Vikings Offseason
starting with the offense, i'd like us to stick with jackson as our starting quarterback. he hasn't done anything to win himself the job but i'm really not excited about the alternatives. we'd most likely have to give up too much to trade for anderson or mcnabb, the only two players who would be a clear upgrade over jackson. in the end we'll stick with him for better or for worse.
to help jacksons development i would DIE for us to sign jordan gross this offseason. ryan cook has been the clear cut weak link of the offensive line. speed rushers constantly abuse him and his run blocking leaves a lot to be desired. assuming the rt position is addressed, i'm looking for a wide receiver in the first round of the draft. i'm not estatic about this, but desean jackson may be our best option. a speed type player like desean would be a good complement to rice.
defensively there are no major needs. a safety would be nice but is not probable given our draft position. if we were to go defense with our first round pick, the only scenario i could see is a defensive end but no one stands out here, especially considering the depth we have with james, edwards, robison, udeze, ect.
i'm really not confident in brad childress being an effective head coach. to his credit, very few people expected us to do as well as we did this season. if the players respect him for the most part and want him around, then keep him. at this point i'd say there is little chance that he is fired.
