I tend to agree, Ogden was freakier. But Staley is not the starter on this list, so I can't understand all the discussion about him.

The lack of Gronk in this thread disturbs me. The entirety of his 1st 3 years have been one prodigious display of freakishness over another. Both on the field and off of it.

I don't really consider Gronk that much of a freak, he is a great player and has dominated, but Idk if he's a huge freak.

He doesn't have the speed of Cook, Davis or Keller. He doesn't have the change of direction like Davis, Hernandez or early Gates

He has this thing called strength. None of those guys you listed above can even compare to how functionally strong Gronk is. Whereas Gronk can outrun corners, nobody above can break 2 tackles with guys draped over their backs, rag doll defensive ends trying tackle them, drag a very good linebacker 10 yards to the endzone, blow an OLB ten yards off the LOS on an off tackle play, or pancake a DT on a trap block. Gronk may pound for pound be the strongest player in the NFL while still being in the same ballpark athletically as the guys listed above.

Hernandez is more of a freak than Gronk. Gronk is merely a good football player.

Herschel Walker should be on there over Dickerson.

Never injured. Never lifted a weight in his life.

So wrong on so many levels.

But there's also this...

I still have no idea what Quinn Johnson thought he was doing on that return. I'm pretty sure he was just trying to avoid hitting Connolly.

He just took a terrible angle and then was completely caught off guard when Dan started sprinting (until he was going outside, he was just kind of jogging it up) and was actually moving pretty fast.

If he tried to hit Connolly, he probably misses, Sergio Brown blocks Crosby, Sammy Morris blocks #20, and Connolly walks into the end zone.

The Norfolk product put up incredible combine numbers. The problem with Watson is that he has never played like a freak.

As far as Hernadez, he's simply a better athlete. He's a TE that can legitimately play running back because of his speed and uncanny agility for someone his size. Pretty much no one agrees with you that Gronk is in the freak category.

When I get more time, I will make an overwhelming amount of GIF's that illustrate how hilariously wrong you are.

Everything Black Bolt is saying in this thread is wrong.

Ben Watson never played like a freak? He didn't put up Gronk numbers, but he certainly ran by safeties and corners and became a very good blocking TE (why they could afford to let Daniel Graham go). He also had one of the most ridiculous touchdowns by a TE ever against Jacksonville in the 2006 playoffs.

Eric Dickerson can't even sniff Herschel's bobsled tights as an athlete.

If you don't think Gronk is an incredible freak of an athlete, there's just something wrong with you.
