Default Mock, Mock, Mock, A fun one, one rounder...

A couple new faces and some old ones from my original mock. I already know most of the picks will be horrible, suck, and I should give it up. I just can not help myself, so please let me know why :) I believe the current order is correct, but it is going to ebb and flow as it does every year until the Super Bowl is over, so please dont harp on it, as I dont care. I appreciate all constructive criticism and team feedback provided, Bon Appetit!

Why, you ask? ....you know.

But I'll add. QB with the first pick, ok, but Zach? Is he worth it? I think it would be a mistake to get too hung up on the Cam Cameron connection. CB with the 2nd? Not sure there as well. Buster Skrine is having a Brent Grimes like breakout year opposite Haden. The lack of a running game is what might hold this team from making a playoff run this year. Cyril probably makes the most sense there.

After bringing in DeAndre Hopkins i think the Texans have some more pressing needs at that point in the first round, namely Johnny Manziel.

Good Bears pick but Nix should be the pick if he falls to us.

Is Zach worth it? IMO right now, no, I have moved him up from a late round developmental prospect to a late first round value, proving he can make the reads and NFL throws needed to win in most systems from the pocket. We both know QB's get pushed up the board. Honestly the Cameron connection means little to me, the ability operate in the system (not a perfect match, IMO but a good fit) and continue his development is why I like it. Now I have only seen 2 Browns games and will defer to yourself and other Browns people to shed further light on my ignorance. I also like Zach more than Mallett coming out and isnt Lombardi rumored to like Mallett?

As for CB, I did not know Skrine was having a "Grimes breakout" year. I still dont like him matched up vs. bigger recievers, but I could see how that would push CB down the need side of the Browns board. If it helps ease the pain of that pick , Richardson was the other consideration with the pick, I just value CB more, especially in that division where I think they pass more than they run now.

Who would you take at 12?

I appreciate the feedback.

I thought long and hard for about 30 seconds about putting Mr. Football there. I just like the Keenum fit, I was higher on him than most coming out (2nd round grade), and like the small sample size that I have seen from him, despite losing the 3 games he has started by only 7 total points. I dont see Keenum being the major issue there right now, although there is still plenty of season left. I also am not on the Manzel in the first round hype train yet, although I do like what I have seen out of him this year. Right now I dont think QB is the more pressing need.

I love Hopkins (had him as a top 20 value in last years draft.), but Andre Johnson who I also have a afinity for is going to be 33 next year and IMO is already on the decline, and counts roughly 12, 16 and 15 million dollars against the cap over the next 3 years, even after restructuring. I honestly dont see him taking a pay cut, and think he and the Texans will part ways in the near future. Watkins IMO is virtually uncoverable one on one and a future stud in the league and a top 5 value who with Hopkins would make one of the brightest young recieving cores in the league.

This is just my opinion, but at this point I would rather have Keenum and Watkins moving forward, rather than Manzel and Johnson.

A clear upgrade IMO, and with the whole Bowe issue right now and long term affects, they are going to need to add weapons to that offense, which I think they already needed to do.

I thought about all the DT's at that pick, but thought with FA and age, CB might be a absolute must early and maybe often in this draft for the Bears.

Do you think Nix is a better DT than Mo-Fo is a CB?

I think the guy they might end up coveting could be Bortles. Big arm, good mobility, and has shown some clutch intangibles. But Lombardi's also raved about the SEC, which is why I think they could be interested in Manziel, whose been unparallelled there. I think Mettenberger is a guy he would've loved 3 yrs ago, but the necessity for mobility in QBs now might have altered his thinking on guys like him and Mallett.

Haven't seen much on Bortles considered a high pick but I expect he will be if he declares. If QB isn't the target high for some reason, I think C.J. Mosley would top their board.

We (Panthers) don't need to waste a premium pick on a linebacker.

Marqise Lee makes the most sense at that point for the Ravens. I'm not a big fan of taking him that early but the board didn't fall in Baltimore's favor. Mosley would be a good pick but I doubt they take another one high in the draft and if Smith re-signs there isn't really a need for one. I think McClain and Bynes are pretty terrible as starters but the team likes them so whatever.

