Moe was waived because of an injury to his achilles.

I was really hoping to see him make the 53.

I'm pretty sure he's still lying in the fetal position under his desk following the Super Bowl loss last year.

No further questions from me. I had my couple of weeks in that state, somehow I recovered.

Dennard carted off the practice field today. ****.

Rasi looking very solid once again however has me pretty optimistic, until he gets wheeled off as well. I just love the durability of our top 3 DBs.

That blows, just heard about Dennard. Hopefully it ends up being a scare but getting carted off is never a good thing. I still have faith in Dowling, but like you said he just can't stay healthy. If Dennard goes down that could be bad news.

If Dennard is OK and Dowling and Talib stay healthy...

Our CBs could be something good this year.

I felt the same way the McCourty, Bodden, Arrington, Dowling, and Butler year. Needless to say I'm naturally a bit skeptical.

Oh, I definitely am not counting on it happening. Dowling has never proven to be anything but soft. Talib however is playing for a contract. I almost expect him to be healthier than average.

I am actually feeling quietly confident about the defense this year, not expecting elite, but definitely avergae to top 15 or so which is a major improvement.

You look at most defenses around the league and there is always at least one weakness. The Pats have question marks at one DE spot, 3 technique and strong safety.

However Nink is a really solid player and who knows what Collins can bring. I don't think it will be a position of strength but there is something to work with.

3 technique is an unknown. Tommy Kelly has played at a very high level before but I'm not sure if he is done or just needed out of Oakland and Armstead has a high ceiling but at this point is an unknown.

Strong safety has some potential to be very good. Adrian Wilson may not be able to defend the deep half but can play that S/LB tweener role. Tavon Wilson may show improvement and Gregory is dependable depth.

Overall, this defense has a lot of talent and what has changed from recent years is the depth. It is silly of me to think we will play our top players every snap of every game, however I don't think we will get to the point of seeing a guy like Cole or Edelman playing meaningful snaps at DB.

The depth at DT is worrying, if Jones goes down I don't we have a difference maker at DE, however we are 5 deep at LB, nice depth at CB and the best depth at safety I can remember on this team.

And remember, we don't need a shutdown defense, just one that can step up in the right moments to allow the offense to do its thing

I think it's too early to discount Jake Bequette or Michael Buchanan as specialist.

Collins also gives Hightower to put his hand down when the Patriots need it. (or visa versa).

I'm really looking forward to our LB battle this year. Mayo, Spikes, and Hightower are the big names, but our reserves look really good as well. I suspect we'll see some Wilson playing as a nickel backer, and I think Ninko will be relieved of his starting spot at some point as well by either Francis, Armstead, Buchanon, or Bequette, freeing him to play a bit more LB as well.

We'll have a healthy Fletcher who will probably battle for a roster spot with Beauharnais which is a shame because I'm pretty high on both of them. Beauharnais played the same role at Rutgers that Hightower did at Alabama, except he played it better. He was able to get some good pressure with his hand in the dirt, and has really good instincts albeit with limited range in pass coverage. He's probably my favorite pick in our entire class. If you have 30 minutes to spare watch his highlight package that is on youtube. I was shocked after watching it that this guy was a 7th rounder.

I've always loved Fletcher too. He brings it on ST, and still has a lot of upside as a coverage and blitzing LB. The Bruschi comparison always sticks out in my head because of the switch from DL to LB. If there is any way to fit him on this team I would love to be able to do it.

Then there is Collins who admittedly is a huge wildcard for a ton of reasons.

I actually think my head is going to explode thinking of the possibility of Tebow running the wildcat and heaving a duck downfield to Michael Jenkins

I don't see the big deal. He was brought in for a guy who wasn't going to make the roster (Kafka). He himself isn't a lock to make the roster. I doubt he is getting more than the veteran minimum. So, we basically dump one free QB for a better one. Seems like an upgrade to me. If the media becomes an issue, we'll ship him to Cleveland.

If anyone thinks Belichick is stupid enough to take Brady (the best QB in the NFL!) off the field for a guy who has trouble hitting receivers in an offense built around YAC... Someone should get you your white jacket now.

