Bills tight end Kevin Everett was carted off the Ralph Wilson Stadium field with a neck injury early in the second half.
The Bills confirmed late Sunday evening that Everett was in surgery. Bills Head Coach Dick Jauron said Everett suffered a "cervical-spinal" injury but would not talk about the seriousness of his condition, or if he was able to move at any point en route to the hospital.
2 On Your Side has confirmed Everett has been taken to Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital in Buffalo.
The injury occurred on the opening kickoff of the second half. Everett fell to the ground after a helmet-to-helmet hit on Denver's Domenik Hixon. He showed no signs of consciousness and was eventually loaded onto an ambulance.
The young tight end out of Miami was expected to have an increased role with the offense and special teams this season."
I find it terrible that NFL.com has NOTHING about this.
My Prayers are with Everett and his family

I hope everything is alrite and he'll be able to walk and be normal one day soon. These kinda hits can kill a man or paralyze him for life.

It was a nice hit.. nothing abnormal.. hit him with his shoulder... just extreme bad luck... this guy made plays like this all pre season.. prayers and thoughts are with his family... hope for a full recovery... its things liek this that make you realize how insignificant football really is in the big scheme of things

This has really overwhelmed me, I just feel like going to bed.
Please, please have Everett in your thoughts and prayers tonight. I appreciate everyone's concern, especially Bronco nation who have been very supportive. He's on a respirator right now and will be evaluated tomorrow, so again please keep him in your thoughts. God bless and goodnight.

I couldn't agree more. My prayers and the prayers of my Monday Congregation will most certainly be towards the goodwill and recovery of Kevin and his family.

this is quite a shame... i have always thought that everett would make a good TE in the nfl but he has had such terrible luck with injuries. i not only hope that he recovers, but that he is able to make it back to the NFL if he chooses.

I said a prayer as soon as I saw it. I just pray that he will be able to walk again, football is not what's important right now.

Sucks. I've been through this a couple of times with the Lions and it blows.
Prayers to him - hopefully he can come out of this like Lions LB Reggie Brown, who nearly died on the field in 1997 but thanks to quick medical response and then-brand-new drugs was able to make a nearly full recovery although he never played football again.
Everett probably won't play again either - playing on repaired spinal discs in your neck is just too much of a risk - but here's hoping he returns to full functionality as a person, or if not, that he finds a road of fulfillment through helping others like Mike Utley.

this is a terrible thing and no one on any team wants things like this to happen. best of luck to him and his family
does anyone have a clip of the play? i turned on the game when they were attending to him and they didn't show a replay. i also have been watching highlights for the last 12 hours and haven't seen a replay. are they just not showing the hit or am i just constantly missing it?
