4 cbs deep if we ever want to have a real chance. Plus I'm sure the hope is that after some development we can cut houston to save some money.

I don't mind passing on them since they are all projects. Warford was a better pick since he is able to start day 1.

But Watson is 25 with very little football experience and Terron Armstead most likely would not have beaten out Hilliard or Fox.
