Well, I guess Garnett isnt going to the Lakers then. Thats really surprising though, him and Kg would make them immediate contenders, Kobe is becoming even more confusing. What does he want?

If boston is in this rumored deal. Min better get Jefferson or else I don't see how or why they would do it.

I think all this is moot anyway, why would the Lakers trade for KG if Kobe still wants to be traded? What what that accomplish other than trading away your only other offensive threat in Odom and your future (Bynum)

Why not...? If say you could bring in KG, Gordon, and Wallace...that's a pretty good nucleus...They could just start clean again.

Durant, on the other hand, could have a much more difficult time transitioning to the NBA. He should eventually develop into a deadly inside-outside scorer but he's not there yet when it comes to the NBA. He's too slender to be a true inside threat so that part of his game will be a few years away likely. His outside game and shooting is good but it's not going to blow anybody away immediately as he will likely have trouble driving the lane until he bulks up a bit. Durant isn't nearly as close to NBA-ready as Oden is so saying he's better right now is simply false.
|
Durant crashes the boards as well. All Oden had in college was turn around dunk it, or throw the hook shot. He lacks post game , like a Duncan, a Garnett or a O'neal. Oden will find it hard to score without a solid post game. You know a player that runs the floor well, grabs boards, and gets easy dunks Samuel Dalembert, once Oden develops a Tim Duncan,Garnett type post game he may be better than Durant.

I think they believe the pieces they'll get for Kobe, along with Garnett is the whole point of the whole deal. But I thought the Lakers wanted to "rebuild".

So, Oberto is now a restricted FA... i could see some team out there dishing out some nice cash to steal him away. After his showing in the post season, he may be highly sought after.

Anyone know actually how tall Durant is? I have seen places that have him at 6'9 and others that say he is 6'11 and another that says he was 6'5 3/4
in the NBA Live commercial he is standing next to Arenas who is 6'4 and it looks lIike he is a good 6 inches taller than him
ESPN 6'9
NBADraft.net 6'10
Draft Express 6'10
Wikipedia 6'10
College Hoops.net 6'9
Rush The Court.net 6'5 3/4

If you think Durant is more NBA-ready than Oden, you're crazy. Durant is built like a stick. He will have trouble rebounding, driving, and posting up in the NBA. He's not nearly as close as Oden is to becoming a big-time contributor.

hes built the same way as T-Mac or Tayshaun Prince. Just because your skinny doesnt mean your weak, some people just have a naturally slender body.

AI is build like a stick and he had a few scoring titles, you can't teach talent, but its very easy to get a guy to work out
Over or Under
Durant scoring 15 a game?
Oden getting 12 Rebounds a game?
Durant getting 10 rebounds a game?
Oden blocking more than 2 shots a game?

It was proven that he's weak. He couldn't bench press 185 even one time. That is a testament to his upper body strength. He will struggle in the NBA until he puts on weight and becomes more powerful.

Lifting weights has nothing to do with basketball. If he can ball he can ball, look how Garnett was or Kobe was in HS. Very slender for their position

Neither were as slender or weak as Durant. If you think Durant is more NBA-ready than Oden who already has an NBA body, you're crazy.

You're missing the point. If Oden NEVER develops any post game, he'll still play tons of minutes in the NBA. His defence and rebounding alone make him worth having on the court. Add in his ability to run the floor and make easy buckets in transition and he's going to make an impact immediately. There are FAR more question marks with Durant.

He will get stronger and his body will fill out more, it's going to happen. He doesn't need to be really that much stronger either. Nobody talks about Garnett's strength ever since he's been getting 22 and 12 a night and he plays closer to the basket than Durant. Plus it's not even about what you can bench, squat, etc. in the NBA just the build of the body itself. Whatever needs to be done to get stronger is what he can do he doesn't need to meet numbers. His long arms aren't helping with his bench ability anyway.
