What do you think will havehappened to the NFL's current starting QBs in three years?
What do you think will have happened to the NFL's quarterbacks after three more seasons? I sorted them into three categories - still starting (for quality starters with at least three years left), possibly starting (for borderline quarterbacks, severe injury risks, age issues, small sample sizes), and not starting (either due to talent or age.) Feel free to post your own lists, here's mine:
Still starting:
tom brady
carson palmer
derek anderson
ben roethlisberger
peyton manning
david garrard
vince young
jay cutler
tony romo
drew brees
matt hasselbeck
Possibly starting:
trent edwards
john beck
kellen clemens
matt schaub
brodie croyle
philip rivers
eli manning
donovan mcnabb
jason campbell
jake delhomme
matt leinart
marc bulger
Not starting:
kyle boller
daunte culpepper
rex grossman
jon kitna
brett favre
tarvaris jackson
byron leftwich
jeff garcia

Brett Favre's going to play forever. Didn't you get the memo?

And this is why Packer nation will crumble when he retires. Yes he's a great QB, and even though it's hard to admit he's not gonna play forever. And when he retires, well um yea, good luck with Rodgers.

What's wrong with Rodgers? All the comments on him this year have been positive.

Postive from what? Practice time? Aaron has yet to get a bulk of the handoffs for 4 years. So what happens if Brett returns again next year, Aaron rides the bench some more. Then his contract runs out, and you'll have to decide whether or not to resign a guy you don't have any idea of where Rodgers is right now or if he's the answer.

I feel that these are not possibly starting but instead definitely starting if not at least on their team somewhere else. I think its utterly silly to think that Eli wont be playing as a Giant in 3 years btw.. How are these guys possibly starting and jay cutler and vince young are definitely starting? whats different? its not really youth, eli jason and matt are all young. Its not production cause donovan and marc have excelled tremendously. Hell its not even winning cause look at cutler hes not exactly a winner. Its not recent play either cause Vince young has what 4 passing tds?

They obviously have some idea where he's at based on practice, preseason, etc.
Could he turn out to be a bust? Sure. Could he turn out to be great? Sure.
There's no reason to write off a guy that has looked good in practice and the limited action he's seen in the preseason. He's got better every year and has the tools of an NFL quarterback. Not really much else you can expect from a 24 year old quarterback playing behind Favre.

Jonathan Quinn was the shiznit in practice and in preseason, and look what happened. No one knows what you have in Rodgers because he's yet to prove anything.
Hell Orton has looked great in practice so far this season. I'm not saying Rodgers won't be a good QB, he very well could. But to say "they know what they have in Aaron" is BS because they really don't. Not until he gets a chance to start full time.

When did I say they know what they have in Aaron? You said "well good luck with Rodgers once Favre retires", implying that Rodgers will be a bust...

He won't be as good as Favre is probably what he was getting at.

I don't think anybody expects ANY quarterback to become an all-time great like Favre...

:D Haha I know.
I think Rodgers will be a solid QB but nothing special. That's if he ever gets a chance to play in Green Bay.

I think he'll end up resigning even if Favre plays next year. He has to realize that Favre won't last much past 40 and he'll get his chance sooner rather than later. He's basically guaranteed the starting spot in Green Bay also and he already knows the system.

I think some of you are forgetting that these are predictions, not the collective opinion. I'd much rather read that than the conservative view.

You'd like to think so. Rodgers will be solid IMO, but nothing special. Again that's my view. I don't like Tedford QB's very much (Boller, Longshore, Rodgers, etc...). Maybe he'll break the "curse" but I don't see it.

The nice thing about Rodgers is that he'll have at least 3 season in Green Bay, away from the Tedford system before he's forced to play. I can't imagine he's kept any bad habits from Tedford after all this time.
All I know is that he has the tools and has done everything that is asked of him. He gets better every season, practices hard, and has done well enough to draw praise from a variety of sources.

Oh I understand that, idk I just never really like Aaron coming out. Maybe I'll be wrong though (I hope not :D).
I just love fighting back at Packer fans who think Favre will play forever, that he's "god," etc...And in all honestly, I don't know if some of my friends who are Packer fans will be able to cope with him not playing. And I'm being serious. The day that #4 doesn't run out of the tunnel onto the field as a starting QB at Lambeau is going to be an interesting sight to see...

Well it is hard to imagine the Packers without Favre. He's been there a decade and a half. In that time, he's only had one losing season. That's pretty damn impressive and one of the many reasons Packers fans love the guy.

And it's why I respect him so damn much. I hate Favre (because he's a Packer) but he's a joy to watch and I have the utmost respect for this guy and what he's done. And it's also why I can't wait to see him leave (same with Cavs fans and Michael Jordan).

I think Jason Campbell will be a very high level QB for the next 10 years. He has yet to really learn the game yet and refine his throws, but he has the kind of arm you can't teach.

let's be real the thread says 3 years anbd all those guys bolded are still young. Whether you think they're gonna bust is another issue but I doubt those franchises are going to give up on their young quarterback so early, especially the cardinals.
