I see that they're bringing the original "the Office" to Adult Swim soon.

That's a show i need to finish at some point, I watched the first season and a half or so when it was airing and then sort of just stopped following it.

It does start off slow but it progressively gets better and better. Midway through season 1 you'll be hooked if you aren't already.
And I'm probably in the minority here but I liked season 2 better than season 1. I'm midway through season 3 right now and I'm still enjoying it.
Keep watching!

I will probably forget a few but this is what I will be watching. Dollhouse, Californication, Dexter, Always Sunny, Big Bang Theory, and maybe Chuck.
I watched the pilot of Glee and didn't love it. I didn't much like.. well any of the characters really. I have the 2nd episode so I will watch it, but odds are that will be the last time.

Fine don't watch Greek anymore. I see how it is.

Just watched the pilot for Glee. Sorry to Forenci and the others who love it, but I didnt see any of the things you spoke of. The writing felt cliched, I didnt really care about any of the people, and it all just seemed so...familiar. Oh my, the jock with the heart of gold...wait, wasn't that Oz in American Pie? Right, he joined a choir too! And there was a girl involved! Christ, the kid even LOOKS like Chris Klein. I do have the 2nd episode downloaded, and I hate to judge a series based on a pilot, so I will give it another episode or two, but to try and tell me its a well written original show is just not true. We have seen it all before, and its been done better before.

So two characters are similar? They both play sports and sing and that makes them the exact same? I mean clearly they casted the character Finn because he look liked Oz. That makes a ton of sense right?
I mean I've seen American Pie and Glee and Finn and Oz are really nothing alike personality wise. Do they have things in common? Sure, but pretty much every character is based off another in some shape or form.
I'm really wondering if you even watched the show, because he didn't join the 'choir' because of a girl. Of course that was blatantly obvious to anyone who watched it, but apparently not you, APS.
I really shouldn't be suprised though since you always love to blast peoples opinions and tastes in shows when you don't like them for whatever reason.

And what is it that you are doing right now? Blasting someone's opinion cause it isnt the same? Dont be an idiot. The similarities between the two characters are huge, and I was expecting a "unique" show, as you claimed, not a cliched high school drama. Not to mention, you have seen what, one, maybe 2 episodes? You have no better base to judge the show on then I do.
You made a huge post and a big deal about how it was an incredibly unique show that was well written and blah blah blah. Im saying, I dont see any of that. Whether you agree with my opinion or not is irrelevant, and you are clearly bias, because how anyone could be so in love and so defensive over a show they have seen 2 episodes of is beyond me.

Awesome. The UK Version was sooooo good. I kind of see why people from the UK get so smarmy when others talk about the US version. I still prefer the first few seasons of the US Office, but this is definitely worth watching, for all who haven't seen it before.
And even though it's on Adult Swim, it'll be interesting to see how much they can get away with. The UK version is a bit more liberal with there dick jokes.

Nah, I'm not blasting your opinion because you don't like the show. If you don't like it that's fine. I'm blasting you for making dumb judgements as I've seen you do many times in the past.
It is a unique show. Sure the situation is cliche but as I mentioned before, every show in television is cliche. You love Scrubs right? Guess what? Medical shows have been done hundreds of times before and continue to be done over and over again. So what makes it unique? Well it's funny, which is often unusual for medical shows, and the characters are mostly unique, and the writing is pretty good.
Same thing with Glee. It's centered on high school, like a million shows in the past have been, but it adds unique elements to it. Like the musical element. Or the fact that it centers more around comedy (the show is like 70% comedy based) and less so on the drama element.
The writing is unique because it offers a different pace and quick witted comments and involves a lot of interesting camera and reference visuals.
Also, I don't know about you but usually after two episodes I have a pretty good feel if I like the show. After two shows I generally know whether or not I'm hooked. I'm not saying I only watch two episodes of a show, because I continue to do so but after the pilot you generally start to get a feel for the show. It can always go up or down hill from there, but usually you get an idea by then.
Which reminds me. Way to rip a show based off watching the pilot. Anyone who watches television should know to never base a show off the pilot for so many reasons. I mean you said how can anyone be so defensive of a show based of two episodes. How the hell can anyone make these deep judgements about who these characters relate to off of watching the pilot? Why don't you take some of your own advice before dishing it out, chief.

Read my original post. I said I would give it a second episode. I said I hate judging shows off a pilot. And would therefore watch more of it before drawing a final conclusion. Again, read.
All of this stuff that you call unique, I dont see. The show itself comes across as cliche and its all been done before.

High School Musical. You literally just described it. Come on man. The title is actually High School Musical, which is the situation you just said Glee was unique in producing.
And comedy in a high school setting? Like thats never been done? Yes, you are right, other shows are cliched as well. They are blatant rip offs of other things though, which is all I see in Glee. Again, I will give it the second episode, since its already downloaded. But I see none of the things you see in it.

You hate judging shows off the pilot and yet you had no problem making a long winded post blatantly ripping it? Right, I better make sure I go back and read properly!
Seriously? You're comparing High School Musical and Glee? One based for angsty young teens and another based for a wide audience with plenty of 'adult' references and situations? Sure. So I guess that means Always Sunny is just a live action version of South Park and LOST is a more serious version of Gilligans Island? Oh wait..

I agree with a lot of APS's points about Glee, I made a short note of it in a previous post. Especially about the characters. I just don't find myself liking or really caring at all about them.
I wouldnt go as far as to call the show a walking cliche, but it certainly doesnt feel like anything new to me. High school comedy/drama. But there are scenes with music! Not just your typical background music during a scene either, the actual actors are lip syncing and everything!
