Glad for Klinsi that his boys did well, but I'm glad he's gone, Jogi's a tactical moron sometimes but Klinsi was even worse. Jupp Heynkes needs to just take over our NT for the WC!

Edit: Thiago Silva is just too sexy.

Agreed, far too many players who are just happy to pick up a wage and rot away due to the over inflated wages our teams pay.

I've been sitting here stewing over what might be a good team going forward, obviously this still won't be a world beating team, but something along the lines of:

GK - Hart

DR - Johnson? Smalling? Martin Kelly? Wisdom? (We really have nothing here past Johnson, hence his continued appearances)
DC - Phil Jones
DC - Smalling? Cahill?
DL - Baines

DMC - Cleverley
MC - Wilshiire
MC - Nick Powell / Will Hughes (Neither are ready yet, but both should be class IMO)

AMR - Zaha
AML - Sterling
ST - Sturridge

Looks a damn sight better than what we are being served up tonight. I am sure I am missing a ton of names, especially at the back...

oxlade-chamberlain wooo!

he's already one of our best players, he's gonna be a star. same issue with him though. he's not going to get consistent playing time at arsenal.

I still can't believe the team Roy picked here, Milner and Jones on a team already playing Carrick and Lampard? Did you not want to have any attacking prowess off the wings? Shocker how much better they looked once they brought in Ox so Walcott wasn't the only one trying to make anything happen on the wings to spread out the middle.

Don't you know wingers are there just to defend against the oppositions full backs and track inside? Sheesh c'mon Rosebud me old san, Roy would not approve of this analysis.

Guess there's a reason he's coaching the English NT and I'm not.

Think anyone posting in this thread could pick a better team quite frankly :( I hope everyone is now realising why Liverpool fans never took to him, the "brand" of football he imposes on his players is redundant and based in 30 year old logic.

We need Roberto Martinez. English coaches don't have a clue.

Does Roy even know what to do now that they've scored 2 goals? Or does he think the match is over and he can just go home now?

I'd quite like Martinez since he has knowledge of the country already. England's problem has never been the defence, so his major flaw would be somewhat dealt with just with the personnel, and he's shown he can play attractive attacking football.

I'd love to see someone like a Vitor Pereira or Villas Boas handed the reins, but obviously that is just not going to happen.

Looking forward to the media here proclaiming that we have "turned the corner" if this result holds...

Quite frankly this is the worst thing that could happen to us, people will forget the drubbing of the first half and think Roy has stumbled onto a winning formula, rather than an average Brazil team just backing off after scoring.

Edit - I spent too long typing and missed the Brazil equaliser, fail

Yeah, i'd definitely go with a younger guy. Capello and Hodgson have been our last two managers and it's almost as if their personalities are rubbing off on the team as they play. It's like watching paint dry. They don't play with any freedom. A young enthusiastic manager would change that. And then someone European like Martinez and they guys you mentioned would also bring the tactical awareness that every English manager seems to lack.

Which is really weird cause Fabio has given the russian team a really boost, they're grinding out results as that is Fabio's style, but he's shaken up the existing structure and started giving both Kokorin and Dzagoev opportunities to really impress themselves on the russian set up.

England's problems go way deeper than what a manager can change as you guys touched on earlier.

England reaped the benefits of Joe Hart's magnificent goalkeeping in the first half and finally leave their timid approach behind. Who would have forecast this at half-time?
Ugh!

As a BuLi fan I do really appreciate the irony of the EPL's financial muscles crippling the english national team.

It's sadly ironic that Liverpool's downturn in form and new financial philosophy ultimately will help the national team as much as anything. Already this season we've seen appearances from youngsters Raheem Sterling, Jerome Sinclair, Jordon Ibe, Jack Robinson, Andre Wisdom and Martin Kelly. Now I am certainly not saying these are future internationals (though the homer in me certainly thinks Sterling, Ibe, Robinson and the winner of the impending Wisdom / Kelly duel have a chance) but the more English players coming through the better.

Hey man, it's what it took to get the BL to get their **** together. Just look at Dortmund, they were almost bankrupted not long ago and over the past 5 years have gotten their **** together to provide the NT with a great compliment to Bayern from which to draw NTers.

Yeah it's something we have to go through, but ultimately it should reap rewards given time.

USA made too many subs in the last 15 or so, got shaky and too defensive.

Never saw a goal like that 2nd one for the USA... what happened to the German keeper there?
That was atrocious. A gift. Worse than the one England gave the USA in the last World Cup to hand the Yanks a 1-1 point.

Big game down in Jamaica man, Friday.

Demspey is legit, and Altidore has his swag back for the USA.... they got a chance.

Especially with Rodgers there as the youth friendly manager trying to teach the players a style of play england have never really specialized in.

Are the English not fond of Rooney? I don't keep up with their national team, but is his overall underwhelming national career to blame?
