Kevin Love must be the worst defender in the history of basketball.

That's the only possible explanation for how little he plays.

20 points in 23 minutes after this report came out today:

Quote:
The Wolves have spoken to Kevin Love and coach Kurt Rambis won't be benching his best player in the fourth quarter anymore, sources tell ESPN's Chad Ford.
It sounds like the Wolves' brass brokered a meeting here and implored Rambis to stop messing with Love. They understand the need to keep their franchise player happy, even if Rambis doesn't. Love is averaging 14.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in just 25 minutes a night so far. If this report holds true, Love will be looking at something closer to 32 minutes a night. Look out.

Hopefully Rambis is on his way out. You would think not benching your best player is one of the most very basic things a coach should know not to do.

Unrelated but is Blake Griffin still a lock for ROY? That talk was always ridiculous. Wall is a monster.

John Wall is amazing. Why the Wizards put the ball in Andray Blatche's hands with the game on the line is beyond me.

I know I like his chances 17 feet out facing up.

John Wall just willed his team to the victory. Cartier hit the big shot and Blatche made some clutch free throws but Wall made every clutch play he needed to. When he picked Turner and made the layup that changed the game. And he's a sick free throw shooter on top of that. He'll be a top 10 guard by year 3. Yeah it's 3 games but I can already make the conclusion that everyone who thought he wasn't a pure point was dead wrong. Does he need to cut down on the turnovers sometimes, sure, but he is a pure point. Everyone ragged on his pacing but I think his change of speeds and control in the half court are great. First 3 games 31 assists and only 14 turnovers, not to shabby for a rookie PG. Not to mention most of his turnovers are either 50/50 charging fouls going to the hoop or feeds inside in which his bigs aren't boxing their man out. Not to mention this kid isn't a pssy like Arenas. Wall was given the option from the doctors to sit out this game because he rolled his ankle against Atlanta but he showed up and looked 100%.

It's the 76ers....;) Although he was studly against the Hawks as well and that was impressive.

Wall's gonna be a stud, no doubt about it. But let's peel back the reigns a little bit. Wall has a ways to go and teams will start adjusting by trapping, throwing doubles, defensive shading to prevent penetration, etc.

Remember Brandon Jennings started off extremely hot last year and cooled off as the year went on.

Now I realize that Wall is in a different class than Jennings as a player, but I want to see how he adapts.

Also, Wall is extremely aggressive by nature, which is going to result in a high volume of turnovers. It was that way at UK, it was that way in Summer League and it'll be that way in the NBA until he decides to slow down. What makes him dangerous is that he has his foot on the throttle any time he touches the ball. He may pass it off to a teammate, but he's always in attack mode. Game/tempo management is something he'll need to learn and operate. But he also gets himself into a lot of out of control situations that can be avoided. You can be a pure point and still be efficient with your passing (see; Nash, Steve, Rondo, Rajan and Kidd, Jason).

I saw him hitting some shots against Atlanta and Philly and that's scary if he can do it with regularity. I'd still give him that shot and go under screens until he consistently hits it. Orlando was begging him to shoot in the opener, almost playing the Rondo defense on him.

Wall is a high risk/high reward player right now and that's really interesting because it's the exact opposite of what Rose is. Rose is very efficient and careful with his decisions, but will put his foot down when he has to or when he feels it. It's going to be fun watching those two develop into the NBA's next big rivalry. Wall creates some shots for his guys. Rose finds open players and creates on occasion.

He's like a cross between Rondo's activity/playmaking/length and Wade's athleticism/aggressiveness.

This. I love his character, everything we could have asked for at this point.

He's the perfect PG for that team. He knows what his role is and executes to perfection. It helps to have guys like Allen, Pierce, KG, Big Baby, Nate, etc but you have to give credit where credit is due. He's an extremely intelligent player on both ends. He gets his players in rhythm with passes, he has damn good vision, he's a very good passer, he's very active in the passing lanes on defense, he rebounds and he's good in the open court. He's just an efficient player and he makes that team go.

I think his success comes from a combination of having offensive weapons all over the floor and having the skillset to match the pieces around him. He's pretty much the definition of a pure point guard.

I do wish Rose would look at guys like Wall and how they initiate contact to go to the line. I'm not saying flop or exaggerate. But you can be smart in some situations near the rim and just jump into a guy to draw a foul. His body control is so ridiculous that he can take contact and continue to get his shot off by contorting himself, but when his offense isn't going or when we need to get some points it'd be nice to see him try and draw some fouls. Hopefully Thibs makes this a point of reference when analyzing his game.

Well its a very good thing that they dont need him to shoot because that would not be good for them

Any word on Beasley's injury? Was looking forward to seeing him turn things around in Minnesota.

Bad start for Milwaukee. 1-3? It's the Corey Maggette effect.