He's a good kid with more athleticism then people seem to remember.

Everyone keeps assuming Belichick made the decision, but Belichick does allow his other coaches to make decisions. Dante Scarnecchia drafted Nate Solder, for example. I'm sure Belichick had enough confidence in Josh McDaniels to allow him to cut a 3rd string camp arm for his guy.

Let's not be silly. The best case scenario for this signing is a guy who plays in 2-3 years. I haven't even seen contract details yet. If he's on the field in NE in any time less than that, either Brady hurt himself or the Patriots have moved him to TE/H-Back.

Leave it to a Giants fan to talk some sense to you guys.

I've been an anti-Patriot guy since the Luck of the Snow Tuck BS.
But I've gained more respect for Brady over the past 5 years, and now I gain some for the Hoody.
I automatically root for Tebow, so on the Pats, that's a strange feeling for me, to actually perhaps root for them.

Last time I rooted FOR the Patriots (aside from when I had big $ on them) was....... Tony Eason vs Jim McMahon I think. That changes now if Timmy the Gospel is on the club.

Belichick does have the biggest ballz afterall, clearly. Damn.

Pretty much this.. I'm so furious with this decision that you can't even imagine. Also, J-Mike get the **** out with your bible-hugging Teblow-love. I truely hope that Teblow breaks both his legs and his spine on his way to NE.. Watching him in a NE jersey will be the worst thing ever.

It has actually been ridiculous reading all the media reports this morning about this signing.

Common thoughts can be split into 2 sides

1. Positive -

Tebow is a low risk pick up who is an upgrade over Mike Kafka - Okay I can buy this. Tebow has starting experience and has won in the NFL.

Tebow is a winner - I think this is an asinine thing to say. He didn't win much with the Jets, and anyway, how can you quantify something like saying he is a winner?

He will bring versatility - This is the one that I don't like. Firstly, he hasn't shown anything that points to him being able to add anything to this team. I made a post about this a while ago. Tebow will not be the back up QB. If they are looking for runners then Ridley, Vereen and the rest are all better. If he could catch he would still be like the 7th or 8th best TE on the roster.

He could be part of some creative packages - No way Belichick tells Brady to line up at WR so Tebow can run up the middle. Brady will not be left open to the possibility of getting jammed.

2. Negative -

This is Belichick's ego - I don't buy this one. The Pats have a history of bringing in cheap vets with a mantra of throw everything against the wall and see what sticks.

He is doing it as a favour for McDaniels and Urban Meyer - Don't buy this one either. Belichick would sell his own mother it helped the team. I don't see him picking up a guy who could be a potential distraction just to friendly.

It will cause a circus - I really don't think it will, save for a few occassions this week and at the start of camp. The stories of Tebow working out on the exercise bike and taking 3rd team reps will get old, quickly.

Overall, the pickup doesn't make a ton of sense to me but I don't think it's horrendous. The Pats normally only carry 2 QBs on the roster and Kafka wasn't going to make it. Why keep him round if you think Tebow can give you more?

Belichick isn't the type of coach to play someone when there is someone better. He has let proven, long term vets go because he thought he could get better production.

Tebow probably doesn't have a place on this team. He is probably a long shot to make the roster. If he does, I have no idea where he will play or what he will do

I don't like this for so many reasons. I do think it may have a tiny bit to do with Meyer/McDaniels, but let's be honest, we don't have to invest much in Tebow. We can get rid of him if we want. On the field, it is a low risk move. It is everything that comes with him that I cannot stand, not to mention he is just not a good quarterback by any stretch of the imagination.

That's why I'm not kicking puppies right now, it's not like we traded a pick or gave him a big, guaranteed contract. If he sucks the place up then he won't make it on the roster. If he shows something, anything, then it is a win for BB.

And let's be honest, with rosters at 90 spots right now, we weren't expecting anything from the 90th guy.

Tebow irritates me too, but he won't be in the spotlight here. There is no QB controversy. He won't be having press conferences. Pats fans won't be screaming for Tebow to get on the field. Belichick will deflect every single question asked about him.
