The Reader was very good. It wasn't great but better than I expected based on all the "hate" it got on here. I'm compiling my top 20 list and it checks in at #8, but I still have a few more movies to go.

Because it was?

I dont know, I really dont feel the need to explain that one. Agree to disagree I suppose, because I dont think it was even close. I dont think Slumdogs ensemble as a whole is in the same stratosphere as the other 4 that were nominated. And I didnt even like Milk.

Again though, thats not to say Slumdog isnt good. I loved Slumdog. Just not because of the acting.

I watched Doubt for this first time last night. While i enjoyed Slumdag Millionaire and CCBB, I think that Doubt is by far the best movie that I have seen this year. I have yet to watch The Reader or Revolutionary Road.

I wouldn't call my one man hate crusade a lot of hate necessarily.

I'm just saying that the acting in BB really wasn't anything that special either and I think overall the acting was stronger in Slumdog.

It's solid. I don't think it's as spectacular as a lot of other people make it out to be though.

Gran Torino was good, but it isnt on the same level as a few of the other premier movies this year.

The acting in CCOBB was better then it was in Slumdog...Acting Ensemble? what ensemble? there are literally 3 characters the whole movie, and one of them just sits around and looks pretty. And while Slumdog was on par with Button as a film, and I have the utmost respect for Danny Boyle for taking a low budget film with no stars and turning it into an awards magnet, I just cannot see how Slumdog has better acting then CCOBB, at least ensemble wise. Hell, I would even put Doubt and Milk over Slumdog as far as Acting Ensemble, and I actually disliked Milk as a film. As in, didnt enjoy it at all.

I would put the others over Slumdog, just not CCOBB. I just think the visuals and the story carried it, not the acting.

I could maybe buy that argument...However, I thought that both Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett were stellar in their roles, however I can understand how people may disagree. There wasnt a moment in Button where Pitt turned, looked at the screen and said GIVE ME MY OSCAR! It didnt have that wow moment as far as his acting was concerned. However, I felt he did a superb job the entire way through, in portraying a completely ordinary man set in a series of extraordinary circumstances. And Blanchett was very very good in her character, and the supporting cast, from the Boat Captain to his adoptive mother, were all very well done. I think that because the visuals were so spectacular, it pushed the acting to the back a bit, but the acting was, IMO, still very strong. But like I said, i think Slumdog will win best picture at the oscars, I just dont think it should be winning any best acting ensembles.

Just finished up A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints for the first time and I thought it was pretty good. As much slack Tatum and LaBeouf get, I thought they were good in Saints, really solid performances from both. RDJ is great as usual, but it was really Palminteri who steals the movie for me. The switch from present to flashback is a bit random and a little distracting, but not enough to ruin the movie. Overall a decent flick.

I think we can all agree Gran Torino should have won Best Ensemble :)

I actually agree with Brodeur and prefer Slumdog to CCOBB acting wise. Again I am not trying to hate on Button but of all the nominees for ensemble acting at the SAG's I would have Button rated the lowest. I would have given the award to Milk with Doubt as the runner up. Frost/Nixon would have been third if I rated the 5.

Ensemble wise,

1. Doubt
2. Frost/Nixon
3. Milk
4. Button
37. Slumdog

Hell, Dark Knight deserved it over Slumdog.

I think the reason why i love Ghostbusters so much is because it was when Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, and Harold Ramis were all in their prime. Throw in Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Rick Moranis in his only good role and it's a great cast

Hell, Dark Knight deserved it over Slumdog.
I'd put Dark Knight above Button.

I might put Dark Knight over everything there but Doubt lol

Bale is the perfect Batman/Wayne, Ledger was terrific, Oldman and Eckhart were very good and both very underrated due to Ledger, and Caine/Freeman were their usual awesome selves.
