I realize he isn't good. It was in the context of Pryor being terrible too.

Nope, not at all. Plus in Harbaughs system I think Pryor would be far superior.

Just like why Kaepernick is so successful in it, he's throwing to mostly wide open receivers and has the ability to make plays with his feet.

I don't know if there could be a better backup for Kaep and that system than Pryor without paying a lot.

Plus they gave up a 6th for Gabbert and are paying him $2m.

Not really seeing anywhere Gabbert has been better than Pryor. Unless we're thinking that Harbaugh can turn Gabbert into a good QB. In which, if we're saying that, then there's no reason to believe that he couldn't do the same thing with Pryor.

I really don't get the hate for Pryor. He had a nice start to 2013 before getting dismantled by the Chiefs. He certainly had his struggles, but he had a lot of really good moments, too. He got hurt, and they went with McGloin.

Tebow just needed to be in the right system njx, weve clearly proven thats the only feasible reason why he didnt succeed. No one gave him a fair chance!

Same here. I would by no means say he is a good QB, but he's a viable backup that could do some spot starts and win you games.

Guiness was at the Chiefs v. Raiders game, and the Raiders never stood a chance. The fans were just too loud, and you couldn't hear anything. This made many offensive lineman late off the snap and the Chiefs took advantage. Peyton Manning or Tom Brady would have stood little chance in that scenario

Russell Wilson is now the 3rd highest paid QB in Seattle, by the way.

I strongly disagree about Pryor. When I watched him he struggled. He isn't a good quarter back and can't go through reads at all. It's a major mistake to make him your immediate back up and if forced into 4 games starting he will struggle even with the Seahawks talented team.

That being said, I can really see the value for the Seahawks. He will have time to develop his strong tools and maybe in 2 years he will be ready to take over the back up job from Jackson. They have the time and are in a position to let him be the #3 And develop. He also provides a great look for the defense in practice to simulate Kaepernick. He also is a possible for a WR convert if they want. Also you get to steal him away from the 49ers who also wanted him is a little bonus. A lot of little things going for just a 7th.

Gonna be a lot of 10 yard losses from speed rushers on those, lol.

There aren't many QBs worse than Pryor, but Blame Gabbert is right at the top of the list.

Jaguars linebacker Russell Allen was originally reported as released, but he has actually retired due to a stroke that occured in Week 15 of last season. He was the other second-level LB next to Paul Posluszny in Jacksonville's 4-3 under defense.

Why don't the Lions sign Rob Bironas? Maybe they think he's too expensive for a kicker.

Sounds like James Carpenter's future in Seattle might not be guaranteed. Could see early interest in a T/G type. Joel Bitonio would fit the bill.

I was thinking that too when putting together my five round mock. Another possibility for ROT is Ju'Wuan James (Ten).

I doubt anyone will care but the Browns picked up the fifth year option on DT Phil Taylor.

Biggest move of the offseason for Seattle.

ETIII is a Seahawk until 2018.

Quote:
Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 9m
The #Seahawks four-year extension for safety Earl Thomas pays him $40 million base value with $27.725 million guaranteed, source says.
I have to say - I thought it would be a little more than that.

Quote:
Andrew Brandt ‏@adbrandt 5m
Thomas deal, per @RapSheet, adds $40 million ($10M average) and 4 years to existing $4.275M. $44.275M over 5 years. $8.85M average.

If he really got $27.725 million guaranteed, I think that's the new record for a safety.

Berry turned out to get 25.696 and Byrd 26.300, even though the first reports for both were higher. Am I missing anyone?

Yeah it's definitely the most ever guaranteed for a safety. But he's never missed a game and when you factor in Byrd getting just 1M less in guarantees...

It's way more team friendly than I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be 11-12M per...

Awesomeness.

There was a report a week or so ago that Sherman's extension is getting close and he might get 13+ mil per year.

That's a really fair deal for the Seahawks. 4 years isn't that long of a commitment. He gets that sure money and can still get another big contract at the end of this deal.

I'm guessing Sherman is gonna get a big deal

If I were the Hawks, I'm totally forgoing giving Wilson a huge extension and using that money to make sure I keep as much as that defense in tact as I can. Way more detrimental to their success. :P

I'm sure this won't happen, but its an interesting idea to look at.

Either way, great move to get Thomas signed. Very solid deal for both. Sherman at 13ish sounds pretty fair.

Wilson and Sherman will get their deals. It's the rest of the team that will eventually drift off, which honestly is probably fine, relatively speaking. Obviously the D is very special but that big ol wheel keeps spinning and no one on the team is more important than the Russ/Sherman/Earl trio.
