7. Roethlisberger
6. Brees
5. Ryan
4. Flacco

Can't say I agree with Jaws here as the list continues.

I agree with you, to me the top tier is Manning, Rodgers and Brady. Brees is the leader of the 2nd tier which included Eli, Ben, Flacco and Ryan

im starting to wonder what brees needs to do to get the respect he deserves. he has been robbed of MVPs multiple times by now and has arguably been the most productive passer of the last 6 seasons. Yes Payton helps his passing game but its not like he has had the wealth of receiving option rodgers has had nor did he have a great line. I can get putting him anywhere within the top 4 but beyond that its a joke

How can he fill a void on the worst defense in NFL history? If you think of it, the offense (which leadership he can control on and off field) didnt do so bad at all.

I seriously wonder what Brees has to do to get the recognition he deserves. Sure, he threw tied for most INTs last year, when our OTs was subpar and we had a lot of dropped and tipped passes by our skill players. I can recall at least two INTs were Grahams fault, probably more. The year before in 11 he threw only 14 INTs in 657 attempts.....

I don't think he was ever robbed of an MVP award. It wasn't really a travesty the year Aaron Rodgers won it and Peyton Manning did with Brees in the running.

And I'm not sure how Brees isn't respected throughout the NFL. He's annually a top three quarterback when media scribes weight in on their opinion.

This completely makes you forget that on the last 3 drives he had three and outs, where he threw high, into congested spaces, and looked erratic. He's not a tempo QB who gets into a rhythm consistently and who can manufacture offense when things aren't working correctly. He has never scored points consistently, or not turned the ball over at an above average rate. He had 1 good season in Denver where he was essentially Stafford from last year, and that's who we say Cutler could BECOME if he had a perfect supporting cast. 23 PPG and turning the ball over well above the norm.

To me Cutler is solidly in the bottom half of QB's. His game is so flawed 8 years in, and he's essentially produced like Ryan Fitzpatrick. Cutler is pretty much JAG with damn impressive tools.
See, I don't get the love for Cutler. It was all potential really after his one good year in Denver, which as its stated, was what Stafford put up last year.
He hasn't progressed, he still makes stupid throws all the time and drive killing turnovers. Last year he got reunited with Marshall, still was average. His one good year in Denver, he still produced 20 turnovers.

Its like Jake Plummer to me in the sense an average QB who gets hyped up always, yet is just that, an average QB. Get a coach who schemes and gameplans like crazy to hide the gigantic flaws, and you're good, like Shanahan did with Plummer, but ultimately you can only do that so long before the flaws come out.

What more recognition do you guys think Brees deserves? Everytime anyone mentions the elite QB's in the game right now Brees is in that conversation, every time. How is he not getting respect or recognition?

Manning getting it over Brees in 2009 was a joke and 2008 was iffy at best as well. In both years Brees had higher passer rating, more TDs and quite frankly was just better. In 09 he even had way fewer turnovers.

That he didnt win the mvp in one of those two years was just wrong. Hell, Brees had a better claim to get it over rodgers in 2011 than manning did in either of those two years to get it over Brees

He is the only one of the top guys who always gets comment of the pass happy offense, he is consistently getting the fourth spot in that top 4 four some reason whilst he took the NFLs worst franchise and made it into a perennial contender and this is with one of the worst drafting teams, without a single receiver pro bowl receiver in any of those years. Sometimes im baffled its still a manning vs brady debate when brees has performed in line or better in most of the last 7 years.

Also, give the guy a damn MVP already

I don't want to downplay Brees because I'm a huge fan of his; but before the neck problems, Manning deserved MVP almost every year. He was very clearly the best player in the NFL.

thats the issue i had with it, almost felt like the MVP was mannings to lose and unless he screwed up he was going to get it.

It would be like when Karl Malone got the MVP just because they didn't want to keep giving it to MJ.

Brees is elite, but when Manning was/is on, no one compares.

Pretty much this. I mean, you want to bring up 2008, the Saints finished 8-8 that year while the Colts went 12-4.
I mean, the one year, the only year I can think of for Brees to win it was 2009.

Last year Manning was in the running for MVP and only lost it due to Adrian Peterson's near record setting season.

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned, Brees is in serious contention for being one of the top 10 quarterbacks of all-time.

Christian Ponder too low.

Im with you about Schaub. I dont see anything special about him, he is more or less an upper echelon game manager imo. I guess he is that high because guys like Luck, RG3 and Wilson needs to prove themself for more than one season, and Jaws really like his classic pocketpassers. I dont think I would put him higher than 15 or so.

Mark Sanchez is way too high, he should be 32. There is no argument for him not being the worst in the league after the atrocity that was the Jets 2012 season.

I disagree. I think he was totally robbed in 2011. Rodgers had a great year with 45 TDs and only 6 picks, but Brees shattered the all-time yardage mark. Rodgers won the award because his team was better. It would be like Adrian Peterson running for 2300 yards and giving the MVP to Ray Rice for an 1800 yard season because the Ravens won the Super Bowl.

Brees threw 155 more times than Rodgers that year, of course he's going to have more yards.

i mainly just think between 08, 09 and 11 brees shouldve at least won one with 09 being the most logical year as he had records (completion %), led his team to a great record, and had more TDs, less turnovers, way higher yards per attempt, a substantially higher passing rating and was within a few yards with like 70 fewer attempts than manning

Like another poster stated, Brees had more attempts, which is why he had more yards. Aaron Rodgers actually averaged more per pass attempt. He also doesn't play in a dome. His touchdown percentage was also higher that season and his interception percentage was lower. We can go back and forth about these factors all day, which is why I don't think Brees got robbed that year with the MVP award.
