I have to agree with P-L here.

Most talented college football team? '01 Canes.

Best college football team? '95 Huskers.

That's also not including some of the really old teams because its too difficult to compare teams for totally different eras.

The only position they didn't have at least 2 future pro bowlers seemed like QB.

I know its been said already but I'm putting my nod for the 01 Canes, and if McGahee would not have got hurt we could've witnessed the best 2 year stretch in modern college football.

Love all the Canes respect in this thread. My vote goes to '01 Canes as well. Obviously.

That defensive line they had with guys like Peter, Tomich and Wistrom was probably the best i've ever seen.

The 1991 Washington team with Steve Emtman, Billy Joe Hobert and Mark Brunell would be my homer pick.

Hard to tell how some of these teams would stack up against some of the great teams of the 60s and 70s. Michigan st. and Notre Dame in 1966 were absolutely loaded with talent.

GOAT Defensive Line is 1996 Florida State....

DE - Peter Boulware
DT - Andre Wadsworth
DT - Jerry Johnson/Julian Pittman
DE - Reinard Wilson

Bear Bryant's '66 Bama team was one of the best there's ever been.

Vince Lombardi said it best when asked after his Packers won the superbowl.... "How does it feel to be the best team in America"...

Lombardi replied..."I don't know... we haven't played Alabama yet".

Athlon ranks that Oklahoma dynasty as #1 on their list of 25 Greatest Dynasties of the AP era...

http://www.athlonsports.com/college-...nasties-ap-era

However, I'd argue that the greatest dynasty was Bear Bryant's at Alabama from '61-'81.

Six national titles
Two more titles stolen by the voters
28-game winning streak
57-game home unbeaten streak
14 SEC titles
Played two more games that if won gives Bama titles in '71 and '74.

As for the thread topic, best team and greatest dynasty may in fact be two entirely different questions. The single greatest team (as in best team for one season) is an incredibly complicated expedition.

Hard to take CFB seriously before it was desegregated.

Ed Reed also started on that team.

The running back depth was astonishing. Three players with over 26,000 career rushing yards between them and not one of them under 8,000. Edgerrin James was also a Hurricane just a few years previously.

I think forgetting Ed Reed pretty much cements his point. The talent on those teams was the stuff of legend.

That 2001 Hurricane team really gave us a beating that year.
