No but, I meant that it looked like one of those generic 90's comedies. About buddy cops who constantly butt heads and bicker back and forth and what not. This movie has only been done a thousand times...and I could add the 80's in there as well. With 48 Hours, Lethal Weapon, Midnight Run, etc. The buddy cop comedy is as played out as it gets.

Most comedies are played out but they can still be funny. I'll give Kevin Smith the benefit on this one. Also, Moth tomorrow is going to suck with the snow.

Kevin Smith posted this review of Cop Out on his Twitter. The idea that 90's comedies ARE as "played out as it gets" was kind of his main point with this movie.

ThatKevinSmith: Dear Karina @VillageVoice: Many thanks for absolutely getting it. I need not read another COP OUT review after yours:

...And so Cop Out announces itself as both loving "homage" to "everything on cable"—particularly '80s action comedies, referenced most directly by Harold Faltermeyer's cheap synth score and an honest-to-goodness plot song (called "Soul Brothers" and sung by Patti LaBelle)—and a sly subversion of genre. It's a movie that shamelessly trafficks in the clichés of other cop movies...

Yes it is. I dont know what exactly to expect right now. My local weather says anywhere from 6-12" but, I've heard well over a foot on other channels. Even potentially 12-24" So I dont know.

Well the idea wasnt even Kevin Smith's to begin with, he was approached by Warner Bros. to do it. But anyway, sadly for Smith, who I love, the movie is supposed to blow. Homages can be garbage if done incorrectly.

I wish people would ignore reviews. Some of my favorite movies were **** on by critics. The only time i EVER read reviews is AFTER I see a movie. And I rarely do that. I hate reviews.

Im going to see Cop Out, because the red band trailer was hilarious.

Just watched State of Play. I thought it was really good, well acted, did not resort to cliches that many of today's movies have, nice ending. + Rachel McAdams = win.

All the schtick about Krasinski as Captain America is purely rumor at this point. They tested about 6 actors for the role yesterday, including one kid from The OC and one from Friday Night Lights, along with Mike Vogel of Cloverfield fame, who was the #2 choice to play Kirk in the rebooted Star Trek.

I personally still think Aaron Eckhart is perfect, but I guess I dont get to cast the movie :(

I don't like Aaron Eckhart much, but he would indeed be a good fit as Captain America.

I saw The Mist last night and I must say, for a downright awful movie with one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen played by Marcia *** Harden (a terrific actress no less), it had an incredible ending.

I think the film had great potential, but it should have took a more Jaws-like approach to the "monsters" that are in the mist. Just seeing those Dreamcatcher, another awful movie, monsters is simply stupid and incredibly off putting for me. These big stupid bugs, everything about these creaters are corny and cheesy. I really struggle to accept bugs like this in movies. If I was five and I still thought monsters were in my closet while I went to sleep, I might find these things scary, but I don't so I don't.

The final ten minutes of the film and the decisions made by the lead character are simply incredible. That kind of hopelessness is rarely caught on screen and it take balls to end a movie like that (Not sure if that was taken straight from King or changed during adaptation). It almost made up for an otherwise terrible movie, but I honestly couldn't sit through the first 2 hours all over again just to see it. It kinda pisses me off to see such a great ending attached to such a **** movie.

The scene where the guy walks into the mist with a rope around his waist... INCREDIBLE scene... the guy that gets taken from one of the monsters and pulled under a garage door... AWFUL. When the monsters break into the supermarket and they set 'em on fire and beat them with broom handles... AWFUL!

A movie like this... less is more. Way too long as well. Two hours of people in a grocery store? I laughed way too much for a movie that takes itself this seriously.
I agree that the Mist had some inherent problems in its script & continuity that showed too obviously -- the ending was good allright, but didnt really save it. I think it's b/c it is derived from a 1980s Stephen King novella & they had to protract it into a feature film -- you can only stretch a monster movie (where the people vs. the monsters is the hook) so much. Characters were good as always in King stories & Marcia *** Harden as always stole the show as the voice of King's harsh social commentary.

The base story is among King's greatest, written in his most fertile creative period, in the 70s along with masterworks like Salem's Lot & The Shining & the Night Shift short story anthology (where every story has been made into feature films, like Children of the Corn, Needful Things, Pet Sematary, Trucks = Maximum Overdrive, etc) before he was went bigtime, he was living in a trailer in Maine, taking LSD & teaching English.

Other than being 110% over the top with some annoying performances, Fatal Attraction does everything it can to capture the mood and essence that Glenn Close's character brings to the film. In the end I think it relies too much on the score, knives and pure shock value instead of creating a world of reality and how that would play out if Glenn Close wasn't the invisible woman that can take rabbits and stick them in boiling water and get in through locked doors when everyone is home. For a second I thought she might have been based on Michael Myers. Overall, a solid B-movie that is fairly entertaining, but incapable of matching up to the height. Michael Douglas is the ******* man, but everyone already knew that.

Glenn Close also looked like **** in the movie. They should have gotten someone much hotter. There's just not much that I thought was incredibly well done. It is all about the idea of someone who is insane and how completely obsessed they are with someone and the lengths they will go to keep them, or take them from their wife. Other than that, this movie has next to nothing going for it.

Over 20 years later the movie seems a bit cheesy and corny.

Shutter Island was great. The ending wasn't shocking, but the final line was awesome.

Thats been in development for a while. I remember seeing Ben Stiller mention it in an interview a while back.

Going to see Shutter Island in about 10 minutes, pretty excited.

Just got back from Shutter Island. It was...interesting. Definitely a movie Im going to need to see a 2nd time before I get a good grip on it. I enjoyed it, and there were aspects of it that were spectacular, but I wont lie and say I didnt expect more from the film.

If you didn't see that ending coming a mile away, then you might have never watched a movie before. Reminded me a whole hell of a lot of

Overall, well written, well acted, well directed, and the film looked great. Just something didn't click to solidify it as "great" for me. Then again, I said the same thing about The Departed after I first saw it, and now its in my personal top 10. Ill definitely need a second viewing.

It's not on the same level as the Departed(few movies are), but it's still a very good movie. That's the problem, people keep comparing it to Scorcese's other works and it's nearly impossible to live up to those expectations.

Yeah, I never said it wasn't a good movie. But after the fantastic trailer and the sort of hype it received, I had high expectations, not all of which were met. Kind of like Where the Wild Things Are earlier last year. A very good movie, but I did think Id like it more.

I should probably let it marinate a little more though.
