More people should bring this up. Picking Oden over Durant is one thing, but ending up with Darko ahead of those 3 is just terrible. Even with Melo it isn't like he was some unheralded prospect either, their team could have really dominated the East with more NBA championships had they taken either of those guys there.

Hypothetically, if the Magic were to acquire Chris Paul, then we would have a real showdown in the East.

Both the Lakers and even the Knicks can offer much better packages than the Magic so I doubt it happens

That is quite the hypothetical though.

The Knicks and Bobcats can offer the most right now, imo.

Bobcats are offering Eric Dampier's $13 million expiring deal and he can also be a decent backup C, Gerald Wallace (very talented SF), Gerald Henderson (young talent), and D.J. Augustin (young talent).

Knicks can offer Eddy Curry's $11 million expiring and he won't see the court, Danilo Gallinari (young, emerging SF), Raymond Felton (veteran PG), and who knows?

It's tough for me to decide between the two as a Hornet's semi-fan. I like the idea of a larger expiring deal and I like Wallace a good bit. On the flip side I like the potential Gallinari has and Felton would be a great guy to spell Collison and for him to learn from.

I'd give up pretty much anyone on the Knicks to get him. I'd love to do it and not give up Gallinari because he would fit in perfect as a spot up shooter with Paul as a distributor, but I'd certainly give him up if that's what it required.

Felton wouldnt be involved in any trade proposal...they cant even trade him.

As far as the Magic are concerned...I just dont see it. Nelson would have to be involved, and obviously they'd want to start Collison if Paul was moved. They surely wouldnt want an expensive PG in return. And Paul and Nelson arent going to work on the same team, obviously. Orlando would probably need to get a third party involved. Not gonna happen anyway.

I don't see why Nelson wouldn't be a good backup to Collison. I've always seen Nelson as a spark plug offensive player off the bench as his ideal role. Gives the Hornets some solidification at PG after Paul is gone.

But yeah... not happening.

Nelson is a fringe all-star type when healthy. The guy is just fine as a starter and he makes 7.5 million per. It's going to be quite a few more years before Jameer is backing anyone up.

He's overrated because he scores. Nothing else he does is fringe all-star worthy. Not his passing, not his rebounding and definitely not his defense. 7.5M is not a lot of money comparatively speaking. There are many backups in the league that make that or more. Redick will make that much. No biggy.

You're just matching salaries...nothing the Hornets would/should want. The Hornets will gladly keep Paul over getting trash salaries and losing attendance and marketability.

Yeah not saying it will happen but they have more to give imo. The majority of the players I listed are still young and have at least playoff expierence. Gota take VC but whatever give em a draft pick to.

Pietrus.. who ever

Him and Dwight would be legit and could easily compete imo if they kept enough guys around.
None of those pieces have much value. Gortat is waaaaaay overpaid. They aren't gonna move Paul for another PG. Bass,Pietrus and Q-Rich are all bench players.

It is about quality not just quantity. The Knicks can offer Gallo and Randolph and the Lakers could potentially offer Bynum

Ah I guess it is jsut personal preference but I mean like I said LA isn't interested and Bynum is young but NO wouldn't even do that I don't think. Jameer could start, would be a nice backup though he probably wouldn't be happy. I think Gortat could start considering the lack of solid big men, Q started last year due to nobody else to start lol and Bass probably could too.

And sportsguy 33 tweeted this "Boston has the hammer offer if they want to make it: Rondo, Perkins, Sheed's ghost, No. 1 + 3m for CP3 + Okafor. NO has to say yes to that." What is No.1 + 3m ?

And the Bulls are evaluating T Macs health haha.

Any trade offer for Paul that is built around a point guard in return is just dumb; they have Collison!

Chris Paul just switched to Lebron's management group. Jokes about creating another super team aside, they won't let him go somewhere that seriously threatens Lebron. He will be a Knick.

Lakers would have to break up their big man group to get him anyway, blech.
