Default Miami's treatment of Culpepper

I think the way they are handling this situation is pathetic. Not allowing him to workout at the facility or partake in team drills is a slap in the face. When the Chiefs were in a similar situation, they still allowed Trent Green to participate in practice, even though they knew he would be gone. I don't know where management's head is at, first they draft Ted Ginn, and basically say we'd rather have Trent Green than Brady Quinn. Then they disrepsect a veteran QB they just brought in a year ago.

Cam Cameron needs to take a page out of Herm's playbook and allow this guy to be around the team, because I believe this thing is going to drag on for awhile. Other teams know that he will definitely not be playing in a Miami jersey this year, so I doubt they will agree to give what Miami wants because they know he will be released anyway. So if things stay like they are Culpepper will be suspended in NFL limbo, through no fault of his own. I think this is a really classless move by Cam Cameron and Miami management.

He is working out with the team because he's still under contract. He's just staying on the sidelines for most of it doing conditioning drills. Thats what I got from the report on ESPN anyways.

this make sense for miami, because if he gets hurt on their property, he is binded to them and they have to pay him the big money of his contract

but
Miami has become one of the worst run teams in the NFL recently.... it started with the Saben ordeal and went into the offseason with FA and the draft... they will have a tough future for them...

Yep. Indeed, he was.

Makes sense for Miami, but it's still a jerk move. As an organization, you would like to be known that you can at least treat players with some dignity. The most I see them getting out of this is a 7th round pick. Why not just cut him, instead he's getting the NFLPA involved.

I want Daunte to go somwhere that will let him sit for a year and heal his knee up. Hopefully he'll go to Jacksonville sit out the year on IR and after another dismal offensive year where they won't turn away from Byron Leftwich, they'll be ready for Daunte to takeover.

That's a good line of thinking. Same scenario could apply to Chicago.

Thats true, Chi-town would be a good fit as well as Baltimore too.

yep I think he's goin to Jacksonville, apparently he's already contacted them. I could be wrong, but I still believe this thing is gonna be a long drawn-out affair, a la Trent Green. I don't think Miami has the ability to do the right thing, which is to release him. They'll scratch and claw to secure that 7th round pick. I hope Im wrong though.

I dont think he is being treated right but I dont think this situation is quite like the way McNair, Leftwich and now Trent Green have been treated. I say this because they all had the same coach in their last year for the team as the year they left and they had all had considerable success in their team with their teams. Culpepper was a guy Saban had brought in and he had a downright awful season and there were questions if he could ever be the same player again and then a new coaching staff comes in and really Cam Cameron and his crew dont like Culpepper as the QB of their offense and they wish he had never brought in and aren't showing him a lot of respect because he hasn't done anything positive in Miami. I still dont think theyre treating him right, but its a different situation than something like Tennessee giving McNair the cold shoulder, considering everything he did for that team and for that city and how he really laid it on the line and got the team to the superbowl, won the MVP and played through injuries and was just a real inspiration/hero in his time there.

Who cares ?

He's a has been. He had 3 good seasons and all but 1 were the direct result of playing with Randy Moss in Moss' prime.
The guy has been nothing but a jerk, a clown and now is an outcast.
hahahaha..I'd die laughing if no team ever picked him up and he went to the CFL to play with the other losers (Ricky Williams ...can you see this ?)

A little harsh there Severe Punishment. Culpeppers success cant just be called a product of Moss, he had some years where he really was a great QB. Ive always felt that fumbles are his achilles heal, and this has a lot to do with his small hands and his decision making skills are sometimes questionable, but this is guy who has done great things and he has just gone through injury problems the last 2 years. To call him a has-been is ridiculous, you dont write off a player as talented and succesful as Culpepper just because of two injury riddled seasons, especially considering he is still plenty young. And in general why all the hating? Did Culpepper do something to offend your family? Im not seeing how you are gonna call the guy a jerk, a clown and an outcast when he is just a player who has gone through a couple tough years, mostly due to injuries and has continued to work hard to try to make it through it.

People seem to forget that Culpepper was playing like absolute, stinking trash BEFORE his injury mercifully removed him for the season. He did indeed have some statistically impressive seasons (if you neglect the large number of fumbles he loses) years ago with Moss and even when Moss was injured. However, the year Moss actually left, Pep turned into (for several games) the most putrid starting QB in the NFL. Everyone seems to think he should just be anointed a starter once he finally heals. In my mind, he has to prove he's not a little girl anymore and that 2005 was just a fluke.
