Manningham was a starter when he went down. If he comes back before Crabtree, which is likely, he'll probably start.

regardless... 5 or 6 starters out for a game. Why always diminish team's injuries aside from the Pack?

I don't "always".... just looking for a chink in that OL armor there in San Fran, that is all.

Everyone else loses key OL, from Okung to Clady to both of GB's 1st Rd OTs.

Like I said, you have a disturbing, obsessive fetish for injured offensive linemen.

If one of our offensive linemen gets hurt you're going to jizz all over yourself.

Speaking of injuries, especially the knees which I hate:

Here's Mr. Subliminals version:

Both starting quarterbacks were injured in the game. Bills rookie EJ Manuel left after taking a shot to the knees from safety Tashaun Gipson at the end of a run. Gipson got up and celebrated after the hit (because he saw Manuel was down injured), which angered Bills players and led one to call the Browns classless.

"I definitely don't intentionally try to hurt anybody (except the QB that I just hit and celebrated when he didn't get back up)," Gipson said. "I wouldn't dare do that (except in this situation). I'm not that kind of player (usually, because I'm usually late to the play). It's the game of football. Our quarterback took a shot. Their quarterback took a shot (so I wanted to take their QB out). Not to say that we were trying to go one for one (although that's what I did), but it's the game of football (and hell even in baseball, you hit my batter, I will respond by plunking your batter)."

Clay Matthews fractured thumb today vs Detroit.

Rank the biggest 10 impact injuries this season....

San Diego missing 2 big ones for the year in Dwight Freeney and Melvin Ingram.
2 biggies who both rush the passer, that hurts like GBay missing both 1st round OTs.

Clady
Okung
Bulaga & Sherrod
Freeney
Ingram
Gronk so far, huge impact 1/3rd into the season
Crabtree so far, same thing almost as Gronk.
Harvin, although he was a new toy, and although they, like NE, hadn't lost til today.

Jaguars rookie left tackle Luke Joeckel is out for the year after suffering a broken right ankle.

Another 1st Rd OT done.

Sherrod got hurt in 2011, and we have no idea if he was even good to begin with. Listing him as a key injury is borderline irrelevant at this point.

If you're struggling at RT it's because your GM didn't address it in the off season, not because of some injury crippling your team.

Clay Matthews, Pro Bowl OLB, broken thumb yesterday, said to be out the next 4 weeks or perhaps longer.

the fact that he threw that out there and the fact that they are still running tests tells me that it probably isn't good. Most likely going through different opinions in hopes that he can play this year

losing Clay would demolish this defense

Always just an excuse? Nice cliché, but not true.
Injuries have serious impact on teams, obviously. RG3 showed that. Adrian Peterson showed that.

HISTORY LESSON

I still remember how the 49ers lost the NFC Championship game to the NY Giants in 1991. It was because of an injury to Joe Montana from a hit by Leonard Marshall. That ended the Niners 3-peat that would have happened, if not for that injury.

Wow, here is the play from youtube.... wicked shot. He had almost 6 seconds to throw it....

Quote:
With one hellacious tackle, Leonard Marshall changed the landscape of football on Jan. 20, 1991. In the fourth quarter of the Giants' 15-13 win over the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, Marshall, a defensive end, blasted Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana from his blindside so hard that Montana suffered a bruised sternum, bruised stomach, crushed ribs and a broken hand.

Montana, who won four Super Bowls with San Fran, would never play another down for the 49ers.

Crabtree will be back. All 5 OL.... Willis, Bowman, Smith, Smith, Brooks, Gore, LaMichael James, Kendall Hunter, Vernon Davis, Boldin, Hitner, Reid, Carlos Rogers, even the great punter Andy Lee..... who's notable that you've lost for the year? Some DL depth?

History shows that the 49ers were winning the game long after Montana was knocked out of it. Roger Craig's fumble with 2:00 left had alot more to do with it.

And the same history lesson includes Jeff Hostetler. The Giants backup QB who lead them to the Super Bowl title.

Look at the "notable" list and you'll see several backups.

Starting NT - Ian Williams
Starting CB - Chris Culliver

I suspect the game would have been finished and called a little differently and history altered had Joe not been KO'd.

I thought Niner fans hated Culliver, and wanted him kicked off the team when he expressed his personal opinions on fruitty men.

By the way, Jerry Rice still fumbled.
1998 playoff game.

See...

You antagonize for zero reason and then lead the anti-49ers' fans brigade when we defend our fanbase. You're better than that.

And why mention the "I thought people hated Culliver?" Does that make him less of a starter? And I named two starters. PLUS Manningham and Crabtree aren't guaranteed to have an impact. Yet you say "DL depth?"

The injuries debate would be less annoying if it were articulated with fact and not bias.

;)

I do have reason.
And I think you have more bias than I do.
Enough about us though.

It's clear to me the Chargers have had the worst luck so far, close are the Colts. Patriots losing the Big Man is huge as well.
Denver hasn't seemingly lost a beat missing Clady at LT, somehow. Even faced Demarcus Ware last week.

Matt Elam's cheap shot low tackle, blind shot, into the leg of Randall Cobb has broken Cobb's leg. His season is probably over. He was our most dangerous offensive weapon, our team's Darren Sproles/Reggie Bush/Percy Harvin hybrid, and part of the reason we let Greg Jennings go to the pitiful rival Vikings. Cobb was better younger and cheaper. But Elam shattered those plans for the season. ***** punk ass. I wish for him to break a vertebrae the next time he tucks his helmet down and tries to deliver a kill shot to any defenseless receiver. No I don't want him to be paralyzed, just career to end like happened to Sterling Sharpe and recently Nick Collins in his prime.

Last year's #1 pick OLB Nick Perry broke his foot yesterday in Baltimore, and is lost indefinitely. He was already being counted on to partly fill the shoes of Clay Matthews, 2009 1st round pick, who had surgery last week on his broken thumb. He's out for another month or so.

Both 1st round picks at OT, Derek Sherrod (2011), and Bryan Bulaga (2010) are out for the season. There's some hope Sherrod might return from his double broken leg from 2011, but I'll believe it when I see it. Last year's #2 pick, DT Jerel Worthy, still hasn't returned from his torn ACL suffered in week 17 last season.

This copied from a Packers forum:

Lineup of players that have been injured to varying degrees so far this season:

Offense: Bulaga (IR), Sherrod, Lacy, Starks, JMike, Cobb, JJones, and DuJuan Harris (IR).

Defense: Claymaker, Perry, Brad Jones, Datone Jones, Worthy, Francois (season ender last week), Hayward (hasn't played a down), Burnett, and Sean Richardson

That's an incredible list of players and we are only five games into the season. Once again, we will be one of, if not THE, league leaders for most games missed by starters.

Packers starting LBers 2 weeks ago:

Matthews - Hawk - B Jones - Perry

Since then, we lost Matthews, Jones, and Perry, and Jones backup Francois tore his Achilles last week and his season is over.

That's at LB.
The big3 WR's is now down to Jordyz.
Both of our #1 draft picks at OT are out, as usual.
We're missing 2 key RBs in Starks and DuJuan Harris.

We're back at the top of the injury worse list over San Diego & Indianapolis. Back where we're used to being.

So, you're saying you lost one rotational starter and a bunch of D-Line depth?

Is that how it works? ;)

Yeah, and Don Bee Bee was still touched in 1996 before being allowed to race to the endzone.
