|
Well then I guess he doesn't know his QB's then. He's pretty dumb if he's gonna take a QB who had one good year over two QB's who have good years just about every year.
|
I think Kitna will do really well in DET with Roy Williams, Mike Williams, Kevin Jones and Marcus Pollard. They should have a pretty good offense, the best in their division. He could easily put up the same numbers that Daunte does and if you knew anything about QB's you would know Kitna has had more than one good year.
|
Listen here dude. 2003 was Kitna's only good year. I know he had a 79 QB rating in 2002, but he still made alot of mistakes that year. 2003 season was his only year he actually helped his team out by winning games. So therefore he only had one good year.

You know what the greatest part about this entire thread is?
The fact that noone that has voted Farve has given any good reason as to why he would do better the Culpepper. Go look at all the responses. They all just say Farve and nothing else.

Why he could do better than Culpepper: Favre has started 223 games without injury. Culpepper coming off major knee surgery. If Kimo Von Ohlwhatever goes after his knee and gives him the same late hit love he gave Palmer, then Favre will have the better year between the two. I've read a number of reports saying that Culp's 80-90% back, but if that 10% weakened knee takes a hit, then it is season over again.
Why Favre should have a better year than he had last year: New coach going back to the WCO he ran ten years ago amidst 3 MVP years, better interior line than last year (still not great, but will be better), RBs coming back from injury and if hey're hurt the back-ups Gado an Herron will have been through TC and able to have reps with him and the line, better WR situation than last year with draftees and FAs here at beginning of amp rather than UDFA's or FA's coming in mid-season and not having any timing down, better defense will give more opportunities and lessen pressure of him having to do it all himself.
The Packers might not win any more games than last year, but at least Favre'll have a full training camp with the current players and not have to be practicing with a different set of WRs, TEs, and RBs every single week like he had to do last year. Try to establish a timing passing game, or rhythm with your skill players when they change every single week, starting week 1.
I did vote for Culpepper to have the better year of the two, as I don't think you can predict injury or re-injury. If Chambers, McMichael, and Brown all go hurt like Favre's options went hurt last year, I don't think Daunte will have too good a year, neh?

Favre has nobody to throw to still except for Driver. That's the biggest problem with the Packers this year. They have nobody proven to be a #2 or #3 receiver. Favre is going to struggle unless the running game really emerges.

Ahman Green had one bad year before that he had 5 1000 yards season
dont forget in 2003 he had over 2000 yards+ and 20tds
and was 117 rushings yards from 2000 yards

Look over his career. He has done well even when the GB receiving corp has not been sterling. the difference this year will be is that he has had the minicamps, OTAs and TC to get his timing down with his WRs and to know if and where they can get the ball. Three of the top four WRs went down last year due to injury and were replaced by the 5'7" Chatman and a host of street free agents that he'd never practiced with.
Rookies Greg Jennings and Cory Rodgers, FA's Rod Gardner and Marc Boerigter (two years back from severe injury) and Ruvell Martin, with Robert Ferguson now two years back from the Darius clothesline hit, are an ugly group of WRs to back up Donald Driver, but Favre will at least know their names when he goes into the huddle. Favre could still struggle, but with the WCO going back to what h ran in 1996 amidst multiple MVP honors, I expect him to do a lot better than last year's chuck-it-up INT fest.
Favre's WRs in
1995: Mark Ingram, Robert Brooks, Antonio Freeman, Terry Mickens, Anthony Morgan and Charles Jordan. I don't remember reading too much about how this group scared anyone. Probably why he won MVP as he posted the numbers and wins he did with these guys as his WRs.
1996: Robert Brooks, Antonio Freeman, Don Beebe, Desond Howard, Derrick Mayes, Terry Mickens. Due to injury, the Packers picked up Andre Rison, which was a great acquisition. This group more seasoned, Beebe a good 3rd WR and Desmond Howard a fabulous return man.
1997: Robert Brooks, Antonio Freeman, Don Beebe, Derrick Mayes, Bill Schroeder, and KR Roell Preston. Top three remained good. bottom three not so good.
Donald Driver > Freeman and = Brooks. The number two guy will hopefully be a healthy Robery Ferguson or a productive Rod Gardner. Jennings better than most of those guys, with favre saying he has the ability to find holes in zones like Freeman did, but Jennings has far better hands, though he is a rookie. Boerigter is a big target that had speed prior to his injuries, so we'll see if he has anything to offer, but he's better than Terry Mickens and Derrick Mayes and Bill Schroeder.
Favre's top three likely Donald Driver, Robert Ferguson and Rod Gardner. That's as good as in 1995.

I don't care what excuses people make. Teams have dealt with injuries in the past. Hell, expansion team offenses are FAR worse than the offense the Packers fielded that year. The fact of the matter is that Favre had one of the worst seasons at quarterback in HISTORY. 29 interceptions. Take a step back and try to take that number in. 29.
But it wasn't his fault. It's okay that he repeatedly forces the ball into coverage. There were injuries to the offense. He was just trying to make something happen.
Throwing the ball to the other team 29 times is a great way of trying to make something happen.

Culpepper has a stellar supporting cast. With a Pro-Bowl Receiver, a good and underrated O-Line and a Stud in the backfield.
Favre on the other hand...
Ouch.

Ahman was terrible, the past 1 and 1/2 seasons. It's been since November 14th of 2004, when he had his last 100 yard game. That's 12 straight games without a 100 yard performance. Not included in that timespan were 12 games he missed due to injury.
