Good, Rondo withdrew and the USA team is not set. His game is of little worth on the international stage. It is better to have Gordon and Curry's shooting and Westbrook than Rondo.

I would've gone with Rondo over Gordon. Rondo has way better defense than any of the PGs they kept, his passing is superior to Gordon and he's a finisher. Not to mention he has the grit and fire to compete in the face of adversity. It's not just about who has the best 3pt range. When it comes to these games, it's all about heart and hustle. That fits Rondo to a T. Gordon... meh.

Heart and hustle mean nothing when you can't even hit free throws. He is an offensive liability: he was in the Finals against the Lakers and he will be against top flight international teams. Basically any team that doesn't have Mo Williams "defending" him..

I can't wait until the Celtics play in the playoffs next year and teams hack Rondo over Shaquille O'Neal.

I disagree. I don't really care what Rondo can bring to the table in terms of heart and intensity. The international style of game caters to teams that can shoot, hit their FT's, and play finesse style of offense. Rondo is far too one dimensional and Westbrook is just as good at getting to the rim as Rondo, if not better. He's far more athletic in that sense.

there is no point to have Rajon Rondo on your team. international ball doesn't bail out dudes who duck their head and draw a foul (well, everywhere but beijing, where LeBron and Wade both got those calls). You need shooting and cohesiveness. thats why USA does better with Odom on the floor compared to Chandler. Odom can stretch the D out, and isn't a liability on defense, especially in a zone.

and who wins, team USA or Miami? I say USA, because of the defense they could bring on Bosh, Wade and LeBron. especially in fiba rules, or if the team had bropex.

Miami beats Team USA. I don't even want USA tagged to that team's name. How about just Team US. Cause that's all they are... a bunch of raggamuffins who will lose.

overdramatic much? they beat Spain by two. Spain actually had some half court sets. And this shows the depth of American basketball, since this is for the most part, our second team.

I'd venture to say it is our third team, with exception of Kevin Durant.

In other news, the soon to be waived Erik Dampier may be taking his "talents" (the fact that he is big) to South Beach... Pat Riley would need to use some more of his magic, but would it surprise anyone if he got it done? He would instantly be better than anyone the Heat currently have at C.

Watching this ESPN special on MJ when he retired the first time, it makes me wonder where his legacy would be had he stayed retired the first time he went to baseball. He still had the rings, but think about how much wouldn't have been added to his legacy with that 2nd return. Still a HOFer, but people may have looked at him differently.

I love, love, love Dr. Buss

"You sit there and you say, 'No, we really can't afford this.' Then somehow the next day we end up spending some more money and getting another player and signing a new [contract] extension, etc., etc.," Buss said. "At least it has softened my attitude towards women in the mall because I can't turn down things either."

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...,7966668.story

But if the Lakers don't win a third consecutive championship, Buss might have some buyer's remorse.

"You hate to say it that way, but that's what it comes down to. You get to a spot where you have to win it all to be happy," he said. "Some time ago, I'm talking to some people and they wanted a bonus if the Lakers make the playoffs. I said, 'If they don't make the playoffs, you don't work here anymore.' "

I just remember how epic his comebacks were. That's all I care about. I couldnt believe when he came out of retirement to play for the Wizards, but I was extremely excited. And he was still good, three years out. god.

There arent many players, I'd get geeked out of my mind to see come out of retirement these days.

ughhhhhh.

Jeff George may get me more excited at this point.

Favre has still never actually been out a year. lol.

edit...

I was giddy when Deion came back with the Ravens. That was pretty sweet, at least.

I wish Barry Sanders would have come back. That is the closest comparison to Jordan leaving the first time.

Anyone been watching the warm up games for the World Championship? Eric Gordon and Rose have been great. Durant has been ok too.

If you say Derrick Rose, I'm gonna kick you in the nuts.
I think this team is fine. They're not a Dream Team, but they're still Team USA. The team has a good flow, and Coach K is doing a great job getting them where they need to be. I don't see any need to worry about this one not getting it done.

You have to remember that the team you mentioned was coached by Larry Brown, who refused to play most of those stars the way he needed to. The guy is the ultimate douche, and Brown is the reason that team failed. Coach K doesn't **** around, and he doesn't let his own ego affect making the right decision for the basketball team.
