I really liked Rocky 3 only because Eye of the tiger was my favorite song of the 80's really until somewhere in the range of 1993-1995.

I saw American Hustle. I thought it was really strong. Great performances throughout by a star studded cast. David O. Russell is really on a roll right now with Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter and now this movie.

That said, I have to say that I liked Wolf of Wall Street better. I thought that was a fantastic film. Best Scoresese movie since Goodfellas in my opinion. Even more than the Departed. I want to go back and see it again actually. And I think that DiCaprio was better than I've ever seen him. Between this performance and Django Unchained he's really made great strides as an actor. I never really cared for him earlier in his career, honestly...

I saw Anchorman 2, American Hustle, and Wolf of Wall Street all within a two day period. Anchorman, surprised me and was entertaining and funny, funnier than I expected it to be. I was expecting a Hangover 2 scenario where they just reuse the whole formula from the previous film. Love the celebrity cameos. I thought Brick could be a little bit too much at times, in my opinion they went full ****** with him.

At first I really liked American Hustle, I though Jennifer Lawrence was amazing. She stole that film in my opinion and deserves an Oscar for best supporting actress. But looking back it just felt kind of vanilla. There's a huge plot hole in the film with Bale and his loan scheme.

I loved Wolf of Wall Street and it lived up to the great expectations I had for it. DiCaprio was amazing, I think he deserves best actor, I don't know though for sure because I haven't seen Her, Inside Llewellyn Davis, Nebraska, Dallas Buyers Club and 12 Years a Slave. The overall film though is incredible. I can't imagine how difficult some of those shots with a ton of extras were to orchestrate, but as usual Scorsese pulled it off and those scenes were amazing. The movie is like a non stop adrenaline rush. You're always entertained or laughing. I think Jonah Hill was great too, I think he might've earned a Best Supporting Actor award. Wolf of Wall Street is in the same mold of Good Fellas and Casino on the same level in terms of quality. As usual it has an awesome soundtrack. To my surprised when I went and looked at the music used in the film most of it wasn't 90s music like it seemed, but blues and jazz.

That being said, I do feel kind of guilty enjoying it. This guy Jordan Belfort seems like a huge ass-hol who hasn't changed that much. He's now a motivational speaker and hasn't really owned up to what he did and doesn't really seem to have expressed a lot of remorse over essentially stealing from people who were naive. And he's not paying his restitution to his victims I've read. I've read he embellished a lot of the book, which just makes it seem like he really hasn't changed and he's just trying to con people again. It's pretty clear that he coined himself the Wolf of Wall Street and unlike what the movie suggests wasn't called that at the time.

No, the Forbes article started the Wolf thing, not Belfort.

I recently on the Harvard Business Review about how prevalent Psychopathy is in the Finance industry. This film is really a testament to that fact. I don't think enjoying it is approving of it anymore than enjoying any of Scorsese's films are. He is pretty damn good at making entertaining films about horrible, horrible people.

No, the original title of that article was "Steaks, stocks - what's the difference?"

This recent Forbes article explores the history of the nickname "Wolf of Wall Street"

Seen it, Keanu sticks out like a sore thumb and it is fine. You don't care about the love story and the bad guy kind of get's defeated easily. It just kind of ends.

I really loved American Hustle and all of the performances. Lawrence was undeniably terrific but I couldn't quite shake how transparently the role was written for a slightly older lady. the whole dynamic with her being baby-faced and really easily younger than Amy Adams was slightly off. but no real complaints in any way, great film.

I'm not sure what to make of The Hobbit. I'd almost certainly like it more had I never read the book, but I'm guessing no more than half of that movie is actually taken from the book as Tolkein wrote it. The Tauriel love story was simply atrocious.
