I think Jeff Green is going to be the pick for the Celtics. Doc Rivers son played with him and he was on the radio talking about him a lot this morning. He said they'll do their due diligence, but he sounds like a guy they are keying in on...

It sucks how the NBA draft isn't anything like the NFL draft, the NBA draft, if you don't pick top 10 your not going to land a superstar 95 % of the time.

BTW 76ers are going to trade into top 10, quote me on that.

I do not want us to go for another PG/SG tweener. We need to get a solid SF/PF/C to go along with Craig Smith. I am not counting on Garnett being hear in the near future.

1. You have no proof that they "tanked on purpose."
2. 310 man games lost to injury.
3. Don't you think Paul Pierce would have made a difference in the 30+ games he missed?
4. Before Pierce went down, they were on a five game win streak and had just won three in a row on the road, then he got hurt and they **** the bed.

I am so tired of hearing about the Celtics tanking. They tanked as much as every other team in the lottery. Period. Giving me Paul Pierce, Wally Sczerbiak and Al Jefferson for at least 75 games and that team would have won more games. That's over 50 PPG that was missing at various points in the season, sometimes all three in the same night. Tell me another NBA team that can afford to lose players like that for extended periods of time?

Hmmm.. come again?

"I probably (would have played), but since we were in the hunt for a high draft pick, of course things are different," Gomes said. "I understand that. Hopefully things get better. Now that we clinched at least having the second-most balls in the lottery, the last three games we'll see what happens. We'll see if we can go out and finish some games."

I don't need to say much as Flyboy already posted it. Yes, injuries played a part but to say they didn't tank at all is complete homerism.

Oh surprise, surprise, Jeff Green is staying in the draft, if anything I thought that Green would stay and Hibbert would leave. But with Hibbert coming back even with Jeffy Hoyas are the favorites to win it all.

Georgetown has two All-American guards coming in too with a team that has all big contributors except for Green back

Yup All americans PG Chris Wright, and SG Austin Freeman. Plus Dajuan Summers is a likely top 10 pick and a carbon clone of Caron Butler, Jonothan Wallace is one of the most lethal 3 point shooters in America and probably the top floor general in college basketball. His pro potential is great but he is an elite college PG. All American Vernon Macklin should have an increased role and has serious lottery potential, while Pat Ewing JR. is a standout defender with some offensive skills to work with. Tyler Crawford is a hard nozed defender. Jessie Sapp is an explosive scorer and Jeremiah Rivers shows potential, add that to Hibbert who should absolutely dominate next year and Georgetown is looking great. They are already one of the top 5 best defensive teams in the country and add an Austin Freeman and Summers shooting more and they could win it all. Jeff was the best player and IMO a top 5 pick but they are looking great.

Soooo.... Looking into the future, which teams in the NBA will be able to match up versus the Twin Tower combo of Aldridge and Oden???

Right, because RYAN GOMES is going to win us ball games. Give me a break. Do you really think having him in the lineup would have made a difference? He's a great ballplayer, and that's exactly why they didn't risk getting him hurt. Why should we throw him out there at less then 100% when there's nothing to play for? You act like this never happens in sports. How many baseball teams have shut pitchers down when they were no longer in contention over the years? The Red Sox did it with Papelbon last year.

So maybe Al Jefferson's appendix didn't really burst and he never had foot surgery. Maybe Paul Pierce never really hurt his foot. Maybe Tony Allen never blew out his ACL. Maybe the fact that Delonte West was hurt all preseason and didn't play a single game didn't contribute at all to his start of the season. Maybe Theo Ratliff played more than two games. I mean, all these injuries are obviously fake right?

You know what the problem with the Celtics was? Here, I'll make it simple:

Rajon Rondo 21
Gerald Green 21
Al Jefferson 22
Delonte West 23
Ryan Gomes 24
Kendrick Perkins 22
Leon Powe 23
Allen Ray 22
Sebastian Telfair 21

That was the core of our team down the stretch. So tell me where we tanked again? Tony Allen is 25. Paul Pierce is 29. All the guys over 30 (Szczerbiak, Scalabrine, Ratliff and Olowakandi) missed more than half of the season last year, or in the case of Scalabrine, sucked. Don't you think that the fact that the average age of the Celtics last year was 25 and a fourth just might have contributed? That average is even less when you factor in the guys who never saw the court.

