He could invite him into his office and shower him with his money and have dirk there in there taking a money shower with him.

Magic:
PG Chris Paul / Chris Duhon
SG Quentin Richardson / JJ Redick
SF Rashard Lewis / Mikael Pietrus / James Posey
PF Emeka Okafor / Brandon Bass
C Dwight Howard / Emeka Okafor

Hornets:
PG Darren Collison / Andre Miller
SG Vince Carter / Marcus Thornton
SF Nicholas Batum / Quincy Pondexter / Julian Wright
PF Marcus Camby / Ryan Anderson
C Greg Oden / Daniel Orton

Trailblazers:
PG Jameer Nelson / Jared Bayless / Elliot Williams
SG Brandon Roy / Rudy Fernandez
SF Wesley Matthews / Luke Babbit / Dante Cunningham
PF David West / Jeff Pendergraph
C Lamarcus Aldridge / Joel Przybilla

Why this makes sense:
- Magic get Paul while eating a couple of bad contracts and sending away a big package that includes Nelson, Carter, Anderson, Gortat, Orton.

- Hornets begin their full fledged rebuilding effort, but don't have to sacrifice the season to get there. Andre Miller, Vince Carter and Marcus Camby provide veteran stability, and the Hornets also get some young talent in Nicholas Batum, Greg Oden, Ryan Anderson and Daniel Orton. The rebuilding is already underway as there is already promising youth at every position.

- "Worldwide Wes was responsible for Oklahoma City Thunder executive Rich Cho getting hired as the Portland Trail Blazers’ GM." --Yahoo. You better bet that Cho owes some favors to the agent who now runs Chris Paul. Portland may not be getting Paul, but they are certainly getting a nice package by getting involved and helping to get this done.

The Orlando Magic have emerged as the top team on Paul's list of preferred destinations, replacing the New York Knicks, according to league sources. While the Knicks are still high on Paul's list, he believes the Magic, with All-Star center Dwight Howard, would be a better fit. Paul also realizes Orlando has much more to offer New Orleans in a trade and therefore believes it is a more realistic destination than New York, according to the sources. New Orleans would not limit itself to the four clubs on Paul's list. Instead, the Hornets would look for the best deal for its franchise, according to league sources.

Yup. I posted that last night. I'm really excited. Even if this doesn't go through, it was fun to speculate. :)

Starting LaMarcus Aldridge at C would be an epic fail. That's a pretty bad trade for the Blazers. They give up way too much and arguably don't even upgrade any position.

That trade would kick the Blazers out of the playoffs.

Losing Oden does nothing to prevent them from being a playoff team. They never got an impact from him in the first place. Przybilla is still there. Camby is old, expensive and the Trailblazers probably won't even resign him when his contract is up. Aldridge plays Center for the Blazers right now. They use him at both PF and C. He knows how to play the position. It's not foreign to him or anything. Size isn't the issue. A West/Aldridge tandem is not weak by any stretch of the imagination. At PG, it may be a lateral move value wise, but Nelson is way younger than Miller.

...wait... you believe the Hollinger predictions are accurate??? That's the funniest thing I've heard here in a long time! :D

Paul would make Howard unstoppable, hide at times his limited arsenal of offensive skills. And I think he could give the Heat fits if they wind up together. Who would stop Howard and who would stop Paul? Bosh and Wade? Big Z and Wade?

No, no. Magic would win that battle.

Maybe something like this:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=27pcah9

Magic get Paul and take on Posey's contract.

Hornets get a talented, young player in Danny Granger, and also get $24.3 million in cap relief after this season, and $18 million after the next year.

Pacers get Jameer Nelson, David West, and Emeka Okafor.

Not that bad, IMO.

Indiana trading Granger for any combination of Nelson and West is a massive mistake. If they're gonna trade away one of the best scoring SFs in the game, you better get something for the future. West is 30 years old and probably staring at the downside of his career, and Jameer Nelson is not an actual point guard.
