Summer League stats are inflated, this is true but, it's been a pretty decent barometer in a lot of cases these last few years. Save Jerryd Bayless who scored like 30 a night.

and Courtney Lee was an all Summer League first teamer last year. :D

G – Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City
G – Courtney Lee, Orlando
F – Jeff Green, Oklahoma City
F – Michael Beasley, Miami
C – Brook Lopez, New Jersey

Psyco T has been impressive but lets not forget this is summer league in which 85% of the guys playing will not make an NBA roster. Most of the time he is going up against 6 foor 7 D-league fatties. Still Psyco T will make a contribution in the NBA as a scrapper. Also Roy Hibbert has made huge improvements after a solid rookie season. At 7-3" he is starting to move around pretty fluidly.

Hansbrough's stats look good... but his rebounding has been just so-so.

That's what he's going to need to make it in this league: Energy and rebounding ability.

Richard Hendrix barely played yesterday and didnt play today, that's disappointing. Rakovic hasnt played yet either.

Feelin' great about having Anderson on the team next year off the bench. Upgrade over Tony Battie? HELL YA.

So Dice is going to SA, huh? I have a feeling, those guys have no agenda of their own... they simply wait for Orlando to make a move on a player and then go for him. LOL.

So Big Baby isn't going to SA... I wouldn't mind the big fellah. Doubt Otis goes after him though. Bass is probably high on his list. A combo time share of Bass, Anderson and Lewis at the 4 is actually not a bad plan.

What will we do at PG is the next question. I don't want AJ playing a lot of minutes.

I've been riding the Hansbrough hype train since his arrival at UNC. Hop on the wagon now before he breaks all of MJ's records!

I will laugh my ass off if Hansbrough is actually a pretty good NBA player. He definitely deserves it after all this crap. If he turns up 15 and 7 sometime in the next few years, that would be stellar.

So, the Kings start their summer league in two days. I'm super excited to see how Tyreke Evans does. Also wanna see what Omri Casspi can do, as well as seeing some heavy minutes for Hawes and Thompson.

Edit - Holy ****, i just wiki'd Omri Casspi and we have the same birthday. Sweet.

Westbrook needs to lay off the turnovers...makes me lose some confidence in him as a full time PG. If he can turnover less, he would be an amazing monster man at the point.

NBA might lower the cap threshold in 2010
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4312837
This certainly sucks (well at least for Knicks fans who were banking on getting 2 max signings). I thought we were going to see a mass amount of transactions, stars going from one team to another. Now it looks like we will see a lot of reupping, and it all starts off with the King

Terribly disappointing news. It appears the summer of 2010 was over before it ever began.

I'm going to laugh hard if the cap for 10-11 is around $50-52M because it will screw over teams like the Knicks that are just fire selling to clear cap space for multiple superstars.

If they can only afford 1 superstar, what would Lebron's motivation for moving to NY be? Media exposure? Yea, like he isn't already the biggest marketed player in all of American sports.

That would be Tiger, but yeah.

And I saw in SI the top paid athletes (earnings plus endorsements), interesting list.

Tiger Woods was number one despite not playing golf for eight months and earning 30 million dollars less than the year previous due to that and the loss of car manufacturing company endorsements. He made over ninety million, double of second place Phil Mickelson. Mickelson being number two was suprising to me. LeBron was number three with 43 million, and was the highest endorsed non golfer athlete.

Interesting stuff.

Also, can anyone explain to me the max contract? Can athletes like LeBron not get any contract as big as they want as long as the team has the neccessary cap space?

Yea, I should have said one of the top, but you got the idea.

I think with the max contract, it means that the team has to have something like 12 players on roster, and the max contract for 1 player would prolly be the salary cap minus 11 contracts at league minimum or something. So, 1 player can only earn as much as is left after every other player was paid the minimum.

I could be wrong, I was just taking a guess.

For the first 7 years of a player's career, the maximum salary is 25% of the cap. After that point, it becomes 30% of the cap(which is why Wade, LeBron and Bosh have options to nix their contract after year 7). But that's only for the first year. Players who sign max contracts with the team that owns their bird rights can get 10.5% raises per season, while players signing non-Bird contracts can get 8% raises per season. Basically, LeBron stands to get a considerably bigger contract by staying in Cleveland.

Also: Bird rights come into effect when a player has spent 3 years with a team. Bird rights allow a team to go over the cap to sign a player to any contract they want. It's one of the reasons why Portland is not screwed at all once their guys get off rookie contracts.

I don't think people appreciate the fact that he's more than just an energy guy with a great work ethic. He's got skill, you don't get the NPOTY Award for being a glue guy. Hansbrough has the skillset and the work ethic to be a damn good NBA player. He's never going to be great, but he's going to keep working on his game until the day he retires.

He's going to need to keep developing that mid-range game as well as his post moves but Hansbrough has a bright future and in no way shape or form do I think the Pacers reached for him at 13.

What most people are assuming is that Lebron gives a **** about the money he gets in his NBA contract. Really, a few million a year is absolute chump change for Lebron, and at the end of the day, i don't think it'll matter. He's gonna go wherever he wants to, money not being an issue.

He'll get more NBA salary with Cleveland but far more advertising money if he goes to New York, so he stands to make more overall money if he goes to the Knicks.

I don't see how he'll make more money advertising in New York. He's already the most marketable player in the NBA, it's not like going to New York will all of a sudden make all of his endorsements go up. People all around the world know LeBron James, people all around the world wear LeBron James stuff. Going to New York won't increase his exposure one bit.

Someone who should go to NY is Michael Redd, there is a guy who would make loooooooads of new money if he played in NY. He's a good player, but playing in NY will amplify his exposure and make him rich. LeBron's exposure is maxed out. Anyone who hasn't heard of LeBron right now either will as soon as they're old enough to speak or never will, whether he's in New York or Timbuktu.

You're insane if you think Lebron's exposure is maxed out. This guy has the potential to be bigger than Michael Jordan, and there is no way he has reached a level near that at this point. Absolutely it will make him more money if he goes to New York, because he will have more leverage on companies willing to sign him. You don't think they're gonna be putting building sized posters down the streets of one of the biggest (in terms of population) and most important cities in the WORLD? There is no way his marketing potential is being maximized in Cleveland freakin' Ohio.

Edit - I forgot who i was discussing this against, and of course you don't think Lebron will make more money in New York, you're a Cavs fan.

I understand you said potential, but I honestly don't think there is any way Lebron will be marketed bigger than Michael Jordan. You look at two international giants in Nike and McDonald's, and both make almost every foreigner outside of America think Michael Jordan. That's not even to mention the many other companies that Jordan is/was the face of.
