Wow, he's a better defender than two bad-mediocre guys. And he was ******* useless offensively without Paul last year.

You ranked him in the top ten big men, even though he isn't even top 35.

I just named 25, in addition to the other 9 you listed. I guess that makes him 35th, but that was just from looking at the standings and naming big men off of the top of my head.

yea, his D and rebounding are average at best, but he held his own against Dwight last night and offensively has been incredible.
he's better than Okafor and Vara-flop, i'll say that.

He's too talented of a passing big man to be passing as little as he has been, but I suppose that could be on Rambis (**** if I know). His shooting needs to get better though...

He's shooting like **** because he's being counted on to be a go to type scorer when he's not one, and his passing is fine our shooters just suck dick.

I'd still take Oden over everyone... just to have that slim chance that a true center, in all facets, still exists... And not to mention Oden's PER is amazing, too bad he fouls out after 18 minutes

Over Love is debatable IMO. AV is a much better defender but not as good offensively. Love isn't very good offensively either, but he does have more range and can pass well. Varejao does have great awareness though for cutting behind the defense for easy baskets. Rebounding, AV is strong there, but Love is Love. I think it could go either way depending on what you need out of your big man. Both are role players right now, and Love has the potential to be more.
But Lopez, no. Bropez is not as good defensively or on the glass as AV is, but he is a much better offensive player and there is no comparison. Bropez has the potential to be a very good #2 guy, and that's much, much more valuable than anything AV can bring to the table. If the argument was taking AV in his role over Bropez in his, then maybe I could see it, but as a Cavs fan, if I were GM and the Nets offered me Bropez for AV straight up, no way in hell am I turning that down.

Let me explain why it's absolutely ********.
Anderson Varejao has been in the NBA for six seasons, going on seven. He is an absolutely terrible offensive player. Just downright putrid. There's no reason why he should ever touch the ball on offense unless it's a putback layup or dunk. As for his defense, he's massively overrated. He got away with so much cause he was on Lebron's team his whole career. All the fake flops, hacks, flailing around aren't gonna go his way anymore now that the Quitness is gone. From a rebounding perspective, he's above average. Kevin Love is the best rebounder in the NBA by a good margin, and he just turned 22. He has enough offensive skill and much more potential in that area. He may not be that great on defense, but really, Varejao's claim to fame is his defense and he isn't really great at it.

Varejao is an excellent defender, so you are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off on that.

Yes, he is. The perception that all he does is take charges is total ********, because he took less than 30 last year and has the quickness to pretty much hang with any position on the floor defensively. You are just saying completely wrong generalities.

I didn't insinuate that all he does is take charges. He gets away with a lot of rough play, kinda like Bruce Bowen did on those Spurs teams, because of who his team was. I said he's above average, he is NOT a top flight defender, and he definitely is not more valuable than the best rebounder in the NBA-who-actually-has-offensive-talent.

I never said he was more valuable than Love, but I still think he's a top flight defender.

hey, if the other team is going to hit 22 3s you are going to lose. Good shooting from the suns, I feel like J-Rich always goes full tilt against us, he would be the MVP if he played like that against everybody.
