Just added a bunch of new names today and we are now at 75!

So we have Tajh Boyd, Derek Carr, David Fales, Stephen Morris and Logan Thomas confirmed as having accepted invitations. Even with Aaron Murray out of the picture due to an injury that only leaves one more quarterback spot for either A.J. McCarron or Jimmy Garoppolo and obviously the local Bama star is a heavy favorite. That's both a surprise and kind of disappointing because I know a lot of people were looking forward to seeing Garoppolo.

The Senior Bowl also confirmed that Michael Sam of Missouri will likely be playing OLB in Mobile.

It is disgraceful for Logan Thomas to be invited as a QB to any Senior all star game.

Absolutely as a quarterback.

Thomas is much more highly-thought of in league circles than he is by the media and draftniks. In fact there are many in the league who still think he will be a second or third round pick.

Based on what? His size and arm strength? He's a dumber version of Jamarcus Russell who's considerably less NFL ready. I understand he'll be drafted, but anything higher than the 7th Round is a major reach.

Based on incredible potential.

Big. Athletic. Strong Arm. Etc.

Remember the NFL Draft is about projecting what a player can be, not what they are.

Just to be clear I wouldn't take Logan Thomas on Day 2. :o)

I think he's exactly what you're looking for in a developmental quarterback in the middle rounds though. The Senior Bowl performance is going to be a huge part of the evaluation and I have a feeling it will swing his stock greatly in one direction or the other. Stay tuned!

I completely agree. I would have loved for Garoppolo to get an invite but I understand why they gave it to a guy like Thomas. Everybody can see his upside and the Senior Bowl is going to give teams a chance to see him up close and hopefully figure why he hasn't lived up to his potential and how likely it is that they can "fix" him. If he responds well to the coaching and shows noticeable improvement then it's likely that you'll see a team willing to take a chance on him in the 2nd/3rd. If he doesn't show any improvements after a week of practice with an NFL coaching staff then you can say he's probably never going to figure it out and in that case he's more of a 6th/7th round project.

I haven't seen a game of Logan Thomas's since his sophomore season, but going into his junior year, I really thought he was a Cam Newton clone and would be the #1 overall pick either last year or this year.

What happened to the guy?

Development just stagnated. Actually regressed as a junior.

Bounced back a little as a senior but is still just too inconsistent.

Added Montana OLB Jordan Tripp to the list.

Jimmy Garappolo, QB from Eastern Illinois(The school that gave us Tony Romo)

This also implies no invite for AJ McCarron(unless he rejected an invite or they invite more than 6 QB's)

I cannot even begin to wrap my mind around the idea Logan Thomas would get invited as a QB but A.J. McCarron would not. With all of the questions around McCarron being either a pure game manager or a legitimate prospect handcuffed by an ultra conservative offense could be somewhat answered in a new environment.

For some reason I think there was a year they took 7 QBs, one of which was like Logan Thomas where it was really debatable as to what position he played in the NFL (maybe Scott Frost's senior year).

Looking at the rosters so far, I am really surprised Miami OT Seantrel Henderson has not yet been invited. Same with FSU seniors Christian Jones and Lamarcus Joyner.

It would need to take an injury in a bowl game for one of them to drop out. None of them are sure fire First Round picks (Derek Carr being the closest and he has the most to gain, especially if Bridgewater stays in school) and only can improve their stock by going. Not to mention if any were considering it, Geno Smith would be one helluva cautionary tale to remember.

Who's to say McCarron wasn't asked, but declined? Or would they have announced that as well?

Scott and Shane mentioned something on the last podcast about the 10 extra spots this year and the slight possibility of a 4th QB on either team so I guess that might happen as well.

If McCarron genuinely has been snubbed then that's a real stunner for me, given that Murray and Mettenburger would surely be going if that hadn't gotten hurt, then that puts McCarron outside the top 8 senior QBs on Phil Savage's board
