Jermaine O'neal for Hibbert was fantastic to see. Happy to see the raptors fail once again.

STRIP i'm disappointed that you haven't responded to my post asking about the top draft prospects for this year. I figured you'd hook me up with some early knowledge.

Hah I didnt' see that. I'll write up my feelings on the prospects later but just quick I have Perry Jones and his upside #1 on my big board over Harrison Barnes, I'm also super high on Brandon Knight Demetri McCamey.

They did also get rid of TJ Fords ridiculous contract...but ya...Hibbert would look pretty good in a Raps uni at this point

As a G'Town fan I actually wasn't that high on Hibbert but he's really slimmed down and honed his skills. In college his skills were kind of hidden by the fact that it was tedious for him just running up and down the court.

Kind of come of the long tradition of the rivalry Montreal vs Toronto in hockey. I hate every freakin teams from Toronto and enjoy watching them losing.

One of the most unnoticed stat padders. When centers are fighting for the ball around the rim and you tip it around the rim a few times, you get 2-3 rebounds and shot attempts added to your stat line. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened a few times with Williams and that's how he ended up with so many rebounds and attempts.

I really like the Nets enthusiasm and potential, but I can't help but think how nasty Rudy Cool would be in this lineup instead of outlaw (and probably Petro's contract)

Harris-Morrow-Cool-Murphy-Bropez
and our bench with TWill, Farmar and Favors just brings so much energy and hustle and excitement.
ohh I wish we had Rudy

How did Greg Monroe get no minutes in the season opener? With Jerebko out for the year, one of the only things to watch the Pistons for is to hope Greg Monroe performs well. Stupid Kuester.

Play Derrick along side Kevin Durant and then judge.

Russell is the superior defensive player and rebounder. Rose is the superior offensive player and passer.

I don't think Westbrook will ever be as efficient a scorer or passer as Rose will be. However, I think Rose's defense and rebounding can improve substantially now that that he has a coach that knows what the **** he's doing.

Putting up 31 shots and only completing 12 is NOT being an efficient scorer.

Cousins, Curry, Bargnani (although not really "young"), Beaubois, Tyreke, Collison and Bayless (my homer pick).

Call it a hunch, but I think Bayless really comes on and has a breakout type year in New Orleans. Or maybe it's just delusion haha.

Yeah, because we judge players off one game. When has Derrick ever attempted 31 shots and had that many questionable decisions?

Let's judge Wade and Bosh's performance against Boston as well and come to the conclusion that this is the way they'll play the entire year. Or how about LeBron's 20 turnovers (I rounded up).

Derrick pressed because he thought he had to be aggressive. I've never, ever seen Derrick completely forget about his teammates and become a ball hog. Hell, we get on him for being too passive most of the time. If Rose consistently plays like this then I'll be worried, but I'll chalk it up to a bad game with bad decisions and move on. Derrick's game management is usually pretty damn good.

Westbrook gets a lot of open lanes because of Durant and Green. You can't really collapse because he can find open shooters. So defenses for the most part are willing to play him straight up.

Plus, his activity is ridiculous. He's like a mini-version of Blake Griffin. Full speed all the time. Fun to watch, but frustrating because he gets out of control way too often. Russell needs to slow down and let the game come to him more often. It was the same way at the WC's. He did have a handful of spectacular plays, but he also made some really bad decisions by being too aggressive.

Yeah he did but every time he's been around a high level atmosphere he's been the most impressive guy. The guy really is a freak with a sick skill set. At worst I think he's a Rashard Lewis type player. Of course if his work ethic and effort doesn't improve he could end up busting but if we are talking a #1 pick who has potential to be a game breaker that's Perry Jones where as I see Harrison Barnes just being a very good pro player, but not dominant, kind of like the Brandon Roy of SF's.

The NBA draft is so tricky like that. You pass up on the raw talent for the more established player, and you end up with Ammo over Rudy ***. You try to do the opposite, and you wind up with Darko over D-Wade, Bargnani over Roy, or Nikoloz Tskitishvili over anyone. That guy sucked. You try to take a safe guy, thinking okay well at worst we get a dominant defender, and he has definite offensive potential, and you get Greg Oden over Kevin Durant.

Oh by the way, I've officially given up on Oden. He can still be a decent player, but nothing like what I thought he was going to be, at minimum. I still think that at the time, he was a good enough pick because of all that potential at that position and I didn't foresee Durant being the top MVP candidate at this point in his career. But damn, Durant got realllllly good, and really fast. I thought he'd be a very good player, an all-star, but kinda trapped in with the glut of G/Fs that are all very good players. He's already arguably a top 3 player in the game after LeBron and Kobe.

Oden's injury history prior to the draft was a goddamn broken wrist in his freshman season, that's it. It was not a bad pick and I'll still defend it for that reason.

Some other weaker drafts it would have been a good pick, like whenever Bargnani went #1, but I think it was pretty clear Durant was going to be a stud. I don't think most people thought he would be this good this soon and hindsight is 20/20 but I always liked Durant over Oden.

Pass. That's a red flag for me. Give me the hard worker underachiever over the talented slacker any day.

Can't say I know much about Jones to begin with, but reading that would make me worried as a GM. I understand the kid has some serious upside, but he'll never reach it if he has a bad work ethic.

Until proven otherwise, I'll take Barnes as my #1 prospect right now. Sullinger is quite a beast too at Ohio State.

I can't really comment on work ethic so much as I don't know how hard he works but he does have plenty of moments in games in which he coasts and seems disinterested and doesn't want to dominate like he can. I said the same thing about Rudy *** though even coming out of college. I think a year at Baylor in which he is the man in the national spotlight will make it clear if he's going to be a special player or not.

I will too. I pimped Oden up to the draft and stand by the fact that if not for his injuries he could've been a damn good player at this level. Oden hasn't struggled because he's not good enough. He's struggled because of freak injuries.

No one could've predicted Jordan's rise to greatness either and to this day I still think people are too hard on the Blazers taking Bowie. What Jordan did at his size was unheard of in a big man's league.

Today's game hasn't changed much either. A big man like Dwight Howard can dominate in a guard driven league and Oden fit the bill. They had some depth at guard and wanted to solidify their front court. On paper, Oden was a good fit for that team and what they thought they needed.
