It's pretty telling that he got no more carries after that. They might very well make RCA happy and write the pick they gave up for him off as a sunk cost after the season.

That was a really soft fumble, too.

it was a bad fumble. it was like the fumble they'd show in a movie right after a line like "Oh you know Trent, we want him on the team but he just can't hold onto the ball!" Then he goes and sits down next to the kid who can't stop on the mighty ducks

I don't understand how Trent Richardson has failed in the NFL. I mean, I can clearly see he sucks but he had all the tools you look for in a running back.

Even if they got a 1st rounder for him, the Browns botched the 2012 draft so bad it's hard to put into words.

Saying Trent Richardson sucks is a huge understatement to how awful and useless he has been. The browns offense didnt miss a beat without him and neither did the colts yesterday. I wish we could just cut him already. Who cares what the browns did they still got the better end of the deal. I'd love to have that pick back.

People were saying the same thing about Donald Brown a couple of years ago. He just scored two touchdowns. Players improve. Considering most of Richardson's problems are in his head I'd imagine that once he gets out of those problems he can be a very dangerous back. Give him time.

Brown has played well as of late but he is in his 5th year. It is the cost of Trent Richardson when we already used a first on Brown now we are using another first on a guy who hasn't shown much of anything in 2 years. It was a very shortsighted move and it always will be.

There have been a lot more guys who have been bad early in their career and improved into good players than there have been guys who have been bad early in their career and bombed out of the league.

I'm not saying it was the greatest trade in the world. Richardson is a bad player. Giving up that much for him (or most running backs to tell you the truth) was a bad move. However there is a difference in saying that than saying he should be cut.

If he can sort out his mental issues with the game (which a full offseason, learning the playbook, learning that his blocking won't always be, and rarely will be, stellar etc... means he might just do that) then he will be a very dangerous back.

Not to speak for Alex but I don't think the prosperity of the Browns' offense post-Trent was his point. He was simply stating that the Browns absolutely blew it on the 2012 draft which is an indisputable fact.

Wha? That's joking, right?

I'd say there are twenty bad players who bomb out of the league for every one that improves into a good player. Maybe more.

I want the Colts to cut him. Part of the reason the Colts weren't successful in the playoffs is that we can't run the ball, granted we have a terrible run blocking OL. Things will get better when we get Donald Thomas back next year. However, we still need a new C and we could even do with another OG. I'd like to see
Castonzo - Gabe Jackson - Mack - Donald Thomas - Gosder Cherilus

Richardson wouldn't produce with that line. I'm ready for the Colts to upgrade the line and get back on Vick Ballard's shoulders and let him run the football. That was a key ingredient this playoffs that the Colts simply didn't have. The only running plays that worked were when we caught the D off guard.

Edit: And if we had enough picks, we don't, I would love to get a RB in the 4th round (like Monomach has mentioned) to be a change of pace back. A lot like BGE and Gio.

The key defining moment of Trent Richardson this week was his run to the outside where he got tackled by a defender who was on the ground.

I was watching that, and then..."Why did you stutter stop there Trent...wait you got tackled by someone on the ground????"

I buried my face in the table at BWW while a bunch of Pats fans cheered. I will never watch a Colts playoff game in public again unless I'm at the game. I hate drunk stupid fans.

And then Dierdorff spewing his nonsense about what a great play by Collins there.
Trent should've easily avoided that and gotten at least 3 yards on that run. I still don't know why he stutter stopped, because it looked like he could've continued to bounce it outside and pick up positive yards, or cut up the field and gain positive yards.
But he chose to stutter stop, then run right into a defender on the ground who tackled him.

Also, I hate watching games in public because a lot of fans are stupid. Yeah...

I think his motive was to juke the player that was closer to the sideline, but that player had the angle either way. If he runs as fast as he can to the sideline I think he would have gotten 4 yards and if he stiff armed and ran over the DB he could have gotten 6.

That was one small play that encapsulates the Trent Richardson problem.

edit: he averages like 3 jumps/pivots behind the LOS.
