Wall made some nice passes, but he played poorly offensively. Which is no big deal. It's his first game against a good team. It happens to a lot of vets too the opening weeks.
Still, did a nice job of distributing and keeping turnovers to a minimum.

The team around him is beyond atrocious but I wasn't overly impressed with his defense at all. He got beat a lot.
He's quick as hell though and won't shoot 5-17 every night/won't have to deal with the best shot-blocker in the league.

Teams are going to treat him like Rose. Now that they have seen his jumper struggling they are going to sag off and dare him to shoot. They will also go under screens to prevent him from penetrating.
Derrick's mid range game accelerated fairly quickly his rookie year and was knocking down a good percentage by mid-year, which forced teams to start respecting it.
Wall has quite a bit of work to do on his shot. Form looks good, but that set shot won't cut it at this level IMO. He needs more lift or he'll find a lot of attempts getting blocked/tipped. It'll work when they are sagging off, but not so much against bigger defenders/tighter defense.
Impressed with his vision tonight. Found open shooters with regularity and only had a couple times when he forced the issue and found himself in trouble (something I thought he'd have a lot of trouble with this year). He just needs to slow down and learn game tempo. He's very aggressive when he sees an opening and that gets him into making careless mistakes.
Overall it was an up and down night. Typical for a rookie's first game at the PG position. That said, those who thought he was going to come in and dominate from day 1 may need to temper their expectations. Until that jumper becomes more consistent he's going to find it difficult to get his offense going IMO.

Deron looks really hesitant so far through a game and a quarter. Probably feeling out his new teammates, but so far he doesn't look comfortable.
He's going to miss Boozer in the pick and roll though, that's for sure. Jefferson isn't nearly as mobile and is more of a true post player. We'll see how Sloan adjusts his offense to fit his new big man.

Random thought, but not trading Noah was the best move you guys made all summer. Boozer's going to work wonders since he finally has a partner inside to do dirty work for him.
Your offense may be lackluster now, but it will be much better once he's back.

I am too. Everyone who wanted Anthony was like, zomgzzz talentzzzz. Yeah, Carmelo would make our offense unstoppable, but what we'd gain in scoring we'd lose in interior defense and rebounding. Plus, you can't ignore Noah's hustle and the little things he does. Also, you brought up a good point about Noah hiding Boozer's weaknesses as a defender. We lose Noah and our interior defense goes to hell.
I'm all for getting Melo, but not for Noah. So basically he's not coming here unless we can find a 3rd team to include in the deal.

John Wall looked sensational last night...I may have been wrong. He won't be better than Steve Francis though..

On July 7th, I don't think there was any team I'd cheer for the Magic against. But tonight, there is! **** THE HEAT.
Work your magic on Big Z's old ass, Dwight. Beat him like he owes you money. Beat him like it's the 2009 playoffs.

LeBron, you asshole. You've been a mismatch your entire life. There's not a player in the NBA who is both quick and strong enough to defend you in the post. Apparently you just kept making the choice not to go there, even when the team needed it, even when the team could trot out 4 shooters around you to give you space, and you used it like 5 times per season. Wonderful LeBron, best of luck bro.

Ya, the guy has such an array of offensive moves at this point. He could definately average 22-25 PPG this year given the amount of touches he will get. And ya...while the Rebounds is definately an issue it is kind of expected given that he is still more of a perimeter orientated offensive player and reggie eats up all the defensive boards

Wow what a cheesy intro for the Heat. So many former Magic players looking silly on the jumbotron also. Trying to look sexy in the SLOWMO.

Dwight's first 2 moves were exactly what we saw him practicing with Hakeem in that video I posted weeks ago.
Awesomeness.
