And I'm comfortable with being mislabeled pretensious by those that don't know me. I find that the majority of film and music that I like are bizarre and non-mainstream. However, there are countless examples of such art that is absolutely tremendous. If someone doesn't like it, that's absolutely fine by mean. The medium isn't meant to be easily digested by everyone. But I'm also not that "dark, creepy kid" that likes stuff just because it's "f***ed up." I'm just drawn to the bizarre.

So you admit that the reason you watched it is because you heard how disturbing it was? So you watched it for the sake of what you hate about it?

I actually avoided A Serbian Film until I continued to read how tremendous it was if you can wash away the filth.

I say this having not watched either of the Human Centipede films because I've yet to read or hear anything redeeming about either of them.

I've watched plenty of movies that I'd deem to be ****** up. I think violence can be used tastefully, but this movie just didn't do that. Chopping someones head off and continuing to have sex with them is not a good allegory for anything. I'd still argue that it isn't filmed in a special way and is not a good movie when stripped of the shock stuff.

Requiem for a Dream is my favorite movie of all time.

It's like Gaspar Noe. I absolutely LOVE Enter the Void. I own I Stand Alone. I can't get the nerve to watch I Stand Alone again, and I've yet to sit through the rape scene in Irreversible.

Eh, I'm not judging you or your taste. I just find it odd that you would have such strong "anti" feelings about it, if you knew what you were getting into before hand. If you thought it wasn't a great movie then it would simply be what you thought it was. A disturbingly shocking movie, that you watched because you heard it was disturbingly shocking. Either way, it seems to have done its job.

Antichrist is a prime example of a film that is considered abhorrent by many/most. It has truly vile scenes in it. I think it's one of the better films I've ever seen.

I go into everything with an open mind. I don't have strong 'anti' feelings about it. I just think it was unnecessary and saying the child rapings and necrophilia were a metaphor for government oppression or whatever is just a cop out.

and as for scatology...

What can I say? I was a hardcore punk kid that grew up in the 80's. I was exposed to the performances of G.G. Allin at a young age. Perhaps it numbed my senses.

But that's an opinion. The intent of the writer cant be proven. It has been written that it is metaphoric because you view everything that is the most vile, repugnant relations between people you could possibly imagine. He feels that is precisely what the Serbian government does to its people.

Truly metaphoric or not, I can promise that it has drawn interest in the current circumstances in Serbia. Sometimes it takes a punch to the face to get someone's attention.

That talk from nearly a year ago looks to be panning out. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny De Vito and Ivan Reitman are considering a sequel to the 1988 comedy "Twins".

The twist? Eddie Murphy would act as a third brother and the film will be called "Triplets" says The Hollywood Reporter.
Yes, that is a real story and possible movie.

I saw The Hunger Games. Good movie. Like Chronicle, it was a refreshing experience. I hadn't read the source material (which received critical acclaim), but I was thoroughly entertained. The movie stands well on it's own merits.

Saw Wrath of the Titans yesterday and...idk...I have mixed feelings. It was decently entertaining but was nowhere near the 1st one. Still a decent film.

It already came out? Wow i'm so behind.

I actually don't remember seeing a movie recently. I used to be a big movie buff but i think i've seen 3-4 complete movies this year (not counting bits and pieces on TV). The only movie i've seen in the theatre in the last 6 months was Safe House. Any good movies i should catch up on from the last 6 months? I'm open to any genre

You are an awful person.

But no Brent, contrary to popular belief, I have not seen every single Australian film from the last 20+ years. But I know it gets a lot of acclaim. Movies like it and Two Hands did a lot for Crowe/Ledger.

I did not think you had seen every Aussie film from the last 20 years, I just know it was well-known and curious if you had seen it. That said, you should see it.

It's on my perennial to watch list. It's one of those movies that is always on television once a year here so I'll get to it eventually!

Also given the current Dog theme on NFLDC, people should check out Red Dog - an Aussie movie (true story) about a dog who roamed all over the outback searching for his owner.
