As for Fight Club, it seems everyone has a different opinion on the movie. I personally view it as a masterpiece, and it speaks to a generation. The irony of being fed a speech about how we will never be movie stars by one of the biggest stars on the planet always cracks me up. The movie itself is technically flawless, and while I can understand how the anti consumerist message could rub some the wrong way, I connect with it on a number of levels. Also, I find the final scene to be one of the more romantic things Ive ever seen. I love the idea of two people holding hands at the end of the world. Just seems interesting.

That said, I know alot of people who hate Fight Club. And I know alot of people who feel its average at best.

What does your $500 watch say about this?

As someone who saw it for the first time not too long ago, I think it was a very good movie. Great? Meh, I don't think so. I don't think the movie had any flaws per se, I just don't "dig" it if ya know what I mean. I think the anti-consumerist message is correct for the most part, but I'm not an anti-consumerist.

My top 5 Sci-Fi would be...

1. The Matrix(Will go the trilogy to stop it copping multiple slots.
2. Star Wars(as with Matrix)
3. V for Vendetta
4. 12 Monkeys
5. Dark City

If you argue The Prestige as Sci-Fi then it would move to 1 for me. Also, haven't seen District 9 or Star Trek yet so obviously not included, though both look good.

I didn't know people actually like SO 2001. To me, its one of the most boring and most overrated movies I've ever seen. Though I will give you credit for being the only person with Blade Runner on your list.

28 Days Later is a horror movie.

And my favorite movies that I consider sci fi movies (some of the movies listed in the last few posts aka The Thing, Robocop, T2, Jurassic Park, and the not yet listed Aliens I don't really consider to be science fiction):

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. Dark City
3. Alien
4. Blade Runner
5. The Terminator

Just finished it up. Haven't watched it since it came out, and even then I didn't really pay much attnetion to it. But I thought it was solid.

Cloverfield would be in there with my favorite Sci Fi movies. Wow was I caught up in the mystery and the hype. It's far from perfect but, an instant classic, imo. Probably going to be one of those movies that grows in popularity as the years go by.

Hey buddy just check the Wikipedia page for 28 Days Later.

"28 Days Later is a 2002 British post-apocalyptic science fiction film directed by Danny Boyle"

I wasn't so sure myself but if Wiki says it, it's true.

I wasn't so sure myself but if Wiki says it, it's true.
It has science fiction roots like the other films I listed, but the genre it fits most into is horror as opposed to science fiction.

I never said I followed what was preached. Just because I say I identify with the situation, doesnt mean Im any better then those who fall prey to the exact things Fight Club condemns. I will be the first to admit that while I adore the film, and the book its based on, it paints an unrealistic and unachievable picture of a world without things like 500 dollar watches. I have never, nor will I ever, claim to live the way Fight Club suggests. For me to connect with its anti-consumerist message doesnt mean I have to abide by it. I appreciate what the film says, and how it says it. That doesnt mean I live by it.

Did you guys hear that Rampage Jackson will play B.A. Baracus in the A-Team movie?

Joining a cast consisting of Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper. WTH?

hmm. I dont know much about the A-Team but, I think they could have done better finding someone to replace Mr. T. Seems like a lot of people like the move but, bleh.
