I'm bored so here's a 53 man roster projection. Bold- gameday inactives

QB: Kaepernick (McCoy, Tolzien)
RB/FB: Gore (Hunter, James, Miller, Dixon)
TE: Davis (McDonald, Celek)
WR: Boldin, Williams (Patton, Moore, Collie, Jenkins)
OL: Staley, Davis, Iupati, Boone, Kilgore (Goodwin, Snyder, Looney)

DL: Smith, Williams, McDonald (Dobbs, Dorsey,)
OLB: Brooks, Smith (Lemonier, Haralson, Skuta)
ILB: Willis, Bowman (Wilhoite, Moody)
CB: Brown, Rogers (Asomugha, Brock, Cox, Morris)
S: Reid, Whitner (Dahl, Spillman, Robinson)

K: Dawson
P: Lee
LS: Jennings

KR/PR: James, Cox, Williams

PS: BJ Daniels, DJ Harper, Ricardo Lockette, Carter Bykowski, Al Netter, Lawrence Okoye, Marcus Cooper, Michael Thomas

PUP: Crabtree, Manningham
IR: Culliver, Fleming, Carswell, Debniak
NFI: Lattimore, Marquardt, Carradine, Dial

Notable cuts: Kassim Osgood, Chad Hall, Will Tuakufu, Cam Johnson

If/when Carradine and Dial get back, whoever the bottom 2 players elsewhere on the roster will go- possibly a WR like Collie, and maybe Dixon if we like our other Special Teamers (with his 50 carries the last 2 years, i don't see him as a guy we can count on consistently on offense).

Morris over Eric Wright?

I'd hate to see Osgood go. He really is a HOF caliber ST player.

Too many bodies needed elsewhere to waste a spot on a UDFA 6th string CB, who probably wouldn't suit up for a game this year.

DeMarcus Dobbs is suspended one game without pay. Sucks.

Quote:
The San Francisco 49ers issued a press release a few minutes ago, stating the defensive lineman Demarcus Dobbs was suspended for one game for violating the NFL Substance Abuse policy. Dobbs will miss the the team's season opener against the Green Bay Packers. Dobbs would not count against the 53-man roster during his one-game suspension.

Madden 25 player ratings for the 49ers and Ravens. Obviously I only posted this year for the 49ers which is halfway through the video. If you care that is.

I played the demo of Madden NFL 25 and I wasnt impressed. The camera is too far away. And im not a fan of removing auto sprint. I thought that was one of the best ideas Tiburon has had in years but like others, now its gone.

I wasnt going to buy it but because NFL Sunday Ticket will no longer be available on PS3, I have to buy M25 collector's edition which includes NFL ST. $100 total. I actually save $200.

Love the OL - Staley at 96, Iupati at 95, Goodwin at 85, Boone at 89 and Davis at 90.

And I dont like that Brock is rated higher than Cox. That annoys me. Reid being 76 isnt too bad. I had an interception with him in the only game I played with the demo and won 24-14. I would play the demo more but im currently playing The Last Of Us and im just waiting until the actual game is released.

Only saw the first quarter. Mixed bag. Our offensive line didn't look that great. And Scott Tolzien and Colt McCoy looked horrible. Even when they had time to pass. I'm tuning into the game again now. It's almost the fourth quarter and BJ Daniels is now coming into the game with the 49ers back up into their own endzone. Sad.

My 3 main issues in this game were the receivers, the special teams, and the backup QB's. I think the ST's will be fine Week 1, and our #2 WR is basically our #4 receiving option anyway (and we have a good QB throwing the ball so we're fine there). But our backup QB's were awful for a 2nd game in a row and its a real concern. I don't see why BJ Daniels shouldn't get some reps as the #2 QB next week.

I'd like to also see what BJ Daniels could do with more chances. Maybe he'll get more reps in practice. Chuck Jacobs had another good showing it seems too. AJ Jenkins still hasn't shown anything.

Jenkins had one reception called back because of a holding penalty. Again he mostly played with McCoy and Tolzien who both played terrible.

Yeah. He was only targeted twice. One was overthrown for an interception and the other was a 21 yard catch called back.

I think he was targeted another time. Jenkins either fell down on his route or was pulled down by Sean Smith.

Man McCoy is just bad . I don't think he can make the 53 man roster. I like Daniels a lot more from last nights game. How was McCoy even a starter last couple of years ?

Lemonier was against RT mostly. And some time in coverage.

Reid wasn't involved aside from a beautiful blitz that resulted in an immediate throw-away.

After watching the game again, Jenkins was rarely the 1 or 2 read and McCoy/Tolzien either ran or crumbled under pressure before getting to him.

He was the primary decoy on a reverse-option that went to the RB. He had some space on the three times he was targeted. The first one he was tugged off balance by Sean Smith. The second he had a full stride on the defender yet was thrown a back shoulder and it was intercepted. The third he got open on a deep out but it was called back.

I get that he hasn't shown play-making ability. But I haven't seen him suck, either.

It's not like he's Patrick Omameh out there.

Ehhh....but was he even getting open during the times he was on the field? Perhaps McCoy took off running a couple of times because he wasn't open. It's just weird when you see free agents rookies like Chuck Jacobs find ways to make plays regardless of the circumstances.

I didn't like the move the moment he was signed. He just crumbles under pressure and/or just isn't an accurate passer. I'll take my chances with BJ Daniels any day. At least he has some wheels if the pocket starts breaking down.

Chuck Jacobs was BJ Daniels #1 Read on his catches.

I can tell that McCoy/Tolzien didn't even look at Jenkins because he was on the opposite side of the field than where they were looking before they ran or were rushed.

It's interesting that people see things how they want to see them.

Jacobs got open as a priority read TWICE against a CB that might not make the team.

Jenkins got open on more than two occasions against a starting CB.

Jacobs makes plays and Jenkins is invisible.

Perfect example of why stats are irrelevant in preseason and tape is infinitely more important.

I'm not huge on McCoy's play right now either. He seems to 1 read and done. However, it's another example of how you want to look at it.

You mention legs in the pocket...

BJ Daniels was sacked twice and had 13 yards with his legs.
McCoy was sacked only once and had 37 yards with his legs.

I didn't like McCoy's game, but I felt he looked better than Tolzien.
