Has nothing to do with being able to pick up a yard or 2 when running late in the game, or a boneheaded penalty on our LT that kept 35 seconds from running off the clock. Always something with this team. Besides Ive been told a million times, everybody has injuries and its the next man up. Unfortunately our GM has given us no depth so we have to pick up guys on the street.

The Lions lit up the Dallas defense for 265 yards and 24 points in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys had 268 yards all game.

Pathetic.

from bryan broaddus

Quote:
Normally when the offensive line struggles, Romo is usually there to bale them out, but he wasn't in this game. When he did have to make a throw or two on the move, he was all over the place. His plan of attack was to go early with rookie Terrance Williams and not look in the direction of Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley or even Jason Witten, which I thought was a mistake. Williams is developing as a player, but to target him seven times before you handed the ball to Bryant on a reverse made no sense.

It wasn't until the second half that we saw Bryant really get into the flow of the game. By going away from Bryant early, I thought the offense wasted some opportunities. Romo was never able to make the Lions secondary pay for their coverage.

Yeah I'm not upset about the defense folding to end the game again. We had no business being in that game aside from the Lions giving it to us. Sean Lee easily MVP and our best defensive player.

Our play-calling is atrocious. If Romo is primary reading on Williams that means the play-call dictated it. Why in the world are we not taking shots down the field against 1 on 1 coverage like the Lions did to us?

In any case we got out-coached and out-played on both sides of the ball. The 31-30 scoreline was very generous for the way we played. Sad that as long as we take care of business against our divisional foes we'll be in line for the playoffs.

No, they would have had less than 30 seconds.

lets not start blaming smith for that penalty, b/c the run was supposed to go to the right and tanner reversed field. he's not expecting tanner to be going his way. the person to blame are garrett and callahan. all you need is first down, hell a td would put the game out of reach, instead they go conservative again and again running outside zone stretch plays with no fullback against a 9 man front. they didn't even have dez bryant in the game, just dumb offensive playcalling and design

it was like that all game. get 5,6 or 7 yards on first down run, then on 2nd down run the ball again against an 8 man front with no fullback, just dumb

on the d-line yeah and will allen was playing safety and he's no longer on the team. but in those game they game 400 but not nearly 500 like they gave up today and even though they gave up yards those guys forced turnovers. normally if a team gives up 600 yards of offense on the road, they would normally have more than 7 points by the 4th quarter.

plus if you have all those backups on defense, dont cha think it would be smart to more aggressive on offense and instead of relying on backups on defense to win you games on the road

Thats even worse. Why hold when the play isnt even coming to your side. If he held because he saw Tanner coming to his side, its just a dumb play. Hes got to know the situation. If he doesnt hold, we win. Bottom line.

When your up by 6 with less than a min to go and the opponent is 80 yards away, yeah, your D needs to come through. It was a bad game all the way around. Plenty of blame for everybody from the coaches down.

no man the play wasn't supposed to come his way but tanner ending coming to his side b/c he was stuffed on the right. i played o-line myself it happens when a guys reverses field and you kinda grab the dude like reflex to prevent him from making the play.

i blame garrett and callahan if you going to be that conservative why not just kneel it and prevent a holding call from happening in the first place

Garrett sucks because he talks like a robot, acts like a robot and coaches like a robot. He makes decisions based off percentages and has no feel for the game. This game takes guts and Garrett doesn't have any.

Thought thats what I responded to? You cant "kinda grab a dude" in that situation, thats just dumb football. If he would have just kneeled it and we wound up missing the FG, Garrett would be getting crucified for that too. Might have worked, might not have. I didnt have a problem with the call, just have to be smarter.

but not when you 2 rookie udfa in the game, all it takes is one big play and that what happened. i would never trust a backup rookie in that situation. b/c you know there going to have to make a play b/c you don't have a pass rush.

imo the cowboys should have been aggressive and not let a team that already 500+ yards get the ball back. did denver allow us the ball back? no, b/c their defense had been torched all day and they didn't want them to have to get back on the field. same scenario here get a first down and run the clock out don't let a qb with 400+ yards passing and a receiver with 290 yards receiving at get another opportunity. just like 2 years ago on the road against the patriots we got a stop late from the d, instead trying to get a first down and salt away the victory we played conservative and let the other team get another opportunity, only to see them score. how many times must we see the same scenario be played out over and over again?

he already grabbing the guy, but once tanner goes the other way as o-line you're now out of frame if you don't let him go immediately you'll get the flag, i guarantee it happens 2 or 3 times each week in the nfl, it just happens sometimes. really you can blame tanner too for reversing field and causing smith to hold. if memory serves me correct hanna got that same penalty against san diego or one of those games earlier in the season

Broddus just said Leary was holding on the same play too. Had to be called. Oh well its over now. Maybe at some point we'll win one of these toss up games and actually win 3-4 in a row.

Even in the passing game hes a non factor. Was Worford avalible with our 2nd round pick? I know he was starting today for Detroit. IDK...this team always has something thats not right. Its so frustrating!
I'm not interested in what they did in the 2nd rd of the draft, I'm more concerned with this conservative, over protective take no chances with romo game plan and play calling. They seem to be afraid to let him make some throws and trust that Dez wins. 3 and 12 with the game on the line dez isn't on the field and they run with tanner lol You just gave Romo all this cash, let him throw the ball!! When you play not to lose, most of the time ironically you lose.

You dont throw the ball when the other team has no TO's and a minute and a half to go and your up by 3. EVER. You run the clock which is what we were trying to do if not for a dumb penalty. Its coaching 101. What your suggesting is just dumb.

It seems they let him cut loose against Denver and he threw that pick and brought out all the criticism and since then they went conservative again.

it was like that all game. get 5,6 or 7 yards on first down run, then on 2nd down run the ball again against an 8 man front with no fullback, just dumb
Let's definitely not blame the guy who actually committed the penalty, definitely not. I think I get to use one of those fancy emoticons now......

Isn't that the point I was making earlier? haha
