This is a good article explaining why Kevin Durant is a clown:

Good point.

What if they rework their offense and make Bosh more of a focal point? Right now Bosh has basically become a spot up shooter in their offense. He can be so much more than that if they are more creative with him.

I don't get why they don't pick and roll with him more.

I've said this on twitter, but Phil is treating Melo like a side chick.

I don't think he really wants him back. Either that or he's ambivalent to him. Which still isn't a ringing endorsement. And to be honest, I don't blame him for it at all. I've soured on Melo a lot. I think he's a player you can build around but by no means you should give up your future for. Melo should be your 2nd building block, not your 1st. Which is why I'm fine with keeping him or losing him. Doesn't bother me either way.

And to me it's pretty obvious that Phil plans on coaching the team through his puppet coach. He even told Melo before the whole Kerr fiasco that he was going to do that. So it didn't really matter who our coach was, as long as he was a triangle disciple the dude is basically a puppet that travels with the team.

I don't know if that will work (doubt it) but that's his plan.

Ira Winderman says without hesitation that LeBron's first choice if he were to leave would be the Clippers.

1) Can you just straight-up sign and trade him for Griffin?

2) What can they trade Griffin for to get enough cap space... a draft pick?

I think Golden State definitely has a shot at it. With Iggy, Barnes, Thompson, Lee, Bogut, they have the compensation to send to Miami. If Miami could get Iggy+Thompson they would have to take it. Or Bogut, Barnes, Draymond.

I see no reason Miami wouldn't take Griffin if LeBron James opts out and refuses to go back to Miami. I just wonder whether James would want to leave the East. He knows he can carry a team to the Finals in the East. If he gets to the Finals, he has a shot. He can't just carry a team like that in the West.

Why would Miami ever agree to sign and trade the best player in the world? The only way Lebron leaves is if he opts out and signs outright with another team for less than the max. I mean, if anyone can afford to take less money it's Lebron James, and i think he's smart enough to realize that. No chance Miami takes on $20m in salaries just to facilitate Lebron leaving them.

Who's making the trade? Doc Rivers? The NBA? Silver is not gonna get involved in trading away one of it's marquee faces (Griffin), even if it would be for Lebron. Besides, if Lebron wants to go there they could find other ways to do it that wouldn't sacrifice a top 10 NBA player.

I am not sure LeBron would want to get involved with the Sterling/Clippers mess. Although, he's been super tight with Chris Paul throughout his career. The Clippers with LeBron would be ridiculous.

I wouldn't rule out anything. Unless Wade and Bosh agreen to take pay-cuts, if I'm LeBron i'd be frightened that this year's Heat team started to look a lot like the 2010 Cavs. Their bench and PG spot imploded and at this point I think Dwyane Wade is done. Watching him in these finals was a tragedy. He couldn't get past Boris Diaw for ****'s sake. RIP Flash.

Again, Winderman (who covers the Heat closer than anyone), immediately responded Clippers to the question of "gun to your head, if LeBron doesn't return, what team does he want to play for?" He mentioned the Sterling thing as part of the reason he'd WANT to go there, I guess as some sort of retribution.

It's clear to me that at this very moment LeBron does not want to be on that team. There's plenty of time to change his mind either with adding players on the Heat or just time to decompress and realize that what the Spurs did was absurd. But I think the long hesitation to the question last night and obvious frustration are tell tale signs that he's at the very least mulling if it's possible for him to leave. And when Winderman was asked the question I was completely expecting him to give a stupid answer but he was very quick to answer it clearly with the Clips.

And for all the post-Finals Heat-related narratives, the Spo/LeBron dynamic is rarely discussed either way. I personally think there's tension there. For what it's worth, Winderman also mentioned that LeBron loves Doc Rivers as one of the reasons he wants to go there. He also said he's better friends with CP3 than Wade.

LeBetard said that if Wade and Bosh both opt in, that's a bad sign bc that likely means LeBron is opting out and leaving.

If all 3 opt out though...watch out. That means something is brewing. My gut still tells me Melo is going to Miami and they're going to form a big 4.

Wade and Bosh are both going to opt in. I don't see how they don't.

I agree that Melo going to the Heat is really something both parties want, but I don't see how it's possible. The only options are to have everyone take a pay cut (unlikely), or Wade or Bosh to walk (unlikely).

Wade and Bosh are both going to opt in. I don't see how they don't.

I agree that Melo going to the Heat is really something both parties want, but I don't see how it's possible. The only options are to have everyone take a pay cut (unlikely), or Wade or Bosh to walk (unlikely).
LeBron is basically just gonna go up to Wade and Bosh and say I'm opting out. If you 2 don't also opt out and give us cap space to be flexible then I'm leaving.

What are Wade and Bosh gonna do? Then the ball is in their court. If they want their money LeBron can leave without really dissing them, and if they take the paycut so Melo can come through then they all get to be super best friends again.

I don't think either Wade or Bosh would take less, and if they opt out, they'd assuredly get less. So in your scenario, I think Wade and Bosh would have their egos say nope we are taking the money. And if you're right and LeBron actually walks, I'm not quite sure who has the cap room and appeal to take him.

I haven't really found any good articles about all the possibilities as it relates to cap space. NBA player movement is finite in the sense that only a handful of scenarios are realistic and fit cap-wise, so I'm wondering what the 7 or 8 possibilities are for the Heat.

IF EVERYONE OPTS IN...

Can they afford a FA like Lowry?

What ring-chasing vets could they add to be Mike Millerish for them?

CAN THEY ALL OPT OUT AND TAKE LESS TO MAKE MELO FIT? HOW MUCH LESS?

Like where is this headed? Because I see a 0% chance of them all opting in and returning a similar roster.

I can see Melo and LeBron huddling up and deciding to play together somewhere too.

Could be the Clippers.

I don't think that's possible cap-wise. The Clippers would have to get rid of Blake Griffin's contract. How could they do that without taking on a similar salary.

If they wanted to play together in LA it would have to be the Lakers.

Clippers make sense because they are a better team right now, but that is way too much maneuvering to make work...lots of sign and trades.

The Lakers actually has the cap room to sign both if they were ok playing with Kobe for 2 years.

It is impossible cap wise for the Clippers to get both. They'd have to get rid of Blake/Deandre and totally zap their bench.
