Hate how these games are on at the same time. At least stagger the start by 20 min or something

Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by Gus Johnson's performance in that first half. I thought he would smother the game with too many words but I think he's found just the right rhythm. He misses some of the subtleties that a more experienced PBP guy would bring, but still doing a good job imo

I listened to him do a SJ Earthquakes game last year, he missed some of the rhythm and still gets too surprised when opportunities open up, but like you said more adapt at calling the game then you would usually expect. I think he will adjust after watching the game longer and longer and be great by the time he needs to call the World Cup.

Both games were good. I have to disagree on Johnson though (and I love him usually). I thought he was awful. Just didn't understand the game at all and tried to use far too many buzz words to make it seem like he did. How many ******* times does he need to say "the six" or "far/near post"? Just give us someone who actually knows soccer. Warren barton was fine.

Johnson was definitely bad today, but to be fair to him he really just started calling (and probably watching) soccer and it seems like they are training him up to call the World Cup. I have a massive softspot for Gus so I have faith he can improve.
On another note its a ******* shame and half that he no longer calls March Madness. He literally made every game SO epic.

I saw maybe 10 minutes of the match and it was just funny with Gus doing it. Just a few subtleties of him doing it the way we would call football vs. the way a European calls soccer. For instance at the very beginning he went through and named all the refs and said a little something about that. I don't think I've ever heard someone talk about a ref other than the head official.

I strongly dislike Gus Johnson. I don't need him yelling at every little thing.

Who else do they plan on teaming him up with? I actually think Barton is terrible in the booth. He should stay with the pre, half, and post shows.
Also any news on how Fox Soccer plans to stay relevant next season?
