Browns re-sign Anderson.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3270420
Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson wasn't a free agent for long.
Anderson has agreed to a multiyear contract to stay with the Browns, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract had not been completed.
General manager Phil Savage believed if Anderson had gotten an offer from another team, the Browns probably wouldn't have been able to keep him.
The team had been negotiating a three-year, $20 million deal for Anderson.
The 24-year-old signed with Cleveland just hours after he became a restricted free agent.

I like the 3-year contract because it does show that they can still use Quinn for the future. Good deal by the Browns.

What I read is that he rejected the contract and is now a RFA.

Well than ESPN should take it off of its front-page. That is pretty ridiculous to have two contradictory articles there.

He rejected their proposal right before Free Agency, but accepted the improved offer.

Multiyear contract is all it says, but it's probably the 3 year deal sweetened by a couple million is all. My guess is that Anderson's agent wasn't getting the offers he'd hoped for, and figured it would be best to take Savage's offer and get 10-12 million dollars guaranteed.

Three years with $14 million guaranteed according to Adam Schefter.

I think it's a pretty good deal for the Browns actually. Quinn can learn for at least another season, and if Anderson continues to play decent, or even improves, they might be able to trade him at some point down the road for more than the picks they would have received now. Of course, if he goes in the tank, it sure won't end up looking very smart.

After they acquired Corey Williams and where without picks in the 1st and 2nd round I really thought they were going to trade Anderson to recoup some day 1 picks.

Sometimes the best explanations are the easiest ones. There just hadn't been any buzz that sounded real on Derek. The whole "Miami deals with Dallas, swaps a 1st/3rd for Derek" sounded off. Atlanta pursuing Derek? Didn't make sense. Minnesota? Didn't seem likely.
This move makes sense from a personnel standpoint. The picks would've been nice, but from a personnel standpoint, this was the right move. There's no certainty on Brady right now, and Derek buys them another year, or two. This isn't that big a deal that you would be troubled with having that big a salary on the bench.
