Yeah, maybe Don Vito can chime in if he's still lurking, but I'm pretty sure they have Lloyd and Amendola, and that's it (but I like Dobson too). That offense is run through the TE's anywho. Hawk is a great 4th WR. It's just he would have been battling Williams for the 6th WR spot while being paid like a 3rd WR. It was a numbers problem. Not a talent problem.

Hopefully now with a simplified offense, we'll finally see what Damian Williams can do. I remember Palmer expressing his frustration with D-Will over his routes and such. If we trade Hands, then Walter will probably step in as 4th WR, but I want that spot for D-Will.

If he busts, then we should just trade all our 3rd RDers (yay Hunter trade), cause we blow with those going back a decade. So far, Jurrell Casey has been the only hit, and hopefully Martin pans out, but Rennie Curran busted hard. Cookie was ok, but still a disappointment (especially since that was a future 2nd). Ryan Mouton makes me nauseous. Paul Williams was a better special teamer than receiver. Same goes for Courtney Roby, and Brandon Jones was good enough to tease. Rich Gardner was...there. Craig Stevens is the only one to see a second contract, and his biggest fan on this forum is KCJ, a Cal Bears fan. The only others were Randy Starks, who found success in Miami, and Chris Brown, who was serviceable.

So c'mon Williams, Martin, Bloody Willy, and Gooden! I believe in you!

I am at work right now so of course I am lurking.

Brandon Lloyd, he gon'. He go released. There was some talk of maybe bringing him back but it doesn't look like that is happening. Amendola was brought in of course and it looks like the organization expects him to be a big part of the offense. As you said it all runs through the TE's. We have worked our way into becoming a more balanced offense now that we have a competent run game, and that is by design. It is nice being able to run the football again, but this is Brady's show and it goes through Gronk and Hernandez. Their health is the key.

The only proven receiver we have that be counted on for anything this year is Amendola. No, Michael Jenkins does not count. Dobson and Boyce were pretty high picks that have talent, but they are rookies and we have struggled with developing receivers for a long time. TJ Moe was a UDFA signing as well. Edelman is a jack of all trade types but I don't think we will ever be confident depending on him to be an impact receiver, he is a good returner though and overall a solid player to have on the roster. We also picked up Donald Jones from the Bills, I think he is the guy who is in a situation most similar to Hawkins'.

My thoughts on Hawkins signing are that we brought him in because we know how much of a crapshoot our success with receivers is. He could get cut before the end of camp, or he could be starting on opening day. It is really that wide open. I was under the impression that your fanbase thought he was a frusturating player with some tools to work with. I'll take a guy with his ability on this team, we have needed explosive receivers desperately.

Amendola, Dobson, and Boyce are pretty much locks to make it. Something tells me Michael Jenkins will stick and be painful to watch all season as he inexplicably receives targets every week. On most teams that would leave another spot or two at receiver, but with how much we use our TE's and Vereen's expected impact in the passing game I could see us carrying 5 or maybe 4 receivers all year. After Amendola/Dobson/Boyce in terms of safety to make the team, I would say next is Edleman, then Jenkins, then Hawkins/D. Jones, then the rest. There is nothing set in stone there.

Thanks for getting me away from work for 10 minutes. Back to Tits talk.

Tits Talk. The alliteration rolls off the tongue. That's what this subforum needs to be called. Or at least the 2013 version of this thread.

I second it. Although I think we'd have a lot of unwanted visitors that just happened to wonder into our subforum because of the name

Titans still in talks with Abraham, he's reportedly trying to get as much as he can by saying he views himself as a full-time player and wanting 60 snaps a game

I could understand if Abe was holding out for more money or to go to a contender, but demanding those kind of snaps is stupid.

I'd like Abe or Idonije pretty equally. Less interested in Freeney

How I understand it, it's just a bargaining ploy to get more money. If he can convince the Titans he believes himself to be a starter, and can convince them he is a starter full-time player, he'll get more money. The Titans aren't going to give full-time money to a player that is going to be a situational pass-rusher. So by saying he wants to be guaranteed 60 snaps a game, he's putting it in the Titans heads that he is a full-time DE, so therefore he wants to be paid like that

I still think Abraham can play at a high level for a year or two, so I'd love to get him. Idonije would be a nice consilation, as would Freeney.

Yeah...I'd probably rank them Abraham, Idonije, and Freeney (in that order) -- although I think that each could contribute in the right situation as part of the DE rotation.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think we're offering Abraham something like $2-3 mil/year, while he probably wants something more like $5-6 mil/year (based on the 60+ snaps/game talk). Even though he's old, it's hard to argue with the 10 sacks that he had last year and the 30+ sacks he's had over the past few years. Ultimately, I think both sides will compromise and he'll earn about $3.5 mil/year + incentives -- which we should be able to afford after cutting ties with Amano and Nate, both of which seem likely to happen in my mind.

My only concern is that Abraham had two games against poor offensive lines in which he had 5sacks combined. The Raiders and Cardinals, in the other 14 games he managed another 5 sacks.

I really think the best thing for him would be as a pass rush specialist, when you look at his statistics last season he had 6 sacks after week 6, and managed 4 in the remaining 10 games so I wonder if part of that may have been him wearing down.

