I mean, Goose Island (no one drinks their "regular" beers, though - that's gross).

Does Three Floyds count as Chicago-based?

Their hops are ****. Their strength are the Bourbon County blends (inc. King Henry) and the sours they don't release outside of Chicago (e.g. Matilda).

Yeah, I'm not a fan of most of the fast foodier places in the city. That is besides portillos. You should just stick to Italian Beef.

Guys, Alesmith makes some good brews, but their Yulesmith (Winter version) mah goodness. Keep an eye out, I dunno how east they go though, San Diego is packed with so many good breweries....

My local shop must be awesome cause they do get the Bourbon County and their sours, I forget which of the BC blends I had and I also had a Matilda, which was pretty good.

I dunno how far 3 Floyds is from Chicago, but they're my favorite east of Colorado. Their Zombie Dust has been the best pale ale i've ever had, and which is weird cuz most pale ale's are alright.

I bought an 8-pack of Lakefront Brewing beers. I've had four of them (a red ale, extra special bitter ale, coffee stout, and pilsner). They were all extremely mediocre except for the coffee stout which was quite good. Hopefully the wheat, IPA, white ale, and amber lager are better but I doubt it.

You can get Juliet and Lolita, and I think I have heard people getting Matilda outside of Chicago (they were really promoting it and trying to figure out what the market was for it a couple years ago). I've never seen or heard of someone getting Gillian or Hajia outside of Chicago. I've had Gillian, but Hajia is one that I don't believe I've had.

My friends pick up crazy rare Bourbon County's when they take trips home to see family (or for work) in Nebraska. So if you live in a less beer-centric town, you can find some really great stuff because the liquor stores don't even know what it is half the time.

I've had every Bourbon County except Proprietor. The best was, without a doubt, the Bramble Rye. They're all great, though.

Had a Surly Smoke, St. Bernardus Abt 12, and a Tallgrass Velvet Rooster last night. The Smoke is absolutely delicious, the Abt is ok I guess, and the Rooster was not bad. The Abt tasted entirely of bananas.

Belgians are good for getting people into craft beers.

True statement, Belgians are what got me into craft beers. Don't really like Belgians any more though.

I'll drink most craft stuff but my go to would either be a stout or an IPA. Stouts moreso this time of year.

Yeha, not huge into Belgians either, but it was a nice change up. I would never buy a St. Bernardus again after that one, but it wasn't terrible.

They were bottles. Very very good but $16 was a little to high.

Since Anheuser Busch bought 'em, they've gotten released elsewhere. We just started getting the Bourbon County styles here in Tampa, and we've had Matilda, Sophie, Pepe Nero, Pere Jacques, etc for awhile.

Just had a newly released Terrapin Cinnamon Roll Wake 'n Bake. Holy cow.

Yep, but 312, Green Line, Honkers Ale, and other basic stuff are no longer brewed in Chicago. The fancier stuff like matilda, sophie, etc, and the Bourbon Counties are still in Chicago.

IDK, if i'm being a beer hipster or whatever, but there was a belief in my mind that the quality and taste changed on the basic stuff. Like 312 is way to sweet. I also might have changed my taste though.
