Well for starters, he isn't very good. Deeper, he is a spread QB with good mobility but a very average arm and you will be running a Pro Style offense. These things don't blend. I can't say Morris or Williams will be any better in it, but I can Forcier would have been a disaster in your offense. From there you need to remember he is a spoiled brat who could easily cause locker room tension that you just don't need.

He's basically Marve with a weaker arm.

Al Golden puts in work on the recruiting trail. Holy crap. I just hope he's decent as a gameday coach, cause he's definitely going all out to bring in as much talent as possible.
Also, Storm Johnson is gone.

That's actually a really good comparsion.
And losing Storm sucks. After moving Chambers and Clements, we're a little thin at RB. At least we have two future NFL backs in Miller and James.

I'm glad Forcier didn't make it to Miami. All he would have added was depth and NOTHING more. No true value because even AJ Highsmith could have played better and that's not saying much.
Storm's transfer hurt but Lamar Miller will hold down the spot.

Storm f*cked himself by transferring, because the starting spot would have been his next season, because I had him beating out Mike James.
I got word he transferred because the RB coach did not like his running style.

Kiper put Ray Ray Armstrong No. 18 on his big board. Am I missing something? Don't get me wrong, he's obviously got talent, but.... really?

He hasn't watched him play. Armstrong is a bust given his 5 star billing.

He's also high on Andrew Datko who has a limited NFL future. At this point it's pure speculation based on potential.

Couple of recruiting tidbits. OL Ereck Flowers and CB Larry Hope recently committed. Flowers could end up as a 4*, solid upside. Also the 2nd QB of the class Preston Dewey committed. HS coach is Ty Detmer, a bit better prospect than Crow but both have a fair amount of work to do their senior seasons.
Also Thurston Armbrister is a late addition to the 2011 class. Big safety who is a late qualifier.

Do we have a shot at the #1 kid, the WR from Missouri? Or is it just one of those "Miami puts a lot of players in the NFL" and then we never hear from him again? What about Eddie Goldman?

DGB is going to visit this summer I think so there is some chance but I doubt it, think he ends up in the Big 12 but I haven't followed his too closely. Goldman was a Canes fan growing up and there is interest but he's been pretty quiet. Think he ends up in the SEC though.

Why does Datko have a limited future? I'm a huge Datko fan. He owned Paige-Moss who's considered a potential top 5 pick.

http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/sports/...123930574.html
Ex-Canes' Dad Calls UM Rules "Slavery"
Former Miami Hurricanes running back Storm Johnson declared his intent to transfer from the U nearly a month ago, but it looks like Canes fans have not heard the last from the formerly-hyped runner, and the situation is not getting any prettier.
This week Johnson's dad lambasted the Canes for preventing Storm from transferring to 26 schools, including every team in the ACC and SEC conferences and upcoming nonconference opponents.
"Any [BCS conference] school within six hours of his home has been blocked," Wesley Johnson told the Miami Herald. He likened Miami's transfer restrictions to "modern-day slavery," adding, "UM should be ashamed for doing this to an 18-year-old."
The practice of preventing transfers from joining teams in the same state or conference is pretty widespread among major programs, but Johnson thinks Miami is taking it too far. "I can respect ACC schools being on the list, but why Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee?" he asked.
He also clarified why Storm decided to transfer, telling the Herald, "Storm didn't approve of the military style he was being coached."
UM did not comment on Johnson's charges, but Al Golden did say of the running back, "He wasn't doing the things he needed to do. He can spin it any way he wants."
Something tells us calling Golden a drill sergeant and a slave-driver hasn't exactly softened his stance.
The Herald reported that Johnson has already visited Purdue University and will visit UCF this week.
David Hill is a Miami native who spent most of his childhood at the Orange Bowl.

This is exactly why Rivals and Scout have greatly deteriorated the college game. This kid (and many, many others have gone the same route, not just at Miami) comes into campus expecting to be treated like royalty because there was four stars next to his name on his Rivals profile. Now, if you sign 20 players in a class, you can basically expect five or more to have sour endings every single class.
These kids get verbal blowjobs from everyone.. the fans, "analysts", reporters trying to interview them, they build them up and then when they come to campus and are treated like everyone else, they freak out.

Six Canes Named to Lindy's Preseason All-ACC Team
Miami also predicted to finish second in the ACC's Coastal Division
Lindy's ACC Predictions CORAL GABLES, Fla.-- Lindy's Sports has announced that six Hurricanes have been named to its 2011 Preseason All-ACC Team. Ray-Ray Armstrong and Brandon Washington each earned first team honors, while Travis Benjamin, Marcus Forston, Sean Spence and Vaughn Telemaque have been named to the publication's second team.
In addition, Lindy's has tabbed the Hurricanes to finish second in the ACC's Coastal Division behind Virginia Tech and ahead of North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Virginia and Duke.
Washington, who was also recently included in Rivals.com's list of the Top 100 college football players nationally, started all 13 games for the Canes at right guard as a sophomore last season. He recorded 56 pancakes, 11 lumberjacks and was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week on two occasions (at Duke, 10/16; vs. Virginia Tech, 11/20).
Armstrong ranked third on UM's defense in tackles a season ago with 79. Playing in all 13 games and garnering four starts, Armstrong also tied for the team-lead with three interceptions.
Lindy's Coastal Division predictions are similar to the final standings of the 2010 season, when Virginia Tech went 8-0 and Miami went 5-3 to finish first and second respectively in the division. From there, North Carolina and Georgia Tech tied for third with a league mark of 4-4 and Virginia and Duke tied for fifth with an identical record of 1-7.
Lindy's Atlantic Division prediction for the 2011 season have Florida State winning the division followed by Clemson, Maryland, NC State and Wake Forest. The Hurricanes will open their 2011 season at Maryland on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

No elite Nole talent in the NFL right now. They used to be right near the top of the pro factory discussion. Everette Brown has been a huge disappointment...I thought he'd be a beast.
Greg Carr is doing well in the CFL though!

It's actually kinda crazy Miami and UT are #1 at #2 since we've been "down" for a few years.
Anyways, carry on.

I'm out to lunch, but can someone confirm what happened with Latwan Anderson?
Also, what are the thoughts on Denzel Perryman? Kid looks like he can lay the lumber. Are other people excited about him, or any of the other LB Freshmen?

He was given a pseudo-test by Shannon to behave himself, failed miserably, left the team, stopped taking classes and is gone from the school. He's MIA right now and most feel he'll never play a down of major CFB. Headcase to say the least.
Perryman is explosive and should be a stud before he leaves, but right now the reports are that Gionni Paul is ahead of him. Paul is bigger and has a better understanding of the game. Paul should be in the 2 deep. Perryman might redshirt or contribute on ST.
