We knew he would fall, but I don't think anyone thought he would fall past the 5th round. Besides that, I think he is a good kid, and there was no part of me that didn't believe him when he talked about how abusive Mike Leach was. I think he will complement Marshall and have a lot of success there.
Could be the absolute steal of the draft but you have to consider that teams did their homework and had some serious doubts about the kid.

Tyler Wilson in the 4th just because in the long run it could be a good move but he could even win the job this year after what happen in SEA last year.. man would that suck for Flynn.

Deon Sanders couldn't tackle worth a lick but he's in the HOF. The CB's main job is to shut down WR's man to man unless they play in a Cover 2, after that it is all gravy if they can do more.

If I don't go with Arthur Brown for the Ravens then TACKLE might implode. Regardless he was one of the guys I really wanted at 32 but to still get him at 56 is awesome. Brown will likely be a starter from day one and he has the skills they've been missing at that position since Lewis slowed down a few years ago.

A cornerbacks main job is to cover TJ but what you are saying is, you better be damn good at covering if you are going to be a tp 5 corner that can't tackle. Haven't watched much of him since im on the EC but good bloodlines and Marcus wasn't much of a tackler was he? and he had good years but was never top 5... well maybe 1 or 2 years.

There's also concerns about his interviews, while he does check out, he doesn't have the mindset to carry the load in the NFL. All Alabama players come out dinged up so in order to get the most out out him, they took the perfect RB to pair with him. Franklin is a complete back, as is Lacy, but Lacy will handle the carries between the tackles. Both are solid in pass protect, Franklin better.

Just what I've gathered through comments from the Packers brass.

James Starks, Alex Green, Dajuan Harris. Not a bunch you feel comfortable with heading into the season. Add in the top two complete RBs from this class then you open up a great TC competition. They added another dimension to their offense assuming health.
Also, Kuhn turns 31 in September, he's entering the last year of his contract, and he wasn't very good last year. Furthermore, the Packers are phasing out the fullback position in favor of H-Backs like DJ Williams and Ryan Taylor. I see Lacy taking over the power running responsibilities, and he's solid enough as a receiver and pass protector that he could seriously cut into Kuhn's playing time. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Lacy, Franklin, and DJ Williams in the inverted wishbone next season.

The team had an opening for at least two running backs. I wouldn't have been shocked to see them take a third.

CB Jamar Taylor at the 54th pick of the 2nd round. First round ability at a big-time position of need for us. Also a perfect fit for our new zone defense and wil step in as a starter day 1 opposite Brent Grimes.

Lotulelei was pure joy for me to see go to the Panthers, what luck... Top 3 player in this draft IMO, going at 14 is pure gold IMO.

Thomas was who I hoping would be the pick at Duke Williams pick for Buffalo. Great pick for Pittsburgh.

Obviously Duron Harmon for the Pats. I mean he lasted to the third?!?!?! how'd that happen?

All kidding aside, Buchanon is the one that strikes me as one that could that awesome value guy.

And for the corner tiff going on, tackling isn't obviously the most important trait, but a competent corner has to be more than a turnstile. If he is a turnstile, he has to be pretty epic at covering people.

Which leads to the Deion Sanders argument... Really? He is like the French figure skating judge, you throw out the score. He was so awful in run support but so great in coverage he was more anomaly than anything.

I like Fuller was Detroit'd best steal. I really like Michael Williams too. Limited upside, but a pretty rock solid bet to be a contributor at this level.

Cincinnati Bengals

Margus Hunt, DE, SMU

Sure, he's raw and has yet to refine the nuances of playing the Defensive End position, but he's a world class athelete, with eye-popping measurables and the Olympian-Caliber work ethic to develop into a top-notch defensive player.

As a special teams bounus, This guy blocked 17 kicks in college, that's staggering.

If he can use that same timing and instinct to block passes at the line, look out.

Bengals Almost Drafted Florida State Tackle Menelik Watson

Apr 27th, 2013 at 11:00 pm by JasonBengals

The Cincinnati Bengals were able to eliminate a massive hole on their offensive line after they re-signed Andre Smith to a 3-year deal yesterday, and it came just in the nick of time.
Kevin Goheen of Fox Sports Ohio got to talk with Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander today, and he revealed that tackle was an immediate need for the Bengals had Andre Smith not re-signed, and it was in the form of Florida State’s Menelik Watson

That means the Bengals would have either taken him in Round 1 and missed out on Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert, or Round 2 and missed out on North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard. Not only that, but they would have an unproven Watson replacing a Pro Bowler in Smith.
Alas, all well in Bengaldom as the team wraps up another solid NFL Draft.

Keenan Allen in the 3rd was an absolute steal IMO.

Also loved the Poyer pick by the Iggles in the 7th, that kid is a football player and will be an immediate contributor.

I'm not sure he'll be Chris Johnson, but he's going to be a very good running back and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the best to come out of this class. His patience and vision as a runner are unbelievable. I just don't understand why many teams had him on their board as a receiver.

I think Robinson was being projected as a WR because of his build. IIRC, some people also projected Chris Johnson to WR for the same reason.

He looked pretty good at RB late last season. I also wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the best from this draft class. I don't know what his 10-yard split is, but just eyeballing it, I think he accelerates as well as anybody I've ever seen. I'll never forget the first time I saw him take off and run. It was one of those "Oh ****!" moments for me.

I'd say Barrett Jones for the Rams. HUGE value where we got him, he'll most likely end up being a starter for us at LG in Year 1 and shift to Center when Scott Wells retires.

Very good value there.

Kaepernick is this years pat white. Thin, gimmick offense and doesn't possess an nfl arm. The ncaa constantly regurgitates clones of past players and amazingly enough, tricks some people into thinking they're better than their cloned half. Kaepernick was a complete waste of a senior bowl qb spot. A better qb will come from the east/west shrine or whatever they're calling it now...count on it

I'm still not happy about this. Even after Tavon Austin, and Stedman Bailey selected.. I still wanted Patton, and it pains me to see him a 49er. You guys had a helluva draft.

What makes Patton THAT good? I mean, i realize he's a good "value" pick in Round 4 (based on what we know so far, NFL career's a different story). But on every board i go to people are lauding it as a huge steal, the steal of the draft, etc.

The one that hurt me to watch was Chris Harper to the Seahawks in the 4th. I think he is going to be a really good possession receiver, in the mold of Anquan Boldin. He is super strong and has great hands.
