Yeah, it'll be Cooper & Smith. They ******* love Cooper. Cooper wasn't that bad last year. He wasn't great, but they never gave him safety help (Berry was constantly played in the box) and never made any defensive adjustments when they started playing good teams. They just left him out there to dry.

They really didn't save much money by cutting Flowers. Flowers was still their best CB by a wide margin, but he is always hurt. I think the thing that pisses me off on this one is they're going to use the money to extend Alex Smith, whom they don't need to pay yet. It makes no ******* sense to extend Alex Smith now. They're just screwing themselves over. It's painful to watch.

They've been managing the cap horribly all-around. The #1 thing they needed to do this off-season was get Eric Berry's extension done to save a boat load of money this year and we haven't heard a peep about that. Extending Berry lets them extend Houston.

Flowers being oft-injured and a schematic misfit makes the move totally sensible by Kansas City.

We're on the same page here. I don't get why people are so distraught about this.

No idea. If he does well in camp he'll earn a role. The team is a full-on meritocracy.

They have a lot of bodies along the DL even after losing Clemons, Bryant, and McDonald.

LDE 72 Bennett, Michael U/TB 98 Scruggs, Greg 12/7
LDT 99 McDaniel, Tony U/Mia 97 Hill, Jordan 13/3 90 Williams, Jesse 13/5 70 Brooks, Michael SF13 66 Pulu, Andru CF14
RDT 92 Mebane, Brandon 07/3 00 WILLIAMS, KEVIN U/Min 66 Cherrington, Dewayne SF13 94 Smith, D'Anthony SF13 67 Staten, Jimmy 14/5
RDE 56 Avril, Cliff U/Det 95 Mayowa, Benson CF13 91 Marsh, Cassius 14/4 43 Jeffcoat, Jackson CF14

Schofield is listed as a LB, but he'll be a LEO/pass rusher.

With four proven high-quality LBs (Wagner, Wright, Irvin, SB MVP Smith) and rookie Kevin Pierre-Louis, and 2nd-year speedster Korey Toomer who apparently looks great right now, and of course that secondary, the only way the Seahawks D isn't top-5 again next year is with a bunch of big injuries.

Nickel CB is probably downgraded. Other than that, it's pretty much the same D with many young talents a year older/wiser/familiar with the scheme.

Scary.

I love KPL and I hate that we didn't take him. We need to steal a couple of linebackers from you guys once they come off the books.

Isn't LDE in their defense sort of like a 3-4 end? Red Bryant used to be there, and he's big. Bennett is too small. He's the backup "LEO" DE and NDT. The starting defense in Seattle should look something like this:

ELB: Bruce Irvin
DE4: Jesse Williams
NT: Brandon Mebane
DT: Tony McDaniel (N: Kevin Williams, Michael Bennett)
DE: Cliff Avril

ILB: Bobby Wagner
WLB: K.J. Wright

CB: Richard Sherman
SS: Kam Chancellor
FS: Earl Thomas
CB: Byron Maxwell (N: Jeremy Lane)

Of course, those first three DBs can be filed under "D" for "duh!" (as well as Wagner).

The Vikings offense under OC Norv Turner is expected to use 2-TE (ace) personnel as the favorite first down set (like what Norv did in Cleveland). That means Jerome Felton, even though he's a great fullback and helped Adrian Peterson a lot, will be limited to short yardage and change-ups in looks.

The only team who uses the fullback a lot that doesn't already have a really good one is Jacksonville. Will Ta'ufo'ou is the incumbant starter, and former Falcon Bradie Ewing can't stay healthy. I think the Jaguars should try to trade for Felton.

I expect a breakout year for Kyle Rudolph. He's always been a great TE but he's never had a qb to really get him the ball. He has a little Gronk in him.

I think Teddy plus this new offense under Norv will be very favorable for him.

The Ravens addressed their nickel and dime defensive needs, signing former Giants CB Aaron Ross and former Falcons CB Dominique Franks.

Obvious and good signing for both parties. Curious to see the specifics of the contract.

We didn't have a lot of cap room so I'm interested as well.
Hopefully we cut clary

ELB: Bruce Irvin
DE4: Jesse Williams
NT: Brandon Mebane
DT: Tony McDaniel (N: Kevin Williams, Michael Bennett)
DE: Cliff Avril

ILB: Bobby Wagner
WLB: K.J. Wright

CB: Richard Sherman
SS: Kam Chancellor
FS: Earl Thomas
CB: Byron Maxwell (N: Jeremy Lane)

Of course, those first three DBs can be filed under "D" for "duh!" (as well as Wagner).

In the base defense yes LDE is a 5tech, but Bryant played under 50% of snaps, Bennett played the most snaps of any Seahawks DL with like 56%, he played all along the line in different sets. Avril is supposed to take Clem's role at LEO, McDaniel is supposed to move to 5tech in place of Red. But really the Seahawks move everyone around so much and rotate everyone so much that you can barely consider anyone a "starter" at any one spot.

Scary.
Irvin is a proven high quality LB?

Not even close. He had a fine rookie year with 8 sacks as a situational rusher, but was suspended and only had 2 sacks all year. He barely even played in the super bowl.

Does he have talent? Yes. But he is not a high quality player yet and is far from proven.

I agree he is not a proven anything. But he did have a good year as a linebacker. Saying he only had 2 sacks is a pointless argument since he wasn't rushing the passer much as a linebacker like he was his rookie year as a situational pass rusher.
