Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" series is pretty good.

Read this over the holiday break. A necessary read for anyone into technology.

Seriously, I worship the new york times paper he writes on.

Just reread Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers.
Love the social and political themes, which are not very present in the movie.

I'll look into it. I am compiling a list for the x-mas break. I prefer books that arent attempting to scare me though.

I just recently finished Frankenstein for the first time. Great novel. It's only gotten more relevant as time goes on.

Books that I plan to read soon but keep getting pushed back on my list:
-All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren
-A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
-The World According to Garp by John Irving
-Invisible man by Ralph Ellison
-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
-The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck
I should finish those by the end of January if I don't have to spend a ton of time on something else.

I actually enjoyed Frankenstein way more than I thought I would. It's been a few years since I've read it.

Wasn't he initially vehemently behind the invasion of Iraq? Not meaning to start any political talk just wanted to clarify.

I loved Frankenstein.
And that looks like a pretty good list Staubach, Invisible Man is one of my favorites.

my "to read" list is around 70 books at the moments, some ive alraedy ready and just want to re-read, but its intimidatingly long. I just re-read chuck p's Survivor yesterday, and it was as good as ever. Not his best book, but certainly not his worst.

You are a fool!!! Survivor is no doubt his best book. I am now likely going to buy Clown Girl, Geek Love, and the new Dr. Dennis Leary and Kevin Nealon books. I still have a lot of recently purchased books but those four sound awesome.

To be fair, this book by Friedman is less "oh my god we're so ******" than The World is Flat. Friedman definitely spends a good portion of the book (almost the first half) trying to communicate the dire importance of the issues we face, but he does actually go into methods of action and where we need to find ourselves soon to avoid catastrophe. Granted, his solutions are mildly simplistic, but they are sensible.
Overall, this book sums up the major issues of humanity over the next fifty years rather succinctly, and for that reason I think it is a must read.

I believe he was (as was almost everyone), but I imagine Friedman would be behind any situation that at least appears to be trying to remove petrodictatorships (something we haven't done, but said we would going forward into the war).

I like both Choke and Fight Club better then Survivor. Survivor is probably more well written then the other two, but I didn't like the cheap ending of Survivor. I remember feeling cheated after I read Chuck Palahniuk's explanation of what happens in the final minutes of the novel. It kinda bothers me, and where I love some of the concepts of the novel, I felt Fight Club hammers home his anti-consumerist message more effectively and Choke proves a far more identifiable character in Victor.
