The team is bailing on Kobe big time. Less than .400 combined shooting tonight.

†I want Artest off the team.

I guess the one positive I can take from this game is that the Lakers shot 39.7 and the Celtics shot 56 and we only lost by 6.

But the Lakers of Kobe and Pau's ugly ass. And the Celtics have KG so they are stepped up. The lesser of two evils in rooting for Boston.

Doc was stupid for putting Pierce on Kobe late. Ray was playing great/perfect defense, but Kobe was just hitting some insane shots. Paul is too slow and too physical to guard Kobe. That's the only reason the game was close. If they leave the Allens on Kobe, the lead probably grows to ~20.

Not to beat this point into the ground, but the Lakers would be much better off had they kept Trevor Ariza. Ron Artest might have the lowest basketball IQ of anyone and his performance this post-season has been mostly dreadful.

Sounds like LeBron likes Izzo. This situation just gets more and more interesting. I wonder who Cleveland could add to improve their team to keep LeBron convinced he can win a title there?

I think some of the Celtics are douches, but its made worse by how bitchmade the Laker outside Kobe play at times. The difference I see is that the Celtics are all looking to make a play and the Lakers are all scared of messing it up on a big stage.

I don't see how this is relevant to the Lakers' offense. If anything it speaks to their inability to stop anybody defensively last night.

Gasol is the best center in the league but he doesnt get the ball nearly enough. He can beat Garnett easily.
Like people have said, he's not a C he's a PF. Against a physical frontcourt, the Pau(C)-Odom(PF) lineup is totally and completely ineffective.

Quote:
Not to mention that the Lakers fans want someone to play defense when Kobe refuses to guard Ray Allen because its too much work.
Again, you're showing how little you understand about basketball. Kobe is just okay at running around and fighting through screens. He's a great on-ball defender. Fisher is the complete opposite. Have Fisher chase Ray Allen up and down the court (other than Game 2, he's been awful anyways). Have Kobe play their main ball-handler.

Quote:
Then he guards Rondo from the free throw line.
Everyone guards Rondo from the free throw line. The dude can't make anything other than a layup without divine intervention.

Last night was a terrible display of defense coupled with a whole lot of standing around and watching Kobe. He was working to get his teammates involved early (4 first-half assists, despite the team having a dreadful shooting percentage). They stunk it up. He took over in the third, while the rest of his teammates kept throwing up bricks. Everyone took it as a cue to just stand around and watch him.

Even if Gasol did play Center, he certainly wouldn't be anywhere close to being the best in the league. That's one of the most absurd things I've read in this forum, and that's even if you include most of Burns homerism and the 5 page ridiculous debate about Monta Ellis.

Gasol as the top center is more believable than Monta Ellis as a top 5 (or 10 or whatever) player in the league.

But that's more as a result of how absolutely ridiculous the Ellis comment was.

He'd be close, but that speaks more to the quality of centers around the NBA and not necessarily Gasol's skill. He's got the best post moves and footwork of any big man, and he's arguably the best passing big man in the league.

He'd still get punked defensively and on the boards, though, especially against bigger, more physical centers.

Brad Miller laughs at Gasol's passing abilities for a big man. Miller = most complete C in the league? Easily. There's a reason why teams keep trading for him. Or wait, is that because his contract is always expiring....

Speaking of, wasn't Burns supposed to come back and post more pics of him being a douc...er, I mean really sweet dude standing with his girlfriend making the kissy face to the camera (him, not his gf), and saying how regular season didn't matter it's all about the playoffs where the Magic dominate? I wonder why he never came back...

So much fail these last few pages, 99% of it coming from jayceheathman. Nate Robinson should start over Rondo? Really? I mean, do you even watch basketball?

Eh, maybe if there was no Dwight Howard I might give it some consideration. But considering there is, and Gasol doesn't play center, I see it as pretty ridiculous.

But that's more as a result of how absolutely ridiculous the Ellis comment was.
Monta Ellis is the best center in the league.

The problem with the Lakers is they have the strongest mental player in the game and the two worst in Odom and Artest.

Pau Gasol gets a bad rap though. When they have Bynum on the floor and he can play his natural position he has done very well in this series. Having him take on Perkins down low and then try and guard Garnett is a lot to ask of him. The Lakers better hope Bynum's knee is better off in game 6 and 7.

a few things:
Pau is a PF. but even if he was a center; Bropez>Pau at Center.
The black mamba will come down and strike upon Boston, and the Lakers win in 7.

things like that make me happy

Dwight Howard is the most overrated player in the league.