One throw away line from a guy who is lucky to be in the rotation for most teams means nothing. Go on living your fairy tail and crying homerism. The Celtics are a young team, and guess what, they'll probably be in contention for the top pick next year too...

You can throw out ages and injuries all you want. And, yes, that was a huge contributor to the downfall of the Celtics this year but to pretend like the C's didn't want a top pick in the draft is homerism at its finest. And, take a took at the quote again -- me posting that wasn't to state that Gomes would have made a huge impact on the greater scheme of things. Read what he said again closely.

Quote:
"I probably (would have played), but since we were in the hunt for a high draft pick, of course things are different,"

Gomes knew good well what management was doing and he stated such. He understood that, hey, we're not in the hunt so.. let's hope for the best with the draft. If Gomes, a PLAYER on the Celtics himself can realize that, then I don't see why a fan can't either.

The game should start to slow down for Redick next year. He didn't have a training camp and was injured to start the season. There's still some hope for him. He shouldn't be a starter, but he can have a significant role.

I dont think he fits the Magic system, he would be better off in a more fast paced team such as the raps or the suns, I know that the Magic may be trying to make a run and gun like team, but if they still think Jameer is the PG of the future, then it just wont happen.

There are a lot of things wrong with the Magic. First they need to fire Brian Hill. I have no idea why he's still there.

And, take a took at the quote again -- me posting that wasn't to state that Gomes would have made a huge impact on the greater scheme of things. Read what he said again closely.

Gomes knew good well what management was doing and he stated such. He understood that, hey, we're not in the hunt so.. let's hope for the best with the draft. If Gomes, a PLAYER on the Celtics himself can realize that, then I don't see why a fan can't either.
Who didn't want the #1 pick last night or during the season? Are you telling me Memphis didn't tank it? Are you telling me Milwaukee didn't tank it? We tanked it as much as anyone else in the lottery.

The age makes all the difference in the world... because you know... that's why we weren't good. Injuries make all the difference in the world... because you know... that's why we weren't as good as we could have been.

Homerism is a ******** word. It's the kind of word that gets thrown around whenever someone can't debunk facts that are slapping them in the face. Ryan Gomes spoke for himself. He wanted to play. He's a competitor. But show me some games down the stretch that are games we should have won.

There is absolutely zero benefit to having the worst, second worst or eight worst record in the league. If there was, all three teams with the three worst records in the league wouldn't be picking 4-5-6. If there was, the Celtics wouldn't have picked 3 and 6 the year that they statistically had the best odds of getting 1 and 3 and thus missed out on Tim Duncan. Danny Ainge preached that all year. The Celtics are a very young, exciting team that can score points but can't play defense. That is why they were so bad.

So if you want to start talking about the Celtics tanking, start coming specific. Tell me some plays they made that caused them to purposely lose games. Ryan Gomes wouldn't have put us over the top in those games.

This was a great year for the Celtics, regardless of their record. Al Jefferson took that next step and really elevated his game. Rajon Rondo was great and really picked it up down the stretch. Ryan Gomes continued to develop. Gerald Green showed us that he could be a legit scoring threat. But those guys wouldn't have had as many chances to play if Pierce, Szczerbiak, Ratliff and Allen were healthier all year. So you take the good with the bad. But again, to say the Celtics flat out tanked it is uneducated, disingenuous and flat out irresponsible, and that's all there is to it. You're wrong.

Yeah Sermon is right with all that firepower the Hoyas have to be barring injuries the odds on favorites to win it all. Now that is contingent on the two freshman performing up to their clippings which is always an iffy proposition. Freeman should be as good as advertised but Wright looked shakey in the all star games i watched . Both probably would be best served coming off of the bench at least through mid-season.

I really hate the NBA now, the lottery always seems to **** Boston over. Whatever, maybe Oden and Durant will both bust. Probably not though.

They already have Randy Foye. Who showed glimpses of beconing very good. A 3 like Brewer or Jeff Green will really help IMO.

Please. No one said other teams didn't tank. That's moot. Sure other teams tanked as well, but you seemed to act like the Celtics wouldn't be capable of something so hideous when that wasn't the case.
