That's kind of how it works though. You've drafted ok, but so have other teams in your division. Your main problem is always trading up for name recognition. You don't have enough picks to get quality depth. Your FO was just complete garbage.

Honestly, I see an old team. A team whose window closed a couple years ago. And a team that hasn't really begun to reload yet. A team in total denial of where it's actually at.

Simply the Jets are a team still on it's decline and I don't see where the franchise has even started it's rebuild. Your contract situation is so totally fubared, that you're really not even ready to doze your foundation for another 2 years.

NY looks like they are facing a 7 year rebuild from this point. It's going to be 2015 before they can even start their '5 year plan'. They haven't even come close to rock bottom yet. I don't think that franchise is looking up anytime in the '10s.

You have Ferguson and Mangold from 2006. They resigned. But your core talent that should be the foundation of your team is entirely missing. The 3-5 year vets. Revis is gone. Keller left at his first opportunity for a 1 year 'show me deal'. That's a 'just get me out of NY as fast as possible' statement. I'd say that's where your 2009/10 classes were headed as well, but those drafts were so bad it'd be doing you a favor to let them walk.

The Jets are rotted from within. The franchise is in a highly toxic state. You can't resign your rookie deals because A: You can't afford it and B: They aren't worthy of resigning. This is the case for the next 2 years. And really outside of Wilkerson, it's that way for the next 5 years as it stands right now.

Next year, maybe the year after that you'll look fondly at a time where you were picking in hour 2 on day 1. Because it looks like you're going to be turning your card in before the second commercial break for a long time.

The good news is, Idzik was instrumental in the process here in Seattle. We were in the exact same position. A QB needing replaced. A draft history where we had virtually nothing to show for 4 years of draft picks. Seattle was in a position to jettison the roster immediately -- a position that NY is not currently in. However even those contracts that were painful to cut -- Idzik and Schneider made those cuts. Even when it meant we were paying for players to play for other teams.

I wouldn't expect to feast on your division for 3-4 wins anymore. Right now it's the Jets that are the sickly member of the herd. Other young/broken teams are eying them as wins. Not the other way around.
