Yeah, I just couldn't stop wondering why the residents of elysium didn't just send down a single magic healing machine for all of humanity and be worshiped as gods by the earthlings and completely undermine the entire insurrection against them. And then when people got ready to rise up again...two magic healing machines to fix everyone's problems, since apparently it's the magic healing machines and not the better jobs/working-conditions/schools that they wanted from elysium.

Serious let down, especially after how much I loved District 9.

I really liked District 9 as well and have been hoping for a sequel.

I wanted to see more about the devolution of Earth into haves and have-nots, the destruction of animal species, the apparent uprising of the poor, the construction of Elysium and the evacuation of the rich, the increased dependence on technology, etc. Blomkamp told a mildly interesting and contextually unrealistic story while mostly ignoring the fascinating reality he created for said boring story. As with many political statements dressed up as movies he put the cart before the horse.

Ugh, it was two ships full of what looked like dozens and dozens of machines.

It recognized everyone on earth as a citizen of Elysium, so anyone can go up there for the better opportunity. But it didn't look like there were jobs.

I had much higher expectations for the movie, Matt let me down.

Sure but if the movie had jsut started with privileged white girl on her summer break from college starts a charity that sends one of these magic machines down to earth, boom everyone in this movie loses the motivations that the film gives them for each of their actions. Cause everyone we were supposed to care about in what we got just wanted to fix themselves or a loved one.

The attempt at commentary on health care was absolutely undermined by this magical all healing MRI being able to provide limitless free health care for anythign and everything right then and there with no drain of resources or human capital. And then the attempt to build the plot around that statement on healthcare falls apart if you actually apply the technology the film introduces.

The film just really failed, it's aight as just popcorn action, but not spectacular in that way and fails completely on a higher level. Which is a shame, because as stated, district 9 was phenomenal and this dude clearly has talent as a director.

Has anyone seen boondock saints 2? How does it compare to the first one? I watched the first boondock saints a few weeks back and I loved it. But I figured it is the kind of movie that will have a real ****** sequel. I looked at reviews and it seemed like I was right. But IDK what to put on my Christmas list I was thinking about having my sister get it for me.

I'm like the only person who enjoyed it, but I thought it was so completely terrible it was hilarious like a poor man's FDR: American Badass.

The only thing I remember from the movie is Clifton Collins, and that's because (Clifton Collins is awesome and) he is the most intentionally stupid over the top character, so yeah, I guess they have that going for it. Can't remember if I actually enjoyed that, though.

I saw it in the theater and it gave me more laughs than most movies nowadays. I may have laughed more than I just did in Anchorman 2.

Gravity was a solid movie. If you went into it expecting an action movie you'll obviously be disappointed but I thought it was pretty good.

Not amazing but I was entertained. That's all you ask for.

I didn't expect nonstop action but I certainly didn't expect 70mins of nonsense dialogue.