Welcome to the bottom of the depth chart, Mr.Johnson.

Well, it can be said we definitely want competition in training camp!

I thought Antonio Johnson was a pretty good pick when we got him in the 5th Round in 2007 -- nice size and some potential, etc. But he just couldn't stay healthy and we tried to hide him on the practice squad, which is where the Colts found him.

Even though he had a few decent years with the Colts, I don't see him making the Titans squad with the depth that we have at DT. In my mind, Casey, Hill, Martin, and Pitoitua are locks. Johnson will have to battle it out with Klug for the #5 DT spot, but Klug is the favorite there because he's got some versatility whereas Johnson is only a DT. He seems like a camp body to me.

I'll holler MOOOOOkie along with MOOOOOney. We haven't had anything since DREEEEEW and EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE. The fans need these guys to stick!

Mookie did play NT for the Colts, maybe he can be the type of guy we'd look to be the back up SLH.

Mookie will be in a battle with Klug, Harris, Charles, and Pitoitua (if we view him as a DT). Far from a lock.

Well...Pitoitua is listed as a DT on ESPN's depth chart, while he's listed as a DE on the Titans' website depth chart. Even though he played DE in Kansas City's 3-4 DEF, my guess is that he'll play mostly DT in our system -- given his size (6'8, 320lbs).

But I'm definitely interested to see some of the camp battles this year...
DT: Klug vs. Pitoitua vs. Johnson vs. Harris vs. Clayton vs. Charles
DE: Klug vs. Pitoitua vs. Solomon vs. Dawson
CB: Wreh-Wilson vs. Sensabaugh vs. Campbell vs. Wooten

Yeah, he's not a bad player. Tore his ACL with us, if I remember right. Then went on to a solid run with the Colts. Not sure why he'd sign here with the depth we have at the position.

I'd have a hard time seeing Johnson make it,

I think in the end our D-Line will look something like:

LE: Derrick Morgan, LaVar Edwards
DT: Sammie Lee Hill, Stefon Charles
DT: Jurrell Casey, Mike Martin, Karl Klug
RE: Kamerion Wimbley, Keyunta Dawson

I think 43 teams generally hold onto 9 D-Lineman on the 53 man roster, and I think it will really come down to Klug, Ropati and Charles for the last spot among D-Lineman. I would choose Klug and Charles but the coaches may choose to go with Ropati and Klug and try to stash Charles away on the practice squad.

Klug, Ropati, Edwards, Charles will all compete for a chance to be the top multi-position player on the line. I think Edwards will solidify himself enough as a backup to Morgan that he will assure his roster spot there. That leaves Klug, Ropati and Charles. All 3 have history at DE and DT on different levels of football. A large part will be how Charles plays in training camp obviously, because I'm projecting him being able to translate. But he seems like the most fluid athlete, although he's also probably the stoutest at DT.

Klug needs to show he can play some DE during training camp, and show he can still pressure from the inside even though he's only 280. To me, Ropati is odd man out because he's just not quick enough to play DE unless it's on sure-fire run plays, and he's too tall that he'll lack leverage at DT in the run game.

Now, if Abraham, or another DE does sign. I think we'll probably 5 DEs and 4 DTs

Gotta think we were one of the few teams interested, or else he thinks he's on the same level as the guys we have.

I just don't see him having an opportunity, with the contract we gave SLH he'll have every opportunity to start. Martin was a pretty high pick and played well as a rookie, Casey is a stud and starter. There's 3 guys locked up, we will likely only carry 4

We'll have to see how he plays and what he plays in camp to really know for sure, but I think he'll likely play DE.

If you took his exact frame and just shrunk him a few inches I think he'd be a guy that was 6'4" 290. He doesn't really seem to have the frame to be a guy at DT that we've been trying to get.

Seldomly do we see guys who are 6'7-6'8" 315-320 at the DT position really exceed they just can't get the leverage against the shorter guards in the league. Our guards are both 6'2" and I think given a one on one against Ropati they would both eat him for lunch

That's not a bad DL at all. Personally, I think it's still likely that we sign a cheap veteran who can serve as a pass-rush specialist (i.e. John Abraham, Dwight Freeney, etc.), which would make Dawson expendable. Plus, I'd probably guess that we'd keep Pitoitua and move Charles to the practice squad as you suggested.

My prediction:
LDE: Derrick Morgan, Lavar Edwards
DT: Sammie Lee Hill, Ropati Pitoitua
DT: Jurrell Casey, Mike Martin, Karl Klug
RDE: Kamerion Wimbley, John Abraham

Regardless, I think any DL lineup that we throw out there this year will be an improvement over last year's DL -- especially if Casey can stay healthy.

Sewell and Wort out already. Looks like Sewell has a CFL career ahead of him. Wort apparently failed a physical. Bummer.

Disappointing news about Sewell. When I listened to an interview I heard him say that he was not interested in being a practice squad player and if he wasn't going to be on the 53 man roster he would pursue interest in the CFL.

I really thought he would have a chance to compete to backup at one of the backup OT spots. I feel both losses leave us a little thin at OT and MLB for training camp

I wish we had just signed Will Compton instead of Wort