Point taken. I think they could get a good WR in the second or third round as that is where a lot of receivers should be going this year.

As for Manziel a lot of people in the media, like a Mel Kiper, have been impressed with him this season. It would shock me if he didn't go in the first round so going to have to find a place for him somewhere.

I'm ok with it. I've wanted a playmaking TE in Buffalo for years now, and I think Ebron is capable of tearing it up in the NFL as he has really improved his game every year in college.

I can also see his stock rising to the point where we might have to take him top10 to get him.

I could live with Tuitt for my Titans, but I wouldn't be thrilled with it. He's not a great scheme fit, and doesn't offer a ton as a pass rusher - our biggest need.

However, with the way the board fell I could see him being the selection. I would personally prefer Ealy, I think he's a better scheme fit and different maker.

You really think Ebron is going top 10?

I think Mettenberger is a guy he would've loved 3 yrs ago, but the necessity for mobility in QBs now might have altered his thinking on guys like him and Mallett.

Haven't seen much on Bortles considered a high pick but I expect he will be if he declares. If QB isn't the target high for some reason, I think C.J. Mosley would top their board.
I like Bortles, although my personnal opinion is that he goes back for another year and emerges as one of the top two QB prospects heading into the following draft. I do think and agree that he could really a wrench into this years QB class if he declares, and potentially be a high pick.
Manzel... I could see it, I just think he wont be nearly as effective in the NFL, not necessarily because of his height, but rather his style of play, IMO he's like the hobbit version of Brett Farve minus the arm talent. If that makes any sense...
I love this "necessity" for mobility debate I have been having with other folks lately. I dont mean this to be ugly, I just find it very interesting. Brew Brees, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady? Mobile? Not really, more like able to shift/slide in the pocket more that anything else, but they are more than effective not rushing at all, so is that the type of mobility you are talking about or are you talking making plays out of the pocket? I understand how current beliefs could alter his thinking, but do think Mettenberger is capable of being an effective slider within the pocket. Regardless, point taken.

I thought of Mosley there, do you think they would covet a ILB type that high with the current roster and state of pass defenses in the league?

Why? Isnt Chase B, a stop gap who was out of the league recently and on the wrong side of 30. Does T. Davis have any original parts in his knees? Has he made it a full year in the last 6, and also on the the wrong side of 30?

Seemed to pan out with Keuchly... I think Van Noy could do a great job with Luke in Nickel packages, blitzing, covering and run stopping, and would give them a fantastic pair of LB's moving forward.

I thought about Purifioy there at CB, but had Van Noy rated higher.

I know LB might not top the list of Panthers needs, but with the board falling as it did, who would you recommend?

I think McClain and Bynes are pretty terrible as starters but the team likes them so whatever.
That pretty much sums up my thinking, didnt know they were high on McClain and Bynes. Appreciate it :)

As for Manziel a lot of people in the media, like a Mel Kiper, have been impressed with him this season. It would shock me if he didn't go in the first round so going to have to find a place for him somewhere.
I think so as well, in regards to getting a good WR in the 2nd/3rd round, I just think Watkins is special and can dictate coverage to a certain point, more than anyone in a later round could. I could see them going Manzel and someone like J. Matthews with their first two picks, certainly with in the realm of possibility IMO.

Yes they have been falling more in love with Johnny Boy more this year, I think he could and probably will go in the first, I thought about him going to the Texans and Browns respectively, even the Cardinals as a possibility. I would bet he is gone come the third round, but not shocked either way if he were to go in the first or second rounds myself. I am looking forward to watching him and potentially Bortles should they declare, go through the off season pre-draft process.

You and me both.... I do think the same, I have more of Ebron to watch, but I really like the growth, things I have read about him and tape I have seen of him so far. I think he is a future star. He reminds me alot or Vernon Davis (minus the ridiculous straight line speed) coming out, and like Davis I can see him going in the top 10. Note: I dont think he is quite V. Davis good.

Value wise, IMO there is better on the board (Mack, Matthews, Kouandjio, etc.), but not so great that it would over shadow the need, although it was a tough call between the two of them (Ebron and Mack, w/Matthews/Kouandjio being a close 3rd).
