The thing w/ Westbrook, though. Is that he is also a poor shooter...not a great fit at the 2 either. I think he'll grow into a PG. Cutting down on his tunrovers will certainly be key...very poor turnover numbers in SL this year as well. But, his defense on opposing PGs is already stellar. That is something you would have liked to keep as well, in drafting Harden. Keeps Westbrook over the opposing PG.

What they have on their hands is basically what Orlando had but, w/ out Howard. I like the two SF lineup, they just need a center who can board and they'll see a lot more success. They were hot on Thabeet and hot on Tyson Chandler. Mullens certainly has intriguing potential down the line. Could end up being a great rebounder in time. But Green is an underrated rebounder at the 4, he's not great but, he'll get in there like a Rashard Lewis or better yet, Caron Butler. Interesting enough, they were actually a great rebounding team this year. 6th in the league or something like that. And top 5 in offensive boards. But, I dont think you can expect it to remain that way unless they get a center who can really bring them down. They have a fantastic foundation, though. I love the direction they're going in. And dont think they could have done any better on draft day...after landing Harden and Mullens. They dont need a Millsap esque PF.

As for Oden...I think the only thing that may stand in his way are injuries. There is a lot he could work on for sure but, the talent/ability is there.

Something has occurred to me, after re-reading the article on Varejao re-upping with the Cavs.

I think there must be a secret NBA by-law in which there must be a set minimum number of bad contracts that inevitably become premium trade bait near their expiry. They make trade deadlines more interesting, and make blockbuster trades possible.

Varejao's 10 million a year is destined to become one of those contracts. So I ask you this. Over/under/push: Two trades for Varejao before his contract expires?

personally, i think westbrook's shooting will emerge before his turnovers go down. he is just too aggressive to not have a lot of turnovers. I really like what the thunder have done, durant can score at will and will only get scarier as he gets stronger. and green can literally do it all, but his defense is what makes him truly valuable. they have a lineup so in limbo you almost dont even know what would or wouldnt work.

they have built a squad full of matchup nightmares, and they most likely dont need millsap but i think he could help. i loved the mullens pick, because he is so low risk, if he explodes into the player he could be, this team is scary for years to come. if he doesn't, they dont lose much, just a repetition of the petro, sene, swift chronicales. this team has been built in the right way, just some maturation and some weight room away from the playoffs.

Jeff Green in college was actually a 4, more in the Jamison/Al Harrington mold. His rookie season he trimmed down for footspeed since he played the 3, but since moving to the 4 I think if he just puts on some weight back like from college he can be a legit 4 in the league like Jamison has been. Not the prototype but for a gunning team not bad. I love Kristic and Center because of his size, length, and skills, I just wish he would board better.

It's Deron Washington and yeah he's always had ridiculous hops, just ask Duke. Problem though is that his skills are very raw and he is so emotional on the court to the point that if he is upset he will kick, punch, chuck up 3's, turn it over etc. He is a solid defender as well but he won't make an NBA roster. Too raw and emotional. D-league player for life, his style doesn't translate well to overseas either.

Pistons signed Deron Washington to a guaranteed contract some time last week. Some think it's to include him in a trade though.

Thunder sign Mullens, Harden and Ibaka to contracts. Could this mean that Ibaka is going to be making his way to America this year? I really hope so.

I still don't think Ibaka will be that good, but maybe.

He might not become as amazing as I want, but he will bring some very good skill off the bench. He is a guy with a pretty high ceiling, I want to try and see all the LV games to get an idea of where his floor is.

I think he could make an impact this year coming in for Jeff Green.

If Ibaka can make the transition it's good for the Thunder. Depth-wise they need a guy who can play 15-20 minutes and give breathers to Durant and Green.

He definately can come in for Green, and I think he has the mid-range game to play a little SF.

I wonder if we actually want to keep Gortat as a player, or if we actually just want to work a deal with him so we can deal him.

I'm not sure about resigning him just to play 10-20 minutes a game. But if he can provide depth the first half of the season and be dangled out there as trade bait at the deadline, I like it.

**** ton on money for a backup. Dissappointed, but I guess we have to look at other options. Dalembert or Chandler in a trade will be ideal. Don't know what we re going to do with our MLE.

There is no way we could get him 20 minutes. Not when we just added two power forwards and Lewis will see time at the 4.

I bet Gortat is pissed. He was so excited to be on his way to Dallas.

Hopefully he's not a grumpy Gus and half asses it out there. Atleast that's one less need for the time being.

Thought: Maybe we're just being dicks. Perhaps we just want to re-sign Gortat and then we'll immediately offer him to the Mavs for picks or cash or even some depth players.

The rules state you can't trade Gortat until Dec 15 and you can't trade him to mavericks until next year.

Then I have to return to my "trade bait at the deadline" theory.

Someone out there will be in the playoff hunt half way through the season, but on the bubble because of their lack of front court quality.

And here we'd be, with Gortat.

He'll get moved eventually...maybe we can get a lottery pick for him. Not top 5 or anything but, the lottery. We could use a high pick, it's not like we have a future starting SG on our roster, anymore. And Carter wont last all that much longer, most likely.

Oh, we'll definately be moving Carter at next year's deadline. He'll be a absolute prime expiring contract, and we'll cash in on it.

WOW! Great news! I love coming here and finding new news! Thanks Moth.

Hefty cost for a back up, but as long as DeVos is willing to open up his wallet, there's nothing for me to complain about. This is truly new territory as far as spending money above the cap.

You have to imagine that the team wants to remain contenders for the opening of the new arena.

I had an unsure feeling heading into this offseason, but Otis kicked it off with a bang with the VC trade. The panic button got to a lot of Magic fans (not necessarily here, but on the Magic forums), but I really felt upbeat about filling in the roster after we were left with only 8 players.

It's a great time to be a Magic fan. Our post play, which was expected to take a hit, will continue to mature. The addition of Bass and Anderson seem promising. Hopefully, Otis decides to add Hendrix which would be icing on the cake.

I'm hearing the names Von Wafer and Matt Barnes... either will suffice as backups. They are both cheap eats.

Which leaves us with the huge Trade Excemption that Otis has a year to use. Awesome!

Denver acquired Aaron Aflalo and Walter Sharpe from the Pistons for a 2011 2nd round pick.
