As for something else....gah, I want to see Inception one more time before it's out of theatres. Friend is being a *****, though. And spent money to see Piranha 3D the other day and he still hasnt seen Inception...I hate my friends. lol.
If other Coen films bore you, which they don't for me, then I'm pretty positive that A Serious Man will do just that.
Finally got around to watching Kickass and I thought it was fantastic. One of the best movies I've seen all year. Scratch that, THE best movie I've seen this year.

Inception? but yeah kick ass is one of my top movies this year too.
Why shouldn't I work for the N.S.A.... that's a tough one. But I'll take a shot.
Say I'm working at N.S.A. and somebody puts a code on my desk, something no one else can break. Maybe I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East, and once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hidin'- fifteen hundred people that I never met, never had no problem with get killed.
Now the politicians are sayin', oh, "Send in the marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a ****. It won't be their kid over there, gettin' shot, just like it wasn't them when their number got called, 'cause they were pullin' a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some guy from Southie over there, takin' shrapnel in the ass; he comes back to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from, and the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cause he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks.
Meanwhile he realizes the only reason he was over there in the first place was so that we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price, and of course the oil companies use the little skirmish over there to scare up domestic oil prices- a cute little ancillary benefit for them, but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. They're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, o' course, maybe they even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis an' ******' play slalom with the icebergs; it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic.
So now my buddy's outta work, he can't afford to drive, so he's walkin' to the ******' job interviews, which sucks 'cause the shrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorrhoids, and meanwhile he's starvin' 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat, the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State.
So what did I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. I figure **** it, while I'm at it, why not just shoot my buddy, take his job, give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected President.
Can't believe that was the first I've seen/heard of it.
Louie Kritski: Wat are you, spying on me?
Tito: No.
Louie Kritski: You casing this joint so the brothers can rob it later?
Tito: [sarcastically] Yeah, you really got some choice stuff here. We can't wait to get our hands on it.
Louie Kritski: How come you're not in school, kid?
Tito: It's Saturday.
Louie Kritski: Yeah? Then why aren't you out playing basketball or break dancing?
It was my favourite movie of the year. I thought it was ******* great.
Great performances by just about everyone involved.
The Rabbi scenes are ******* classic:
I just didnt get what made it great. It's pretty much a modern day re-imagining of the Book of Job, with messages about how **** happens and you should just accept it. "Embracing the Mystery" was a common theme throughout.
The Coens fan base is so loyal, they try to find deeper meaning in everything they do. Even when the Coens are just ******* around. They even said the first scene with the Dybukk (spelling) pretty much had nothing to do with the main story and yet, it's over-analyzed to no end. But anyway...I dont think the majority of the Coens works are entertaining at all. I just dont get the love and it seems that most of their fans have differing opinions about their movies' messages and a lot of their fans dont understand what they're watching in the first place, and yet they still have an unwavering love for the directors. hmm. I think some people are just afraid to voice negative opinions on the Coens. Maybe because their fans first reaction to any hate....is that you're stupid or must have not understood the movie. meh. They're incredibly smart indivisuals, but I just dont like most of their movies, despite all their underlying messages, themes, metaphors, etc. I'm certainly in the minority...but that's how I see it.
Great scene Brent. I love those types of 80's comedies like Stripes and Trading Places.
Or the 80s black comedies like Heathers, Raising Arizona (A Coen Bros. film! Sorry Mothman but everybody loves Raising Arizona), After Hours & Repo Man.

Even I like Raising Arizona....I dont dislike all of their movies...but a lot of them.

I'm a big Coens fan and I really didn't like A Serious Man. I don't remember much about the movies between O, Brother and No Country, but everything else has been at least good in my mind.
