Who should we take in the draft?
Who do you guys want in the draft, initially I wanted Andre Woodson but he appears to be rising to high for our pick. If hes around I'd love to grab him and another guy I'd love to take would be CB/S Reggie Smith out of Oklahoma, the dude is sick he could solve a lot of our DB problems. HAs the potential to be a starting CB or S he is also a sick KR/PR specialist.

Yeah he would be a perfect fit. I do not like our depth at DE, its especially showing now that Pryce is out. I think he will most likely go before our pick as well.

Andre Woodson is this years Jamarcus Russell, meaning I really wanted both pre-season but both played so well that they rose above our pick #.
My Top 5 assuming we pick in the middle of the draft are...
1. Antoine Cason CB, Arizona
2. Quentin Groves DE/OLB, Auburn
3. Lawrence Jackson DE/OLB, USC
4. Philip Wheeler OLB, Georgia Tech
5. Early Doucet WR, LSU

Honestly the 2008 draft should be interesting because we don't have any big problem areas. Defensive line would be my top priority, whether it be for the future or for depth. Chris Long is my ideal pick right now. He just fits perfectly for us, and could be a great successor to Pryce. Even when Pryce is here he provides great depth for us.
I'm not a big fan of drafting a corner 1st round, I'm a big believer in guys like Pittman, Martin, and Prude. I think the Ravens showed alot of confidence in them by passing on CB in the 2007 draft. I think one of them will step up and be a future starter for us.
After defensive line, I really can't think of our next biggest weakness. I think we are set at alot of areas, for depth and the future. Wide receiver comes to mind, but Clayton and D-Will are the future starters for us, anyone we would draft would be a slot guy. Though I wouldn't mind looking at a slot guy in round 2, because I love having a boatload of offensive weapons.

Wait a minute... Why are we going after a QB ???? Our QB's have not faired to poorly this year ? Boller has played well and McNair has been hurt and Troy Smith didnt look bad in preseason he just needs seasoning ?! If anything I would be looking to add depth to the Defensive side of the ball...
LB or CB is a need as is DE. Unless we are drafting the next Peyton Manning I would not be looking to QB in the 1st rd. We need to sure up our core the defense. Ray is not getting younger nor is CMac and we need to add another young LB to the mix with Bart and Suggs. I think the OL will be fine next year and the next 4 or 5 years after that if we continue to develop the young talent we have there. RB is pretty solid in my opinion and WR is good as well. Maybe we look to bring in a TE to play behind Heap in the later rounds ?

No need for a back up TE, I think Quinn can be good.

Good point... your right. Hell he got his 1st TD today right ? I think he could stand to bulk up a bit though ?
I would like to see some depth along the DL we are not getting the push we need from the ends like we had last year... maybe this is the effect of not having AD in there ?

You have to go CB in the 1st rd IMO.......
CMac - regardless of today C Mac is a great CB but he'll be 31 next year.
Samari - regardless of what most think Samari is still a very good CB, but he'll be 32 next year
Corey Ivy - Decent nickel but he'll be 31 next year
Ronnie Prude, David Pittman, Derrick Martin - None of these 3 should ever be starters for us, they just don't have the skills, they are nickel and dime guys at best.

Derrick Martin and David Pittman definitely have the 'skills' needed to be starters. Ronnie Prude is really the only one of the 3 that is physically limited.
Remember Pittman was a day 1 pick, and alot of teams were interest in him. Though he hasn't lived up to his draft status, he showed alot of great attributes for a corner. He ran in the mid 4.4's, and showed that he's a pretty fluid player. I know alot of people have written him off, but I still think he can be an effective player. He just needs to work on his confidence and learning the system.
And Martin is probably the most physically gifted player in our secondary. That includes Reed, McAlister, etc. He really has the potential to be as good as he wants. Great size with great bulk at 5'10, 200-205 pounds. He can jam guys, and he has the speed and athleticism to run with receivers. 4.40 speed, and sick leaping ability. Could have easily been a day 1 pick on talent alone. His thing is just getting more playing time and expierience. He's really, really raw at this point.
Maybe you meant something else by "skills", but Pittman and Martin have the ability to be good players.
I know I'm in the minority with these guys, but I think that one of them will step up for us in the future.

Sorry DC I more meant game play skills not measureables, of course they all have NFL quality measurables they are all NFL players but none of the play up to their potential.

Yeah that's what I figured after I was done typing that, and I can see where you're coming from. None of them have really shown the ability to be full time players yet. Just one of those things, I like all 3 of them and I think one will step up for us.

I like the 3 of them as what they are now, Pittman as a nickel/dime guy same with Prude, and Martin as a gunner on special teams/dime CB, I dont like any of the 3 as starters however. If I had to choose 1 of the 3 to start then I'd pick David Pittman.

What is everybody thoughts about Crable from Michigan?
Also I wouldnt mind a possesion WR who can break tackles like Anquan Boldin but obviously he wont be that good.

Martin is my guy, I think his athleticism makes him perfect for us. Pittman is next, with Prude third. I'd take any of them as a starter over Corey Ivy right now.

I truly think that Crable could end up being the top 3-4 OLB available. He's got great versatility, and I believe he's going to put up great numbers at the combine. Top measurables IMO. Plus he's having a monster senior season so far.
5 games, 37 tackles, 14 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 2 FF, 1 FR, 1 BrUp

yea I kind of hope his stock falls so the Ravens could get him in the 1st or he pulls a Lamar Woodley and gets to the second.

I think his stock is probably actually going up, but you never know.

right now Long tops my list then i look at the CB's. I would rank them:
1) malcolm jenkins tOSU*
2) reggie smith OU*
3) Tarrell Thomas USC
4) Antoine Cason Arizona
5) Aqib Talib KSU*
Thomas and cason right now for me are nearly interchangeable
