I understood that haha. Gallo isn't going to be bringing down 10 boards is he? Amares natural position is PF, they would probably make the eastern conference finals..

Gallo could play the 4. He's not a great rebounder but he has size and length, and is capable of blocking some shots.
Wouldn't it be more prudent to put Melo at the 2, Gallo at the 3, Amar'e at the 4, and sign/trade for a center? I think Melo is quick enough to guard a shooting guard. He's certainly improved defensively in recent years.
Of course this is just all speculation but I would cry tears of joy if the Knicks ended up with anything close to that.

Melo at SG would be a bigger failure than Durant at SG.

The Melo possibility for the Knicks is all hype. He's not going to leave Denver and stories that suggest he might are just to put more pressure on Denver.
The likeliest scenario for the Knicks is that they make a deal for Monta Ellis or Tony Parker, who are both huge upgrades obviously. I just don't really like them.
The one thing that's interesting is whether they've considered offering David Lee a max contract (more than anywhere else), which would then give them the worst defensive frontcourt in the history of the world.
LeBron, Melo, and Paul are pipe dreams at this point, which sucks, but it's reality.

I'm not saying it's likely, but I could certainly see Melo leaving.
Also, I would hate Monta Ellis with an utmost passion if he came to the Knicks. And no, David Lee will not be offered a max contract, or at least not by the Knicks.

Just watching espn right now, and someone asked if they think that Amare would be the only one heading to New York, and they said that they think they are going to get somebody else....
...any ideas on who may be going to the big apple with him?
Free agent? do they make a big trade?

Monte Ellis makes alot of sense for them since he fits their offence and the Warriors want to deal him.

You keep saying that despite that not really being true. There is no way the Knicks would take on his awful contract. The media/fans would go ballistic if one of our solutions was Monta Ellis.

You act like the NY media/fans have never been up in arms over anything sports related before, or that it somehow would deter NY teams from making those choices when it obviously doesn't. NY fans ***** about way too much for NY teams to take their views into account when making decisions.
In the end, fans will still pay money to watch the team, so what do they care? It's the same way in Chicago, albeit, Chicago fans choose to appear like they couldn't care less versus complaining.

11 million flat for 3 more years for a top scorer is an awful contract? With the way money is being thrown around, Monta's a bargain.

Amare signs with the Knicks for 5 years 100 Million. I'm not sure how much money they have left, but that's a huge cap hit!

Yep. Stuff like that is a fun story to garner attention but come on, the chanes of that happening are very little. Personally I think Melo is way too good, and too much of a superstar to play with Lebron.
Melo has always been "the guy" on Syracuse, now in Denver, people are getting out of control with FA and trying to put all these superstars on one team but most of these guys are built to take the game winning shot, and have the ball in their hands at the end of the game.
Can anyone honestly see Melo standing around late in the 4th while Lebron is taking all the GW shots? I can't. He's good enough to win a ring on his own one day with the right supporting cast around him, I think these guys know it too. Melo is on a different level then a Chris Bosh or even Amare IMO.
Well see who backs up all this talk, and if you see 2 studs team up together, but personally I don't see any of it happening. Guys like Wade, Lebron, Melo, Durant, Kobe are on a different level then guys like Joe Johnson, Boozer, Bosh, even if all of them are getting max contracts thrown around.

I think the NBA pecking order goes
1. LeBron
1a. Kobe
3. Durant
4. Melo
5. Howard
6. Wade
7. Williams
8. CP3
9. Bosh
9a. Amar'e
consider the 1a and such as even

I don't really disagree but I will say that Knicks fans are pretty intense. Most of them think it's LeBron or bust (which is ludicrous to me). And it wouldn't be the first time fan perception and the media had an impact on a decision by a NY sports team. Good or bad, it's happened plenty.

Personally, mine would look like this.
1. LeBron
2. Wade
3. Kobe
4. Howard
5. Melo
6. Durant
7. Paul
8. Williams
9. Dirk
This is a pretty fluid ranking. All of these guys are elite.
EDIT - Upon further review, I decided to put Durant ahead of the PGs.

You're right. Who wouldn't want a SG who can't guard SG's who has to have the ball in his hands to score who is injury prone who is turn over prone and can't pass?

the nets could honestly win it all with lebron and a mid-tier signing. use some of the rest for good depth. devin harris is a major upgrade over mo williams, likewise with bropez and cavs shaq. hell, the nets roster as is is better than cleveland's roster minus lebron.
same with the bulls really, but with the nets you go to ny, become a world icon, and you can build your own legacy. and if nobody big joins him and the nets win the championship, he gets all the credit for taking the nba's worst to the best.
